I received zero death threats from any In fairness, it's hard to fire bomb your house when your country lives under 10 feet of snow

I'd also have to fly over there. It would turn into an expensive death threat to carry out.

Ute Forrest offered a wide-open, playable course, while Muir Woods challenged players' decision-making and patience. Overall, Ute Forrest is more enjoyable for a single play, and it took some time to warm up to Muir Woods. But in the end, Muir Woods' superior sculpting and wider variety of holes was just enough to edge out Ute Forrest. 2 | Muir Woods Golf Club | 80.4 | 7 | Ute Forrest Country Club | 78.3 |
Winner: Muir Woods Golf Club (SkinniePost)Congratulations to SkinniePost for reaching the Semi-Finals, where Muir Woods will meet either Platinum Point or Blue Maiden Sweden G&CC.

Congrats to Scott! Looks like it was indeed a close one. And for that I’m proud. To get that close to beating a course like Muir Woods is surely an accomplishment for me. Thanks for running this Patrick! Much appreciated to you and all the judges for volunteering their time for our benefit! Good luck to the rest of the courses still left.

Incredibly playable course. I told him via PM that I sort of expected to lose... Due to the metrics for Round 2. Anyways... Congrats on designing such a solid course for the competition.

Platinum Point served up a links-on-the-beach dunes course, while Blue Maiden delivered a waste-bunkered parkland style. Both courses offered some strategic and risk/reward holes. Both courses featured aggressive, interesting, and fair greens. In the end, after many, many plays and discussions, Platinum Point's superior sightlines and bolder sculpting, and its wider variety of holes nudged it ever so slightly past the beautiful Blue Maiden. 3 | Platinum Point | 86.7 | 6 | Blue Maiden Sweden G&CC | 85.5 |
Winner: Platinum Point (beef)Congratulations to beef for reaching the Semi-Finals, where Platinum Point will meet Muir Woods. So, that wraps up the quarterfinal judging with all the top seeds advancing to the semi-finals. I do want to point out that these results are heavily dictated by matchups. In the quarterfinals, the second-highest scoring course lost its matchup. Part of that is attributable to the differences in scale among judges, but it also highlights the high quality of courses in this contest, and just how close the scoring is. Semi-final Matchups: 1. Blunderbuss (CiB0RG) vs. 4. The Dunes at Lake Marie (ryanjmcconnell) 2. Muir Woods Golf Club (SkinniePost) vs. 3. Platinum Point (beef) I am really excited about these matchups. These could both really go either way. Courses in the semi-finals are getting a fresh set of judges for the next round. For instance, Judge 1 was involved in scoring the Blunderbuss/Maka Sichu matchup and is now judging Muir Woods vs. Platinum Point. Will the new judges see the courses differently? I can't wait to find out!

^^ Wow, glad I'm not judging these semi-finals, this will NOT be easy! I really enjoyed all four of these courses very much for different reasons, so I'll be an interested spectator awaiting the results to see who gets to go to the finals.

I can't wait to find out! Congrats to our four semi-finalists on well-deserved victories. I can attest to how close a couple of these matchups were to swinging the other way, and for our four who's run has come to an end, you have nothing to hang you head about. Your future in the designer is very bright and, hopefully, you will take what you've learned here and apply it going forward. Something that's come from this contest that I didn't expect going in is how much "risk" has played a factor. What I mean by that was how bold were your design choices and how well did you go about pulling them off. Ultimately, I think that's what put a couple of courses over the top in the quarterfinals. I went in thinking we'd see a little safer courses, especially in a rookie comp, but you guys have really pulled out all the stops and should be commended. For those of you going on into the Invicta, take heed of this, as taking the right risks at the right time may help you knock out some of the higher-seeded guys in your group. Take it from me, who's lost a contest or two by playing things a little too close to the vest. Brian and I have already touched base but, LocoOnTheSoco , chilihotkey & toddfather feel free to PM me for my judging notes of your courses. Can't remember if you asked for them previously and there's a lot of pages of thread to dig thru to try to find if you did.

Congrats beef and good luck in the semi-final!, i didnt expect to come that close too you And thanks too all the judges too, great job! And to everyone who played my course, its been awesome to watch the course being played/hearing your feedback and hopefully most of you enjoyed your round, Getting enough plays to get a course handicapped seemed well out of reach until now. Ill be back! (Hopefully TGC2020 turns out great, or maybe sooner if the upcoming patch is good so i can start playing again) mayday_golf83 ill gladly take any notes you have

It was really close and could have gone either way, on another day you would have won. Given your score, I think you can feel pretty unlucky. You've set a high bar for yourself and I'm looking forward to your next track.

These score just goes to show you how good all the top 8 courses were! I know I didn't make the cut but I am proud of my 1st course and you all should be proud of yours. Well done to our top 8 and good luck in the Semi's ( CiB0RG, ryanmcconnell, SkinniePost, beef)

As you might expect, scoring is incredibly close. All four courses are deserving of their spots in the final four.
We are still in the process of evaluating the matchups, but hope that the finalists can be announced on Sunday.
It's been really hard to nit-pick, as the courses all bring a different dynamic to the table. We don't have a matchup between similar courses where we can say that one course did something better than its opponent.
