My entry to National Treasure, Ribblehead is set in rolling English countryside inspired by the Yorkshire Dales and the railway line that runs through the area, with farm areas dotted around the property and a small English village.
I had alot of fun researching Walter Travis, and Ribblehead draws on his design features to create what is a scoreable but strategic layout:
- Hummocks - inspired by Cape Arundel, these drive the strategy at Ribblehead and can be used creatively to access pin locations, but are a nightmare if you end up behind one! - Bold greens - as well as the hummocks which bleed into the greens, the greens have bold slopes that need to be navigated, whether the slope is a big, long slope protecting pins (5th and 13th) or ridge lines/tiers dividing the greens into portions - placement off the tee is paramount to have the best approach to certain pin locations - Heavy bunkering - I toned this down slightly - but there are plenty of green side bunkers to get into if you aren't careful
Design notes - the pub, clubhouse and road areas are all in-bounds - nothing beats a dicey chip from a pub garden on the 8th..
Really solid.....I think you captured the Travis vibe along with a great environment....good luck in the competition.A fun course to play that rewards good shots.

Enjoyed my round last night. Loved the environment. The wide open fairways did not translate to an easy course. The subtle (and in parts not so subtle) elevations provided challenges in club selection for the approach. Thought the greens were a highlight as they complemented the terrain in a very natural way. Well done and good luck in the comp.

Really lovely course, I enjoyed my round. Some spicy green to contend with kept me on my toes.

sroel908: And as someone who's rangered/scheduled hundreds of courses, trying out a wide range of conditions, I can say with certainty that green speeds do have an impact and definitely matter.

sroel908: Green firmness is more about how the ball interacts with the putting surface when you hit an approach into it. A soft green is more receptive, and will allow more backspin than a firm one. A firm green will have less bite and more rollout.

meunier33: I have seen 135 greens that putt like they are 170. Therefore, we can conclude that green speed does not matter.

meunier33: Why isn't there a green firmness meter on the score bug? Green firmness matters much more than green speed.

meunier33: I still play this game like it was the game before 2K21. Up until this month I have never tried to change anything about how I play the game. It has made me worse trying to adapt also.

OldManGaming606: The biggest swing adjustment and best for competitive golf IMO, was 2k21 and addition of tempo.

Art Vandelay: each time the game has been issued (TGC, TGC2, TGC19, etc) the game play changes. Some more than others. You have to adapt. Or go away, like some have.

Wutpa: I think a lot of people here have figured out what your problem is, and it's not what you think it is.

meunier33: EG the best swing used to be hard and low and not a high swing like it is now.

meunier33: Im finally figuring out what my problem is though. I play the game like it used to work 4 or 6 years ago and I have trouble adjusting to how it now plays

zooby97: Is that all meunier33 does is COMPLAIN? Will you please ditch the game so I don’t have to see the complaints anymore, wow!
