I agree on more types of rough/surfaces, but don't give up the designer sliders to subtly adjust each one's 'effects'. Just add a "grass height" slider to go along with the existing two, name them 'rough 1' thru 'rough 4', and we're good.

Totally agree with the suggestion about more variation in types of lies. The three big ones for me: 1) add the functionality for societies to disable vibration. 2) more in-game options for competitive play and tours. 3) different types of courses should feel more different. This is maybe the one thing EA did a lot better imo. Playing on a parkland course felt totally removed from playing on a links whereas on the 2K games fairway is fairway and rough is rough. Some of that third issue is on designers (perhaps me included) who don't utilize the sliders for firmness/roll on their surfaces when creating a course style that calls for it.

One of the things that I feel could make a massive improvement in both immersion and interest to the game is to make the different equipment options make a difference in game. What I mean by this is that, irl, OEM golf equipment companies design several different types of clubs to appeal to different types of players and I would like to see that represented in game. For example, Taylormade currently has two different drivers, two different fairway woods, 3 different hybrids, two different utility irons (which need to be added to the game in general 😉), 6 different types of irons, one line of wedges (3 different bounce options), several different putters, and several different golf balls. Some clubs/balls are designed to help beginners/less skilled players play better. Other clubs/balls are designed to help better/more consistent players get the highest performance out of their game. To explain what I mean here, let’s use Taylormade’s Stealth 2 and Stealth 2+ drivers as an example. The Stealth 2 is designed with features to help less skilled players hit higher, straighter drives. This could be reflected in game with a small boost to swing plane, tempo, and forgiveness balanced by small penalties to workability and carry distance. The Stealth 2+ is designed with features to help better players hit specific shots and fine tune their ball flight to their preference. This could be reflected in game by boosting workability and carry distance while penalizing forgiveness, swing plane, and tempo. Piggy-backing on the more in-depth equipment, I’d also like to see the addition of licensed shafts and grips to the game. Proper shaft fit can make quite a noticeable difference in ball flight and distance and different grips would add another level of fun customization opportunity. Isn't this basically what we had in the previous version of the game, perhaps with a little more nuance ?

And a opportunity to bet your own matchplay purse . I wanna challenge Craig 10000 coins winner takes all . Setting up a 8 man or 16 man matchplay bracket within your society would be pretty awesome. Would love to raise stakes each shot. Also on par 3's a closest to pin bonus.

Isn't this basically what we had in the previous version of the game, perhaps with a little more nuance ? Maybe a little but not really. 2k21 had the 3(maybe 4 if you count pink)color tiers but they didn’t really mean much besides how far you could hit them. The silver and gold tier stuff was supposed to be more forgiving but I never really noticed much of a difference and I don’t think anyone else did either judging from the videos and streams I’ve seen. My suggestion would first involve getting rid of the tier system entirely and just use a numerical rating system (1-100) to represent the different attributes of each individual piece of equipment. The second part of my suggestion is to essentially balance each piece of equipment using the aforementioned numerical attribute system. Therefore, you don’t get into a situation where one club/ball is the “best” and the rest of them are rendered irrelevant. The other point of my original post was to ask that different clubs’ attributes be represented in a more accurate way as per their real life counterpart. For example, Blades and muscle cavity back irons would have less overall distance and forgiveness but have max workability and distance control. Players distance irons would offer less workability and distance control with increased distance and forgiveness. Game improvement irons would offer max distance and forgiveness at the expense of poor distance control and workability. Therefore, there’s not really any one club that’s “better” then the rest. It’s more based on what works best for your game. With the player archetypes we have now (which I like), you can select the equipment that works best for what you want it to do rather that having to “grind” to unlock a specific piece of equipment. Having different licensed shafts to choose from that actually impact the performance of your equipment would really help add another layer of customization and make your virtual set of clubs feel more immersive.

