As you might expect, scoring is incredibly close. All four courses are deserving of their spots in the final four. We are still in the process of evaluating the matchups, but hope that the finalists can be announced on Sunday. It's been really hard to nit-pick, as the courses all bring a different dynamic to the table. We don't have a matchup between similar courses where we can say that one course did something better than its opponent. To steal a scampi00 line ... My name is Jeremy and I approve this message. |

Guys. Here’s what I can tell you. A verdict has been reached in one of the semifinals, and it was not easy. We’re talking the change of one point in one category would have been enough to flip the result. We are still waiting on the judges in the other semifinal to render a verdict but, given the courses remaining in this contest, this is no easy task on the judges’ end. We’re literally splitting hairs at this point, which speaks to the great quality of the final four.
We’ll get you the semifinal results as soon as both winners are determined.
On a side note, once semifinal results have been released I will be happy to release my judging notes to the four remaining contestants.

CiB0RG brought his A-Game with the ultra-clean, technically exceptional Blunderbuss - a venue perfect for hosting events for competitive novices. In the other corner, ryanjmcconnell brought the goods with an amazingly high-quality, strategic coastal dunes course fit for intermediate competitions. Judges agreed that Blunderbuss outpaced its opponent in the technical aspects (59-56; 54-51). Judges were also in agreement that The Dunes offered a slightly superior experience in terms of playability (85-84; 75-71). Judges were split with one judge marking a draw (42-42) and the other giving a slight nod to Lake Marie (45-44). Once the scores were tallied for both courses, the judges were split. After a lengthy discussion, the judges reached a conclusion that The Dunes at Lake Marie should advance to the finals based on its superior playability. Here are some quotes from the judges: [It] should be noted that Blunderbuss was an excellent course. [Blunderbuss's] bunkers were the best in the contest.Where Lake Marie pulled through was with superior playability [that] put emphasis on strategy and angles. Bolder sculpting in the fairways and on the greens ultimately were [the] deciding factor.| 1 | Blunderbuss | 88.1 | | 4 | The Dunes at Lake Marie | 88.2 |

No wonder the voting took so damn long!!! Because we're focusing on playability across multiple tees, it's taking a very long time to evaluate each course, but each one of these courses deserves its full due. We really are splitting hairs when choosing among them. Realistically, any of the top 4 would be a worthy winner. |

Coming into the contest I never thought I would have even been able to put up a fight against someone like ryanmcconnell. I'm thrilled to have finished in the final four of this contest considering the number of fantastic courses in it! I'm leaving this contest a much better designer than I entered it. I want to say Thanks to ErixonStone and all the judges for their time and effort running this contest. It was a lot of fun to be a part of! Good luck in the finals Ryan!!! Hard to be too disappointed getting eliminated by such an awesome course! My hat is off to you my friend! Thanks for the positive comments about Blunderbuss guys! There will be plenty more where that came from!  |

Missed this in all the events of yesterday, but wanted to say excellent job to both ryanmcconnell & CiB0RG. This was an excruciating match to judge, and didn't I feel right about either of these courses home but, ultimately that was the job we were tasked with doing. Guys, let me know and I'll happy pass along my notes as you both got a lot of great things going with your courses. Justin, glad you're not hanging your head because your course was excellent. Ryan, congrats and best of luck to you in the finals. |
