I certainly try to respect everyone, but also understand that we all have different personalities. I'm an easy going guy who wants fun, sarcastic banter occurring. Sarcastic rants are fine. Rants that destroy a course or designer, complaints about my rules etc won't be tolerated. This will all be explained clearly when I begin the recruitment process and again before the season begins. Well, if I say I just didn’t enjoy a course.. it’s not ruining that course or that designer. It’s a personal opinion. I agree yeah if someone was saying it was trash or something. It’s like with real golf. Some courses just don’t appeal to everyone. People do it with real courses all the time (I work in the golf industry and hear it all the time). And I'd like to hear it. Good or bad. If it's good, tell us all why. If it's not so good, tell us all why. It's a fresh slate on this new journey I'm offering. You all are new to me. I will certainly treat it that way

As to the majors thing. We have normal 2 vs 2 matches, but once a month or something, we have a major that puts every team against each other and awards bonus points to the top 3 teams. This could help with tie breakers and make it more competitive so that the tournament isn’t so top heavy. Gives the chance for teams who are struggling the chance to get back into the tournament. Not sure if it could work.. But have like the US Open and the British Open?

Tyler's idea for the major format gave me an idea that would make this all a little more simple. (For regular weeks, not majors)
We can have teams of 2, but maybe getting rid of head to head matches every week. It could be where every team plays and posts their scores and the team's total at the end of the week is up against all the team totals. Points would be awarded according to which place each team finishes.
Here is an example of what the leaderboard might look like at the end of the week (in this example I use 9 teams)
1st Place: Team 7 (-28) 10 points T2nd Place: Team 3 (-26) 8 points T2nd Place: Team 9 (-26) 8 points 3rd Place: Team 1 (-25) 7 points 4th Place: Team 2 (-22) 5 points T5th Place: Team 6 (-19) 4 points T5th Place: Team 8 (-19) 4 points 6th Place: Team 5 (-18) 3 points 7th Place: Team 4 (-15) 2 points
If a team were to finish 8th they would receive 1 point. If a team were to finish 9th they would receive 0 points.
At the end of the regular season, The top 4 or 6 teams with the most points qualify for the playoffs which can be a head to head knock out tournament for the championship.
Thoughts on this format instead of head to head? I think creating match-ups every week is more of a hassle than just scoring all the teams at once.

This would definitely put a different spin on it. In the head-to-heads, I'll see a team with a better stroke total than others, but be lower in the standings because of who they may have played on a given week. Hmmm.

It would also make it easier to have solo tournaments and awards too.

Interesting ideas guys but it's going way beyond simple here, or way beyond me being able to understand.

At the very least, all of this communication may spur other society play and tournaments, which is awesome.

FYI all I'd like to start my idea up around the beginning of May, which would mean comments will be open for another week or so. I'd like to hear some more comments or ideas based on my original post. I'll then start a recruitment thread which will provide explicit details regarding the tournament I'd like to run. At that time, I'll ask for a screenshot of your current handicap if interested in playing.
