Welcome to week 41, After hanging on to my green thingy last week, it could very well disappear this week. Then again, I suspect not many people will go low this week... Without meaning disrespect to the designer nor the scheduler, if I'm honest, I found this week's tournament frustrating and the course utterly unattractive and a repeat of the same trick over and over again. That could just be me though; maybe others will actually love the course and the way it was set up. If anything, I was consistent this week: -7, -5, -6, -5 for a -23 total. It will be another week of watching the cut line... Best wishes and good luck all, Frans

I have to agree with frans. At one point LITERALLY every pin was set up either behind a huge slope or 4 feet from the front of the green. That's not even close to any real life course you can play. After 3 holes I basically knew this wasn't gonna be my week. Too difficult greens for me. I'll play the other 2 rounds later for the cow. I do like to say though that it can be an alot better course with better pin placements.

Make of it what you will guys. Is it a tough course? Yes. Some will enjoy the challenge.
I'll send a -70 challenge birdie fest in soon to appease the room.

Hi Darryl, That was not my message; I didn’t say the course was too tough. I don’t mind tough courses at all. I just don’t like a course that is basically using the same trick on every hole to artificially make scoring difficult. That’s all. I also understand that you have a tough job and that you cannot please everyone every week. If you would rather not have me comment on courses anymore, just say so and I won’t. Best wishes Frans

Best wishes Frans I understand the frustration, Frans. I do. And feedback is always welcome. There seems to be more frustration building on my end as well though. All 4 pins were rangered on this course with Euro in mind. They said it was challenging, yes. But at no point did I hear anything about it being "too hard" or "artificially difficult". You're a ranger, you can go look at the comments if you want. So what's a guy to do, eh? It's US Open week and I just planned to mimic a difficult course for us on Euro as well, that's all. Seems a trend that if we're not double digits under par, then something (usually the course) is to blame. So.....damned if I do, damned if I don't. Oh well....carry on guys. I'll be quiet now. Maybe just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. PS. -7 in round 1 is a fantastic score by the way. Wouldn't be surprised if that isn't in or near the top 10.

-1 first round with 4 ugly bogeys. Everything that could go wrong did for me. My game wasn't on at all, I blame myself but the course did punish heavily for every mistake. Me personally, I love tough courses. I was one of the rangers and I didn't see any issue with it

I'm not angry I'm just looking forward to next week. Just not my course that's all. And I'll keep saying, designers should put more effort into making the fairways more difficult (and maybe with multiple options) instead of the greens which are already hard enough on most courses. Just my opinion, maybe I should get better at putting

Good evening, I almost created a new thread, lol. But here we are with almost a page filled already. I have to admit that I am one of those people who liked the course. But in my case, I believe it's more because I generally like these slightly geometric designs. I agree with Frans on the point about the pin placements right behind a slope/bunker/nomansland, though. Anyway, I am quite satisfied with my game so far, sitting at -9 (-2 and -7) halfway through. Good luck guys!

Only wandering through as I'll be playing this one for fun this week, but I felt compelled to comment. These were by some way the fairest and best greens in the recent major contest. However, the course is highly strategic with lots of options and risk/reward elements. If you're finding you're constantly coming in over hazards or mounds, I'd suggest you look at whether you could have taken a different line off the tee. Odds are, the riskiest play and challenging the hazards will yield a far better approach. Play safe and expect a trickier approach. Looking forward to playing as a guest. As an outsider, Euro has by far and away the best course selections. If only my game was better

I tend to place better at the tougher venues- birdie fests are definitely not my forte. Looking forward to this.

-4 and -1. Every shot today was right of blue line. My distance to pin had to be over 30. Can’t score like that. Maybe another red mark after that mess

Now I'll hate myself if -5 comes one short cause I missed a 4 footer out of frustration on one of the last holes. Really high scores so far.

I gotta say, seeing the early scores I like this course even more. Its kind of fun to see all of us Euro guys struggling, a lot of over par scores.

The greens and some if the pin positions are a bit much. And as for the slope in that 18th green I had a 55ft, 4ft uphill putt up that and only just made it with a full backswing. I shot -8 first round which leaves me in 2nd place for now. I can see the cut being around -10.

It seems like all designers these days are creating courses with greens that are full of extreme slopes with red and yellow lines everywhere. Most of said courses are designed really well but I feel (and this is only my honest opinion) that they are let down by the very exteme greens. I understand that us as golfers need a challenge but these courses like Fairyland are to far fetched and don't represent real life. Rant over lol. P.S Keep up the good work b101
