Can’t believe someone would pursue an opinion poll on a golf video game online forum without first assuring objective standards. For shame! ^^^^^ LOL! Where is the "Sarc" font Mike?

Given golf video game's history, we are lucky to have the TGC series. Sure there are flaws, but the games are robust and solid. Kept me invested for 5 years now.
The best part of past TGCs was the gameplay's organic and natural feel. For TGC1 through 2019, HB said to its players "Here are some tools and abilities, now get out there and figure it out."
The courses were blank canvases with 18 holes. The player painted, and experience was rewarded over time.
Now in 2K21 with the meters and forgiveness with timing and putting, the gameplay just feels unnatural compared with past versions. The little extras make playing golf feel like flying on auto-pilot.
I'm a firm believer that achieving consistent Perfect/Gray is improvable over time, but it could take weeks and months. What's probably most frustrating is the lack of day-to-day consistency, which seems like a common gripe, myself included.

I'm on the bubble. I'm at a disadvantage as I've no history with the total TGC franchise. Picked it up in the tail end of 2019 series. My game play is at stasis meaning I'm probably were I should be owing to how much or little time I now put into it. Been at it 6 months straight and frankly I'm mentally tired of it. I just play the event rounds with minor practice rounds. Basically I'm forcing myself to complete the obligatory rounds. I thought that the recent Masters tourney (real one) would have boosted or rekindled my enthusiasm, but no. I can't say that the game is busted or lacking as my game play cannot be used as a credible instrument of measurement.
I firmly believe that TGCtours is what keeps the franchise going as well as other online societies...much grateful for Doley finding a place for hackers like me to play.
Just my opinion, nothing more.

The hate from the game must be from console users, this game is a gem on PC. Yes there are problems with penalty drops which the last game had also, the splash shot is crazy overpowered with unrealistic spin from heavy rough outside of bunkers but I don't use it outside of bunkers anyway. There is a problem where your ghost or live partner's ball disappears with fixed cam but I think nobody here uses fixed cam anyway. Pitch appears as chip on live play but not for ghost play. Graphics wise the upgrade is huge on PC, playing the game over 60 fps with VRR is such a great experience. courses look so much better than TGC2019 the game feels better and it is such a better experience than before and a massive graphics boost, got to the point where TGC2019 bugged me and I really disliked it but I love this game. HUGE improvement when TGC2019 was a step backwards from TGC2 apart from the short game bar putting.

HUGE improvement when TGC2019 was a step backwards from TGC2 apart from the short game bar putting. As both a PC and XBox One X console version owner of the game, I can see where some hate could be coming from the console users. The tempo dependent swing interface lends itself better to the higher frame rate performance in which most of the PC users who play this game are able to experience it. Of all the games I've played on a console and a PC, none of them play as radically different as PGA TOUR 2K21 between the two. This is why I'm constantly beating the drum for HB Studios to figure out a way to allow PS5 and XBox Series X owners to play the game at 60 FPS, who are like me and already enjoying the game at that frame rate, with 20%, or less powerful hardware than either of those consoles possess... it makes ZERO sense to me why the game should have to languish at such a punitive frame rate on those two processing beasts!?

Voted option two as I've been having a blast with the game. I hadn't played a golf game since Rory McIlroy back in 2015 so I may be biased as I never had the chance to play TGC games.
I enjoy the challenge of hitting perfect shots - I've tracked my perfect shot percentage throughout all of November and my numbers have increased a fairly significant amount. Seeing the improvement has kept me motivated and enjoying my rounds.
That being said, I do agree HB could make a handful of improvements to the game.

Have no issues really with the XB hand we are dealt against everyone else. My issues is the crashing and multiplayer gaming is FUBAR. And they release another stupid assed holiday patch and not address some of these fixable issues I am going to go on a scorched earth tour.

I just played my second round at Fox Chapel G C and it was a disaster. 1st round I shot a -5, 2nd round I shot a +3 which means I will not make the cut. I am playing on my new Xbox Series X and I thought it would be great but thanks to HB Studios there are glitches in the putting which cost at least 5 strokes. What is it going to take for HB Studios to acknowledge the problem with swing glitches on the Xbox Series X?

By far the multiplayer crashing has really made me not like the game as much. And the society leaderboard garbage, where people have played their rounds and Society admins can't find their scores. Then they have to ghost the scores in a casual round. Just horrible. Don't forget those great flying trees in the designer.

What a catastrophe HB has created by not having the game play right at launch and 3 months later. But to go into that new highly upgraded Series X and have the game get worse is laughable.

The scores here vs TGC1 aren't all that different. I know I didn't have to think so much about my swing in TGC1 but it's also hard to recall exactly what my errors and misses were. I've said all along making a golf game that so reliant on a straight swing path and then adding tempo is asking for larger deviation between competitors, and brings cheating into it too. Granted TGC1 had its issues but it did feel more natural, to your point.

I want to participate but man, these options are just bad. They aren't even really the same continuum of one general thing/thought/idea with a range of responses, and don't offer much in the way of a "middle ground" response. My write-in vote would go for something like "it's fun, basically same enjoyment level as last game - each have big flaws, but not the same ones - but frustrating that HB continues to leave so much potential on the table. This game, as with the others, could be epic, but it's certainly still worth playing in it's current state (it's also all we have so...not much choice in it)" ps my write in required an addition sheet of blank paper, full response couldn't fit on write-in slot on the official ballot