Isn't this basically what we had in the previous version of the game, perhaps with a little more nuance ? That's what I was thinking.. The club fittings for head/shaft/grip give you the variance in the club stats... The way the club fittings work right now feels a bit gimmicky in my opinion. I haven’t been playing the game long enough to know for sure but it seems like they’re completely random in the way they’re awarded? Please Correct me if I’m wrong. I think it would be more interesting if those same fittings were just put on individual shafts and/or heads that could be purchased rather than unlocked. To tie in with my sponsorship re-tool, it would be interesting if upon unlocking max sponsorship level, you could go to that particular OEM’s fitting facility (for example, Taylormade has “The Kingdom”) and design your own special equipment with exactly the specs you want. If we’re going to talk about the fittings, I think it would be cool if you could use your virtual currency to hire coaches that could improve things like swing speed at the expense of short game control or improve your putting at the expense of ball striking. Things like that. My experience with the fittings is that they seem to be fairly one-sided and that they just give you a boost which just feels a little arcade-y for my taste. If your average driver carry is 270 yards, you’re not going to gain 25 yards with a snap of the fingers. You have to earn it. Tour guys train the entire off season for that kind of thing. I’d like to see that reflected in game. I feel it would help make career mode a lot deeper if there were more long term rewards available.

Another thing I just thought of. I love the addition of caddies to the game! Make them matter! I’d love the ability to hire better caddies as my player gets more notoriety. The trade off would be that better caddies get a higher portion of your tournament winnings and have higher performance expectations fro you. It would also be cool if they had personality attributes that could effect the amount of positive effect they have on your game based on your chemistry together.

Acquiring them are a bit random - but you can upgrade them to a higher level so that eventually you have all legendary fittings. Once you have the legendaries, you can then craft those to what you want.. for example, let's say you want a power Head for your driver - you can take 3 different legendary fittings and change them to be specific for Driver HEAD (or Grip, or Shaft depending on what you're looking for) - and can specify whether you want it to be for 1 of the variants like Power, Timing, Transition, Shaping, etc.. you then equip that to your club for the boost in attributes. So a Legendary Power Head fitting for a driver will have various attribute numbers enhanced - Power being the one with the highest number. Once equipped, your standard 275 distance driver will now be something like 290 distance. If you haven't spent any time looking at the fitting options for your clubs, you're missing out. Once clubs are equipped with those fittings - the standard numbers that all the base clubs have will be different based on what you equip. So you can really fine tune the equipment for your play style - and in some cases to offset the attributes you get as a base by picking your golfer's archetype. I recently switched back to the Power archetype and fitting my Head, Shaft, and Grip with Timing Fittings since that attribute on the power archetype are pretty low.. Then, of course, if you like the look of the Ping driver - equip that. It's only cosmetic, so the different brands really are just personal preference, but it is the fittings that will differentiate the actual values on thoses clubs.. Sorry for being so long winded..

I said after a while you get everything and it won't continue to help because you are maxxed out already. Want more power? Sacrifice accuracy. Vice versa.

Don’t apologize for being long winded bud I love these kinds of discussions! I guess the driving factor behind what I’m saying is I don’t care for having “unlock”, “grind”, and “play the game long enough” to get the fittings that I want to suit how I play the game. I have messed with the fittings and I like where the game is going in that they’re trying to introduce some variability into how people play. I just think that goal could be accomplished in a more interesting way that better incorporates some of the things that already exist in game while at the same time providing an avenue for additional added content. It is my opinion that as an aspiring professional golfer (in game) I would expect to have access to just about whatever I want in regards to equipment and fittings (i.e. having my 275 driver jump to 290 even if I can’t hit the broad side of a barn with it). That’s why I’m pitching for the different equipment to have different attributes that I can see and then purchase what I want rather than having to wait on the random chance that I get what I want as a random reward for playing a round. A lot of this idea hinges on introducing the concept of using the game’s virtual currency as a reward for tournament performance. That way, if I win or at least play well in a few tournaments, I have enough VC to purchase exactly what I want. I don’t like having the OEM equipment/balls being cosmetic only. It matters in real life, it would be cool (at least in my opinion 🤷🏻♂️) if it mattered in game as well. 2k/HB has paid the companies to get their stuff into the game. Why not try to maximize that investment? This is all coming from a guy (me) who is super interested in golf equipment and tech so maybe it’s not a big deal to the majority.
