If we do a bootleg tourney and it's already PC-only, we might as well also make it the collab tourney that we never do because we don't want to exclude console guys....... There are rumours of a collab-off in the works... Fancy taking down the DAM?

Here's a question (mostly for Chadgolf). Seeing as all the files we have are theme swaps of a single plot, I'm assuming that means that it's doable to take a WIP and transfer it into a different theme? Since these courses can't be published, and I've had issues moving them from their perspective themes into official themes, I'm wondering if that can be done in the opposite direction. Say, designing a layout in delta, then porting it to Atlantic Beach for planting, while leaving a workable delta version of the plot for wider publish. Yes that’s possible. I’ve never had good luck switching themes - the trees and plants always seem to end up as random stuff for me and I think it’s horrible. I don’t know what would happen to global plants or animals when you change themes... since they all died when Global Warming sponsored by HB Studios got rid of winter.

The course I am working on now, TPC Old White (Lidar) is being done in Rustic theme, but I switch to Desert theme to put in the heavy rough near anyplace that has light rough edging (fairways, greens, etc.) because it makes it easier to see the missing heavy rough painting. I have switched back and forth a couple of times and have not noticed any detrimental effects on trees or plants.

I'm wondering about the assets for the Winter theme. I was under the impression that Winter was left out because it wasn't worth the effort to update the art assets. I guess some assets are still accessible by the game. Are they the old assets, i.e. the non-speedTree ones that were present in TGC2?
It seems odd that HB would go through with updating them if they weren't going to release them. But then again, this is HB.

On my fictional course, when I switch themes I get MONSTROUS trees, in some instances estimated to be well over 500ft tall...but even then I think it's more for planted trees, not autogen.

It's because the memory just recognises trees/bushes as certain numbered items within a theme. Hence item 14 in delta will be different in boreal etc. Therefore, when you switch, you get its counterpart.
Famously worked out well for the Nomad.

Do you know why it does the 'giant trees' sometimes? same # item in a different theme makes sense, but I don't understand why even when you make items larger than stock, I'm not holding down the button long enough to make them THAT much bigger.

Different objects scale at different speeds, and have different ranges of size. If you change from an object that can't be resized very much to something that can be resized a LOT - giant trees.

Hmm. So that's suggesting that it's my oversized bushes turning into trees. That actually makes sense as the early bush slots in Swiss will definitely correspond to trees in some other themes. And if many of them are sized up for 3-5 seconds for making 'forest underbrush'
...well that's where the 500ft tall trees must be coming from.

Yeah the whole thing is stupid. There's no distinction between bushes, trees, and dead spooky scooby doo stuff.
Sometimes you can scale, sometimes you can't, but it just plugs it in and goes. That's why I don't recommend it, everything is jumbled together.

Just want to say thank you to GDog for hooking it up on the Discord, because this weekend I began messing with the Atlantic Beach theme and it is sweet. Living in Atlantic Beach myself and south florida for a period of time, it always bugged me that you couldn't create a Florida/Carolina style course with Pines and Palms and this theme allows you to do that. Obviously I will not able to publish this, but I am four holes in (I will publish pics later) and this course looks awesome. It is fun to really create something realistic looking for those types of environments.

You might be aware of this already but we actually have a thread going for posting pics of work done in the "Black Market" themes. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we'd love to see what you've done in the AB theme. There are also a bunch of great holes built by Matt, Andre (Scottsdale theme but still beautiful), and a couple others. tgctours.proboards.com/thread/21583/market-course-design-picture-thread
