That's probably true, the perfect window reduces by what looks like about half on an overswing. However, I'm getting a muscle memory of how quickly to push the stick forward now, and bad misses are becoming less frequent than they were. A close miss on an approach shot doesn't fly as far either side of the target compared to a drive too, which makes hitting the green a bit easier.
I've tried holding the swing at the top which does reduce the power to under 100%, but I don't have any rhythm doing that and my tempo is all over the place. With the quick back and forth the tempo is a bit better but probably no better than I'm getting with my current method, additionally the swing plane goes off line too easily. Sometimes I hit slight fasts with the swing plane trailing off to the right near the end, and the ball goes pretty straight.
I reckon just do what works, there's no one right way to swing it.

It’s funny how tempo only creeps into a round when water or OB are in play on a hole....seems a bit too coincidental

You probably just notice it more because of the crap result. I've played heaps of holes with water and whatever without going into it because of a bad tempo miss, probably a heap more than I've gone into it.

Could be...but could also be easily coded into the game as a "tension" factor to simulate real life

Yeah, I just do what I do in real life, pretend the water or whatever isn't there and just do what I normally do. If I stuff it up so be it. If you think you'll hit it there you probably will...

So I spent a bunch of time of the range recalibrating my swing tempo yesterday. I got it dialed in to where I was consistently hitting perfect and had a good nigh t playing societies. I come on tonight and played a few and could not get a perfect. Frustrated I went to the range and sure enough I could not get into the white perfect with any club. Always on the edge of fast and slow? What changed in a day? I had to recalibrate once again but now only could hit one perfect position. Wireless I could get like 3 positions. The tempo is broken and I fear once again we are at the mercy of server and connection speed. As it varies so does the tempo. May need to calibrate before each round or just learn to play fasts

Play be feeling mate, feeling fast, it's impossible to dial the perfect on command. HB Fault, 100%

I'm glad I found this thread. I certainly never expected to be in contention to win anything, but in TGC19 I was consistently able to shoot under par on basically any course in the game. But I've been pulling my hair out with this game since I started with the tour qualifiers. Tried everything up to deliberately calibrating the swing as extra slow/fast so that at least my shots would be consistent one way or the other but to no avail.
For my own sanity I'll probably step away from the game until they fix this. Ive no problem being bad at a game because I'm bad at a game, but when it's essentially a RNG every time I swing it's just a waste of time.

I'm think it's being affected by how quickly I start the downswing, rather than how quickly I push the stick forward to the plastic at the 'top', which has been touched on before (transition). I've started noticing slows almost every time I do one now and they always line up with being a bit sluggish at the start of the downswing even if it speeds up before the end of it. I always call it to myself before it shows up on the screen.
It felt random at first but now that I've gotten used to the swing mechanics more and can feel when swings are off too far one way or the other, I don't think it's random at all. Not on my PS4 and controller at least.

Not on my PS4 and controller at least. I certainly don't think it's random, but I do still feel like there's too narrow a window between what's considered perfect and fast/slow. I'm still having issues where I feel like I swung fast, and it turns up slow instead. I think this is to do with the whole swing itself being sped up this version. Oddly enough, like you say, I feel like I get better swings when I pause a split second before my downswing. Even tho I almost always get 101% swings, my tempo is much more consistent when I do. I almost never get 100%. I've tried and it just doesn't feel natural to begin the downswing that soon.

Since fixing my swing tempo issues, I've gone back and done the "Iron Byron" swing macro again. And it's interesting because it's much more consistent now, but it is also still not the same each and every time like you would think something like that should/would be. Knowing what we do now about Vsync causing problems seems to signal what I think a lot of people have suspected before: frame rates absolutely are causing issues with swing timings.
I really hope HB is listening and finds a fix for Vsync causing issues. Because if frame rate fluctuations are causing tempos to vary, then not being able to lock those frame rates to help with that is just as frustrating.
