Good question. Unless I get pushback from those already designing I would tend to say the tips as that was the spirit of teh element in my mind. Any other thoughts on that? I would say from the intended tees for CC usage which let's extra length be added for people of higher skills to be able to play without overpowering the course. It's not an element I'm shooting to add so no dog in the fight to me, just my $0.02 as a player in the community.

that's what I'm looking for. Let's go with that. I'll update the info so folks know what they are working with. Should make some folks feel better about that choice. HOWEVER...it actually becomes MORE of a challenge as now folks have to design FOR different tee sets and not many are good at that.

My only thought would be more for the CC schedulers as not all courses selected for CC are played from the tips, I would guess... but this is a CC contest, so to me the tips should be CC friendly, no? I plan on adding at least 3 tee positions on my course, so I could technically meet requirement for length based on the farthest position, but that may not be what is selected when scheduled... If I'm that lucky anyway..

I see that but I think the schedulers can use whatever tee they want to use. There is no policy to use the tips that I'm aware of.

Hi, is there a required yardage limit. Also do we have to place tournament objects? Lastly, can we use assigned tees (Example: using the front tees and save the championship tees for other events)? Thanks!

The yardage is simply one of the options for required elements. Tees are your discretion. Tourney objects are entirely optional. If you do them though...they will be judged

I'm glad I haven't entered for the reasons I gave in the second post on page three, and even more so given I'm away on holiday from July 5-14, right before the deadline for publishing.
Going back to the brief discussion about work in progress courses... I'm a busy man - family and work see to that. I'm taking time and care with my latest project The Swiss Wall. It's been ongoing for 3 months now and I'm on the 14th. How about a 'minor' contest if you will where works in progress are allowed? Even if I had entered the contest, devoted all my reasonable free time (ie not at the expense of my family) and started The Swiss Wall from scratch on May 1, I'd have still struggled to have completed by the deadline and done the course and myself justice.
An alternative to allowing works in progress is to have a 'minor' contest with a much longer time frame to complete the course - say 4, 5 or even 6 months. As much as some people would love to be able to, some of us don't have the time to dedicate to the game like somebody like Andre for example (though when his baby arrives in September, he'll learn what I feel like!)

We definitely understand your point of view and have thought through this before, but in the official TGCT contests we will never allow WIPs and are not likely to move beyond a 2.5 month window. Data supports that 95% of the designers can make that happen with high quality projects. I do apologize, I know that’s not the answer some want to hear. With that said, anybody is welcome to host their own design contests with whatever rule set they prefer. Just post up in the community events section if you run one. I do feel the need to offer three main counterpoints to your argument. 1) We all have busy lives and/or things to deal with: I registered for the Major Design contest on Feb 1, my three year old son went into the hospital for a kidney transplant on Feb 12 and didn’t come home for three weeks, then dealt with significant recovery issues in March that was very stressful. I published The Mantis, arguably my best solo design ever, on March 31, two weeks before the April 15 deadline. 2) Time management and speed are part of the skill exhibited in design contests: I began my CC course in a stream yesterday, where I created a new plot, macro sculpted it, routed 18 holes that included planning for required elements, surfaced greens and fairways on 7 holes, and then laid out the clubhouse area and built a custom clubhouse... all in about 4 hours. Being able to use the tools efficiently is critical to success in contests. 3) ALL contestants would benefit from such a rule, not just the ones asking for it: you have to remember that the benefit you’re looking for won’t happen in a vacuum. In other words, you’re thinking about how this would help you, but not considering how it could hurt you. Do you want to battle Reeb, CrazyCanuck, Staypuft, and others if they can enter a course they’ve fiddled with for 9 months? I certainly don’t! These rules actually help level the playing field a little bit because everybody is under the same constraints. Hopefully that’s helpful info regarding the TGCTours position on this.

Base plot sculpt, and a rough routing for the holes.. What did I get myself into! LOL

Maybe when I retire then we can have the TGC Tours Old Bastards Design Contest on TGC2043. Or if we don't have a second child, perhaps I can enter on TGC2034.

Anyone else incorporating ALL the requirements? Come on, who's embracing this challenge with me?
