Think this society is another one that bit the dust. Will the PC ever get a quality long term one (as Hershey was becoming) to stay the course? B.Smooth13 , i think its time you started one... warhawk137 (Royal Golf Academy) and inflames47 (Inglorious Basterd's) societies are still running strong as far as I know. My designer Hall of Fame society as well. R.G.A follows the same schedule as Hershey.

Thought I would quickly drop a line that I have reopened this society, although in a different format. I will no longer be reviewing courses, but rather more or less just using this as a personal playlist for the few rounds that I sneak in between designing. It is super casual, with 2 rounds at one course per week, and I can probably guarantee a run through August or so before I lose interest in the fall. I'm sure everyone has their societies pretty much locked in at this point, but perhaps there will be some interest in seeing 2 pin locations at what I hope will be good courses.
This week I selected The Sleeping Bear Par 3, two rounds, which expires tonight. I went with a shorter time frame because of the short course, and plugged in one round behind it at Pinehurst to round out the week.

Added the Winterstone for this coming week. The dates are weird for me, so I actually think it starts today and runs for 7 days, but could be 6, who knows.

If it isn't too late, the CC Am version is probably the better version of the course. I fixed some weird green sculpting and corrected a hole whose par was wrong.

Off the top of my head (I'm at work right now), I saw the two versions and compared the pars, and picked the CC Am version. I'd say I'm about 80% certain on that.

Just finished my rounds at the Winterstone, and enjoyed the course. Slower greens were definitely hard to get used to. It said 17 hours left when I started, so I think it ends tonight, in case anyone wants to sneak some rounds in.
I will be taking a break next week, as I will be on vacation. I have a little too much going on to sneak a mini event in before I leave on Sunday, so the next event will start on Monday, March 11th, at Charles Banks Golf Club. This one has been on my list for a long time, and after looking the course back up again, it's an homage to Charles "Steamshovel" Banks, an understudy of C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor. As I'm working on my own McRaynor tribute, I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

Through one round at Charles Banks, and liking it so far. Nice to see an original attempt at the MacRaynor/Banks style, and an inspiration for my own MacRaynor fictional design, as well as an upcoming Raynor RCR that I have recently broken ground on. Next week, starting either this Sat or Sun, is The Heritage by joegolferg. Been looking forward to playing this one.

Not sure. I would have to check when I get home. My game is terrible now due to a loose controller, so I wouldn't put it past me to have selected the easiest version.

I didn't initially choose the championship course, because 7400 yards and 187 greens doesn't usually speak to me, but I ended up switching. This one wasn't too bad on me, though. Finished -6 I think for the two rounds, which is pretty good for me. Next week's course will be Bearded Pelican. So joegolferg, I recognized some familiar looking holes, such as 17 and 18, and the 2nd stood out to me as well. Did you do any measuring of Harbour Town, such as trying to replicate the order and arrangement of the plot? Or is everything here just done freehand with Harbour Town only serving as an inspiration? I feel like if I were to make something like, say, Cal Club, I would want to mimic the hole layouts and then try to replicate the real holes without any measuring. Wouldn't name it Cal Club, as I wouldn't consider it an RCR, but would give me the Cal Club feel without having to invest RCR-level hours.

I built the course completely free hand. I think it's important when you're doing fictional inspirations to not set strict rules such as precise measurements and exact routing etc. I prefer to have more freedom and room for expression of idea's but with the inspiration of a real life course. At the end of the day I'm not trying to completely mimic the courses that I'm inspired by.
With that said I do like to mimic certain holes that are very close to the real thing. You mentioned the 2nd,17th and 18th. They are the exact three holes that I intended to be very accurate to actual Harbour Town holes. I like to do this as it gives the players a sly subliminal message of sorts that tells them they're playing Harbour Town or any other inspired course whatever it may be. Also to add to that, what I have started to do now is loosely copy the actual routing and almost all of the par order of holes in my fictional creations.
It would be good to see you put out a few of these style of designs as well as your RCR's, because I think you have good course design knowledge in real life as well as on the game, plus it would be nice to have some company haha. For your RCR's we've got you, ACES, Royce, Yeltzman and friendbomber - fantasy fictionals RJWils, Arctic Fury, Scarpacci and many other's. I like to think I'm a sort of middle man between RCR's and fictionals, and I'd like to see more designers trying the same.

I've also been beefing up my course architecture knowledge recently reading a lot about Charles Blair Macdonald. He and Raynor/Banks are definitely my style, we have such a lack of those types of courses in TGC2. I'm hoping I can help contribute to more of those types of courses in the future. Very much looking forward to Raynor Farms. Oh and I miss Chicago GC from tgc1. Whoever built that needs to port it over to tgc2!
