Welcome to Mia Mia GC located in Maldon, Australia, the hometown of Walter Travis. Walter Travis grew up in Maldon and in 2024, his family decided to dedicate his legacy to a new project on the south eastern side of town along the Mia Mia track. Inspired by the classic designs of Walter Travis, Mia Mia has wide fairways and heavily contoured greens. In addition, I suggest playing the Green tees at 7,475 Par 72. The black tees reach nearly 7,900 and provide a very difficult challenge. The prevailing summer wind in Maldon should be used from the S/SE. Signature Holes: #3 - 585 yard par five with a split in the fairway making hitting the fairway important in order to reach the green in two or leave an easy layup. One of the heavily contoured greens with several classic Travis mounds #7 - 328 yards from the Green tees, this driveable par four has over ten bunkers in play and depends accuracy in the approach shot. Hitting this wide fairway may be easy but anything right of center is at the mercy of severe mounding #17 - Playing 547 yards, the 17th plays as a reachable five with a severe downslope in front of the green which runs away from you. Modeled after the famous 17th a Cape Arundel, one of Travis’ most iconic designs.

Really lovely layout and enjoyed my round. Nice Aussie connection. Fun fact from the area: The highest Australian Rules football score was made in the area when Campbells Creek defeated Primrose 634 to 18. Primrose came back in the last quarter kicking their only 3 goals for the game.

Happy to learn this and I'm surprised we do not celebrate locally his achievements. It's not a name that pops up when discussing local golf and golf architecture with others.

Really loved your Mia Mia course. I definitely picked up the Aussie course vibe. There certainly were some tight pin positions. Thanks.
Cheers
