All: I'd love to start a team tournament (non-society). Here is my vision: Teams of 2, each playing 2 courses per week (or every other week, not sure on the timing) Team records and playoffs, along with an "individual" record where points are awarded, based on lowest score. (maybe additional point bonuses for an Ace, Albatross etc) I love statistics so any ideas you all can give me that could be point bonuses, that are easily trackable to my eyes, would be great! I could also see an individual "knockout" tournament that could take place as well, after the team playoffs are complete Again, any other ideas, let me hear them The rules I envision: handicap range of say 9-23 or something like that. Teams would be paired in as fair a way as possible, based on handicap level. I'm sorry but i feel that a handicap range is important because this will be fun, but I like competition, and a player needs to be at a certain level to make it fun, yet competitive for all. Separate threads for this tournament: One thread that strictly follows a template for score submission, so it's easy for me to track. Picture proof would be required. Then, you could post your scores on a separate "banter" thread where we all could go hog wild on chit chat, including myself! If your teammate can't play, I understand that extenuating circumstances do occur. However, I'm not finding a replacement for your team. Maybe message me in advance and let me know you won't be able to play, then inform your partner? Then, your partner could play the tracks twice each and post his scores, on behalf of his partner. (It's the only way I can think of that would not penalize the teammate playing and not getting that second score) I'd expect this to be a RARE occurrence. If you're on a team, follow through with your commitment. Missing or forgetting a deadline? Yes it happens, but we're all adults here. Write it down. We all have to work together to make this enjoyable. TGCT greens rules would apply: No chipping on the greens (unless impeded by fringe or over 100 feet away). Gentleman's rule. I'm not going to look for this but if anyone sees it when playing a ghost, tell me. I'll remove them from the individual tournament, deduct a team win, publicly shame them, etc lol Any other ideas for rules, just let me hear them. This idea will take some time for me as I'm new, but I know I can do this, as long as my final rules and guidelines are adhered to. I welcome all of your votes and ideas, but in the long run, this will not be a negotiation.

I really appreciate that you are willing to take this on but you need to protect yourself and not let this become a JOB. Separate threads may confuse things so that may be something to reconsider but the rest I am all for, especially Knockout Tourneys. I think if you give us all an entire week to submit scores then there will be no excuse for not getting scores in on time. Plus it gives you the time to get your end of it done.

That would make scores really easily traceable for you. Then they could post the scores to the thread but not worry about posting their scorecard. Just a thought.

I thought of one more thing. What about people who's handicap fluctuates in and our of the qualification zone? Mine usually hits somewhere between 20 and 25. Right now I'm at 24.something. give it a week or two and I'm sure I'll be back down to 21 or 22. Just depends on how easy/hard the courses are.

That used to drive me NUTS on TGC societies because I'd start a season, improve and then be bumped out because I got better/exceeded the maximum handicap, thus making my season/points worthless in that society. I think a range is good for competition but it'd be a loose guideline.

It's of my opinion that by doing what you suggest, my inbox would be crazy, and that's the last thing I want. Personally, I believe that if I make it VERY clear which thread is for scores and which is for discussion, it would be much easier for me. (All people would need to do is bookmark each thread). I think Ninja's frustration (just speculation) was weeding through all of the "conversation" (which was great!) in order to find scores. Then, each score was posted in their own unique way. Some had pictures, some posted score but no team number, some posted a picture only, nothing else. I would like it all organized and standardized in one thread. Then, the separate communication thread can post scores and trash talk, rant, discuss the good/bad, etc. The communication thread could be completely unorganized as far as I'm concerned. We're here to have fun!

It's much easier when there's one standard way to post scores.

Definitely interested Jason , I haven’t thought of any format ideas as yet but there’s time for that. I think your idea of Mon -> Sun with strict deadline rules etc is the way to go. Cheers.

Sounds like you already have a good idea on how to handle it, especially if spreadsheets are fun for you. If you and others are like me and playing several tourneys simultaneously, Mon-Sun sounds perfect. Dates that are always changing can really foul things up. I'm not sure the handicap thing is necessary, maybe just a good rule of thumb.

May be good for me to learn! I believe a handicap range (loose guideline) would be beneficial and good for me to know, that way I can try and make the teams as even and competitive as possible.

Also on posting your scores if we just keep it simple ie: Team 3, Samuelson Mustang Ridge 60 -11 I think that is a good format but if you prefer it a different way let us know because you are the man in this new league. Oh that's right, someone needs to come up with a name for this new league... suggestions?
