Made 1 of 2 decisions. 1. Will I buy the game? A: Yes 2. PC or PS4. A: No clue. On one hand I have as it seems quite few tgc friends on the ps4 who plays it and that's nice. On the other hand I just bought my PC and it outperforms the ps4 by miles. Also I normally don't play multi-player so that would also be in the PC favour. Then again I might enjoy multi-player so it would be dumb not to get it on the platform that seems most accessible.... Decisions decisions... If your pc graphics card will support it, and you don't mind shelling out for a 4k capable monitor, Canuck is practically orgasmic about how great the game looks in 4k. Might make your decision easier... but I totally get you wanting to play vs friends on PS4. Tough choice...

I've been out and bought this at lunch time after reading all the glowing reviews both here and around the tinterweb, cant wait to play it tonight. Gonna have to delete some stuff, out of room on the PS. Now, what to delete hmmmm..... "tinterweb"? Is that like some kinda Freudian thing revealing your heavy use of Tinder? Probably not, otherwise you wouldn't have time for F1, right?

I already got the game, and I've been fooling with it for the last days.
Totally agree with Dean, the game plays pretty decent with controller. The wheel for sure would enhance the experience, but I feel the game very smooth with the controller (and with traction control on, btw)

Just seen this thread. I have had it since launch on PS4 and use the controller. I think it's by far the best F1 game Codies have done so far. The feedback through the controller is great and whilst I would like a wheel I can't justify the expense. I had the old game on Xbox 360 and had a wheel for that, but have to say it's still a brilliant game with the controller.
There are some complaints on the forum about multi player, but I stick to single player career so can't comment on that. Definitely recommend a purchase.

I love it but I have had to put traction control on for starters (I hope) controllers pk but massive difference with a wheel maybe we could get some online races going one day? traction on of course

Is F1 a one player game or can 2 people play on the same PS4?

Is F1 a one player game or can 2 people play on the same PS4? It's a single player game in the sense that only one person can be driving -- you can't race head to head locally. However, there's online racing, so you can play head to head through a game lobby. You can also play Time Trial mode locally, whereby you run laps individually (not split screen), whereby you try to set faster lap times than your playing partner.

After finally completing practice I went into qualifying for the Australian GP in my Renault. Target was 17 and to beat my team mate. I got through Q1 in 17th with teammate in 18th. Then I realised I'd chosen short qualifying so that was that. I completed the formation lap, I almost crashed into Hulkenburg several times as he tried to warm his brakes up. Finally the start, the manual start procedure adds another dimension to racing. It's in your own hands now. I screwed up big style and lots 2 or 3 places of the line. I'm on medium difficulty at the moment so i was able to get those places back on the first corner, I needed a bit of luck not to hit anyone. Palmer, my teammate was ahead of me now though. I had good speed going down the 2nd large straight, I got past 2 or 3 more. By the time I finished lap 1 I was up to around 12. Way above expectations. I've forgotten some important info. I'm playing on 25% races. Before the start of the race I had to choose strategy. It shows you recommended strategies and the time difference expected. It shows this for standard tyre wear and the wear you experienced in practice. Mine was not good. A 1 stop strategy was borderline for me, 2 so much better but 30 second slower. I risked a one stopper. Back to the race, 3 laps in and I was up to 10th, this track is one of my favorites! Then I get a message from the pits. The wear is high, do I want to come in lap 4 rather than 6. I'm in trouble now! I need to reduce tyre wear drastically or add another stop. Just as I'm deciding a safety car is deployed for a crash elsewhere on the track. I decide to pitt as my tyres are already well worn. Hopefully time under the safety car will stretch the life out of my new set. 4 laps later, I'm in 12th and it's lights out again. I got up to 8th. I wasn't able to keep up with 7th place but 8th was way above expectations and my team mate. I realised tyre wear was still going to be an issue. Pitting would put me in last place(20th as 2 cars DNF) so I had no choice other than managing tyres. I took it easy. This meant I had Massa right on my tail. I made a mistake and he got past. Down to 9th. With 2 laps left I went into full speed mode, fuel set to rich and no more tyre saving. I trid to get past but I just couldn't find an opportunity. Coming round the final bend, I was right behind. DRS now enabled. It was a drag race to the line. I pipped him, just! Wow, what a feeling. That was a great race. Strategy, good competitive racing, safety cars, all great! Tyre wear is going to be a problem in normal races so I need to work on that. Sorry for the long write up but I'm really into this game right now. I'm not giving up golf so it looks like a divorce is in the cards!

Had my first go on career mode today. 45/45/30 for the practice sessions and I did ok although the tyre wear objective is pretty damn hard!
Went for full qualifying and managed to qualify my manor car in 6th so I think I need to tweak some settings lol. Currently set on amateur for assists, i.e.full traction control and brake assist (which I deffo need to turn of) and computer Ai set to medium.
Not sure if I mucked my tyres up in qualifying or something but my strategy decided a 2 stop would work best (50% race distance so 29 laps). Started me on supersofts and said to pit on lap 2 for softs them again in lap 12 for mediums!! Constantly getting the team on the radio about changing strategy even when I had opted to change on that same lap! Weird. Totally ruined the race after starting 6th only to end up last after 1st stop and fighting my way back all race.
Guess I'll have another go and start again, tweak some settings to make it more realistic and see if I did screw up or my teams just shite...lol

Riveting reading! You should turn this into a series, Dean! I am struggling mightily having decided to start Career at Expert level. Relying on a controller for steering input, I think maybe Medium was the way to go. I might have to start over with a new career. Was playing 2010 version again last night, just for comparative reasons... The 2016 version blows it out of the water in terms of re-creating a dynamic racing experience. There's much more action in terms of other cars falling off pace, failing to finish, SC phases, weather changes, etc. The AI is better, but still not perfect. It's frustrating to be blown up from behind as often as it happens, but maybe an AI patch down the road, so to speak? Keep us posted on your next race, and impending divorce! :-)

I'm glad you enjoyed it TreeWoodI'm not sure it'll be a series but I'll certainly write up some of the more interesting races between filling in divorce papers! I've only done P1 for Bahrain so far and I'm not doing quite so well so far. I've got too much golf to play over the next couple of nights. I can't wait to get back on it.

Youtube is a good start. "F1 2016 car setup" should get you a couple quick vids on it." Then there are some more in-depth reading options available that are worthwhile background reading. See earlier in this thread for my post on setting up race cars. The game has some tutorials, but they're not more for familiarization with the various parts of the game, not really a "how to", but a "what is" type of tutorial.
