That just wasn’t fun. I’m officially defeated after these last two weeks, no enthusiasm for the way the tour is going with courses/setups of late, but I guess others are enjoying it - which is great, honestly I’m glad some are having the fun I used to here - but it’s just...yea, deflating, I guess. I don’t want to be the guy who just comes here and complains constantly, especially when it doesn’t really matter, so I’ll leave it at that. GL everyone. Didn’t play last week. Won’t play this week... you’re not alone. For me it’s coupled with some exciting other things to play and being very busy socially (see TST thread 😂)

Not that I even bothered attempting to qualify - I played this for fun and am -15 after 54h. Definitely some silliness with the pin positions. I think in Rd 1 I played the b9 in -7.

Maybe in future there won't be so many complaints about courses being "too easy". I don't know why we don't take a leaf out of some of the established in game societies, namely Taylor Made Tour and Casuals Golf Club, courses are generally set to default conditions, sometimes a bit softer/easier for variety, wind is generally low/medium/high/default but again bit of variety in every round, scoring is what it is but very rarely does anyone complain about stupid, unenjoyable, unplayable setups.

Can't say that I disagree. The only weeks it should be stupid tough are the US Open (tough course) and British Open (tough conditions) weeks with maybe a random round or two at other random tourneys for a change of pace.

I agree the courses have been getting a bit over the top. I’m not sure we can blame the scheduler. There’s a fine line right now of making the tourney somewhat fair to everyone. We obviously have a fairly large contingent taking advantage of exploits that destroy a normal golf course. In my opinion the designers are catering to these outliers in the attempt to give separation the leaderboard. The problem is the rest of the field suffers. In hindsight maybe after 3 DQ the players should have been moved to an alternate PGA or tour which may have alleviated some of the insane layouts and setups. That said, I blame those players who don’t have any morals for the state of the courses at this time. It’s just not fun for the mediums. I play but for no other reason than just to play. I have no nerves or real excitement because I don’t care anymore. I pray the new game solves this and maybe we can play golf again shortly.

This week was fine (for me anyways) considering it was the U.S. Open (a Major).

Well, I played. 😏😏
I didn't rage. I didn't play my pull. I didn't make the cut. 😎😎
I can take some positives away...
I putted well for the most part. Swing is getting better. Hit some nice shots.
It was quite nice to be honest. Felt like a "real" round of golf with my buddies.
I'm really trying to hit it more in the cone, so it's a start.
Better than last week.
I want to practice the swing, but it's just so mundane.
I'll load up and keep firing away.
Here's to my scores staying up!
Small victories...

Well, that was a grind. -27 for me. I was looking forward to playing this course because I felt it owed me something from playing here five years ago, when I finished second to some guy that played out of his mind to take the title; then disappeared into the sunset to never be heard of again. Not having practiced the course, I was very surprised to see how much it had changed from the original setup. The original course has always been one of my favourite courses, and it always played on the tough side: but this version is just duck or no dinner on every hole: I mostly had no dinner

Surely you know this, but using the practice swing function allows for about three times as many practice swipes than the driving range. Could help with locking in that path.

I'm not sure what it says about a course when I'm annoyed to find out I'm making the cut and I have to go back out and play 2 more rounds.
What happens if I make the cut and dont finish? Do I still get a withdraw? I finished two speed rounds but probably would have been happier not playing...

That was a tough course! But making birdie never felt better. Plenty of mistakes and just misses, but not bad considering the difficulty here. Went for -24 which should be in the top 25 or so. Can't complain about that finish in a Major On to next week...

In my opinion the designers are catering to these outliers in the attempt to give separation the leaderboard. The problem is the rest of the field suffers. How would a designer cater to the exploiters though? I doubt any designer thinks about what the leaderboard will look like while designing a course. Or are you saying that scheduling overly tricked up courses every week only benefits the exploiters? I think all tour levels would be a lot better off if they just picked a wind direction and left the rest of the conditions default though. Or leave it up to the designer to specify 4 playable rounds if he wants his course on tour.
