Sign up-thread and more information to follow within the next couple of weeks. Love how he incorporated that wonderful smiling face into his work on Sleepy Hollow 16.

NT Season 10 informationQ: Hiya Axel, what are we doing?Architects! No countries, or states, or failed states this year. We're doing architects. Q: Cool beans, how's that going to work?We will present the 16 architects within the coming days. 32 entry slots available on a first-come, first serve basis. Q: When and where do we sign-up?
The sign-up thread is going live on March 24th at roughly 0800 CET. Sucks to not be European, for once. Q: Oh neat! Wheel of death? No wheel of death. No trading either, by the way. When the sign-up thread opens, you head over there, sign up, and pick the architect of your choice. Each architect can only be chosen twice. Q: What happens if I'm not among the 32?You go into the alternate pool. We will choose the alternates who go into the main pool from the quality of your courses + your design history. Q: So we're being asked to recreate a famous course by said architect, or what? We're asking you for your interpretation of your chosen architects key traits. We will give you a couple of key characteristics as well as a few courses to research, but you're of course more than welcome to research other courses as well. Q: What do we do if I'm dumb and accidentally choose an architect that's already chosen twice? Do I lose my spot in the field? No. You'll be assigned the left-over architect. If you'd prefer, you can also ask to be put on the wheel of death and randomly assigned an architect. Of course, that hinges on others doing the same. We won't be streaming it, but I'll do the WOD and get back to you. The key is to be among the first 32 in sign-ups. Once you've entered your preferred architect, there's no going back. Q: When does the design and publish window open? They both open April 1st. And they will close on August 1st. Q: And then what? The 32 will become 16. The Sweet Sixten will become the Elite Eight, and we'll announce the winner of the coveted "Rees Jones Trophy" on stream. Pictured: Axel von Strantz (left)

fingers crossed the plane wifi is working and/or my phone doesnt take half an hour to switch over to a UK signal. Currently scheduled to land at Heathrow at 0915 CET and I'm REALLY hoping I get to claim George C Fazio or Arthur F Hills before they're off the board.

Question; when you say 32 turn into 16 in round 1 judging, is it the top 16 courses or do the 2 courses inspired by the same architect go head to head and best one qualifies? I hope that makes sense

Entered as a wheel of death contestant and got Ross. Initial thoughts was how the hell do you make a course distinctively Donald Ross, his courses are so varied and they don't really have distinctive or signature features that obviously mark out the architect. But some of the things that I want to work to improve are plot creation, routing, emphasising strategic design and simplifying stylistic elements, so I think Ross is a really good fit and couldn't be happier.
Hope I can do a good job.

But some of the things that I want to work to improve are plot creation, routing, emphasising strategic design and simplifying stylistic elements, so I think Ross is a really good fit and couldn't be happier. Hope I can do a good job. As someone who LOVES Ross designs and someone who lives in New England where he has a ton of courses, I think there are a few things that would be fun to think about. - Pick or create a really tricky plot of land. Many of his courses, especially in the Northeast, are built around ledge, existing water and are extremely undulating. Ross always did a really good job with his layouts in terms of using the land. For example, in Rhode Island, Metacomet and Wannamoisett are literally a mile from each other but have totally different plots. Wannamoisett is a small square parcel of land that is relatively flat. Then Metacomet was all ledge, very hilly and navigates the bay. Both courses had similar feels, especially with their green complexes. - Another interesting thing with Ross is how many of his courses have been renovated "back to their roots" v. ones that have remained untouched. You will notice a HUGE difference, so if you go an look at some of his restorations, I think you will learn alot about his principles and how they were restored. - Lastly, almost all Ross courses have one or more of the following very distinctive things. He almost always had a short signature Par 3. Almost always had at least one hole with a blind tee or approach shot. He almost always had one short par four with a TREACHEROUS green.

mjhamilton113 thanks mate that's great. I see Metacomet has closed and is being redeveloped into housing. Shame.

mjhamilton113 thanks mate that's great. I see Metacomet has closed and is being redeveloped into housing. Shame. Yeah, it has been quite the dramatic thing around here. You can still play it in 2K21, I built it with Lidar. I also built Point Judith and Wannamoisett as well which are Ross courses if you want to see. It is actually being redeveloped as a 9 hole course with a few original holes and opening back up this Summer.
