My alternate entry into the National Treasure Design competition has been published.
Fuzzy Horse Golf Club - Harry Colt A mix between a lot of Harry tracks with a large plot (using the land as the guide). While a bit unrealistic to go from Utrecht deep woods to Swinley/St. Georges and Sunningdale Heathland to then a coastal Sligo, I felt like blending some biomes was my way to nod Harry's ability to use the land he was given with whichever features and create a unique course that was fun to play.
Things to note: the course is on the easy side but can be played via different tee's for re-playability. Many holes play VERY different based on pin and tee chosen. Almost all greens are raised. Simple rolls within them where the drive dictates the correct position to play the hole as was Harry's mantra. the course can be sped up green wise, but I would not recommend as you lose the feel of the ground game created if you run them too fast. 9s are separated for play within half plot portions. 1-9 on one side, 10-18 on the other. While built on coastal land, only 1 hole has potential water in play similar to a few holes on Sligo that does not use the water as hazards and more additive sightlines and visuals. Bunkering did not change throughout the biomes, more over the consistency of bunkers being built into the land. I did not create pots for the coastal portion, sorry not sorry.
no photos, just go play it.
Thanks!

Enjoyed my round at Fuzzy Horse. I loved South Homer and this is right up there as one of your best efforts IMO.
The highlight for me was the blending of 'biomes' as you described above. I enjoyed the routing as it made it's way through heath/forest/coastal. You managed to maintain a cohesive feel throughout the course. Very creative.
Thanks for designing and good luck in the NT comp.

Hey sebk, Stunning course, a little dark in the shade but the rest of the course is set off beautifully by the late afternoon sun. The seaside holes are marvellous.

I liked your Fuzzy Horse course. Looks nice and plays well. I played it before reading your commentary, and was pleasantly surprised with the biome change. Best wishes for the NT contest. Cheers
