mmm...interesting with the required elements...and being able to stream is a plus. Might give this a shot. Need to be in the right mindframe as I don't want to take up a spot and not finish. Guess I have a few days to think about it it sounds like.

The course I’m about to release hits 6 of these elements...so it’s not too hard to incorporate 3 of them.
Question on the 3 shot par5...does it mean there’s zero chance to EVER reach in two even with helpful wind, bounces, etc? Or on each given round based on the setup, at least one of your Par5s isn’t reachable? e.g. you have one par5 play 600 yds due north, one 600 yds due south, so despite wind direction, one or the other is unreachable?

well I'm not sure how into detail to go here as that's part of the challenge. A true three shot could be defined a few different ways. I will say that the element incorporates only ONE hole so I wouldn't worry about changing holes up based on the wind too much. Even a "true" 3 shot par 5 may end up being reached by something stupid...I mean...cart path+hurricane... or whatever. It's the design itself I'm talking about, not just the length or the way a player decides to play it.
Can anyone else explain this better than I am? Basically the hole is MADE to be a true three shot hole. It's NOT designed to deal with a 2nd shot reaching the green. How you interpret that is up to you and part of the challenge. Make sense?

Yes, that makes more sense. There were quite a few ways to make a three shot par5, but you're basically saying it's built to be a three shot par5 that should only on a very rare occasion be reachable in 2 (if at all possible)

You can do it however you want. As long as it’s designed as a three shot the ability to reach in 2 is not the single determining factor. If you design it well then the length is not required.

If it helps, hole 13 at Old Gobhar Farms and holes 1 and 5 at The Mantis are designed as 3-shot par 5s, and they will play that way nearly 95% of the time, but that doesn't mean they would never be reachable in two. But the genesis of the architecture of the holes is intended to be three shots, and how the player navigates his choices through those three shots.

CiB0RG I’d be happy to judge if you need more.

I really like the required element choices and I really like the five places available on a lottery system as not anybody can enter at the start time due to timezone, work or whatever.
Two questions... can I use a course I am already working on but it has never been published in any form? Alternatively, can I use a port from TGC2? The reason I am asking is that the rookie design contest consuming the vast majority of my limited free time and starting from scratch I seriously doubt I will have the time to finish the design as I'm not prepared to do the same again!

Official TGC Tours decision:
Unfortunately, we can’t allow ports or WIPS in any contest. That’s a slippery slope that might be helpful for some, but becomes inequitable to most very quickly.
