About 2 hours in and I think it may be both my best and worst gaming experience ever. Best because it is just so cool to actually be there in the house and it really makes it more of an experience than just a game. Worst because I'm too scared to go through doors or around corners.
Anybody got or played Skyrim yet?

I had no intention of getting Skyrim while it was $80 because while it's been 4 or 5 years since I've played it and I never got the DLC, it's still a 6 year old game. However, our local video game store was running a promotion today only where they were giving $25 trade credit for PS3 controllers. After a couple minutes of scrounging I found 5 of them sitting around here. After keeping one in case I need it I took the other four in and got Skyrim VR and a $25 PSN card for $4.99 out of pocket. Almost opted for the Farpoint/Aim bundle instead but I'm ready for a 100ish hour VR game.

Hour and a half in. No motion sickness at all. If you've played Skyrim before it's the exact same thing, just with fuzzier graphics and more standing there just looking around. Playing with a DS4 since I still only have one Move controller.

Wipeout Omega Collection is getting a free VR update early in the new year. Seems like the perfect game to have in VR although I get dizzy just thinking about it.

Anybody got or played Skyrim yet? It's a superb game in VR. It can be a little too frightening at times though! You look at a door and think - Do I really want to go through there? Definitely my Favourite VR game so far. I'll probably get Skyrim at some point. It's a game that I've put some time into in the past, but for some reason never finished? Much more likely to commit to it in VR. I've just picked up Doom VFR, it's very good, extremely fast paced though, so motion sickness can be a factor if you play for too long using regular FPS controls. I have only played with the DS4 as I like to play with normal locomotion rather than teleporting all the time (you can do both at the same time with the DS4). The graphics are very good for a VR game too. Gran Turismo Sport is a big let down in VR mode. It plays wonderfully, it feels spot on. But you only have the choice of one on one races against an AI opponent. Hopefully they will expand this at some point?

Not very many VR games out there where you can easily play for hours at a time, if you want to. However, the VR doesn't really do anything to take the game to a new level like RE7 does. So at this point I agree that it's hard to top RE7 as the best VR game thus far. I've never been a big Gran Turismo fan anyway but it was still disappointing to hear how limited their VR mode was, especially when Driveclub had no problem making their full featured game available. For now I'll stick with that and consider Wipeout before I ever get GTS.

So..... is PSVR worth the money? Currently on sale for $200-350 depending on the bundle you get, plus a big sale on the PSN Store this week with a buttload of VR games included? I'd say yes. I've enjoyed it and used it regularly in the 4+ months I've had it. Hard to say if you'd have the same enjoyment out of it but I'd say if you enjoy gaming and cool new tech right now is an excellent time to hop on the bandwagon at a very reasonable cost.

Still too pricey on my end for the number of games I'd actually want to play. I'll have to wait until there are more games, and also be sure this isn't a gaming fad like 3D was.

You'll probably be waiting a long time if you're waiting for a bunch of big name, full size games to be released. That being said RE7 is nearly worth the price of admission on it's own and Skyrim doesn't hurt it any. A lot of the smaller games that you've never heard of would probably win you over once you play the demo's as well.
Seems like Sony is pushing it fairly well in trying to get headsets out there and showing a lot of upcoming game support. They've passed 2 million in sales already which is impressive for a pricey peripheral. At this point I'd say it's still a cool and fun novelty item if you have the money to spend on it, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's a must own device yet.

Scratch that. I just played virtual skeeball. It's now a must own device.

So I just bought the PS VR as a christmas gift for my nieces and nephews. Thought I'd better open it up and check it first, you know make sure all the components are there, plus it'll be easier to set it up for them. Ha, who am I kidding, I just couldn't resist having a go myself God damn it's amazing, never experienced anything like it (other than from certain very intense psychedelics)! It's not even just visual like I thought it would be, your body physically responds as if you're actually there, especially the vertigo and feeling like something's going to hit you. I got frightened just playing the cute playroom stuff so I can't imagine what something like Resident Evil is like in VR! I wouldn't last 2 minutes before having a heart attack. Got another 10 days before I have to wrap it up and gift it, gonna try and make the most of it

I do like scary movies, but not really the slasher types, so I can't see myself ever playing Resident Evil. Heart attack would definitely happen and my family would find me dead on the floor with a PSVR on my head. Not the way I want to go out!!

lmao can you imagine the shame on your family if you die with soiled pants over a VR game I really enjoy horror films as well but it's just not the same as feeling like you're actually in that dimension... Tried a bunch more games now and I've realised that as long as there's some kind of virtual ground below me, I'm absolutely loving it. Otherwise the vertigo is just too intense, and no matter how much the rational part of your brain tells you it's a sim and you can still feel the real ground beneath your feet, you still get the same adrenaline rush like you're going to fall. Tried a rollercoaster 360 video and noped out of there before I even reached the top of the dip. Don't want to experience the raw fear this poor guy had (skip to 1.20):
