Round 2 in Bahrain was disappointing. It was far too easy on medium. I won the race. Difficulty increased to hard for China. It looked like I was going out in q2 but a last gasp lap got me into q3. I then made a big mistake. I used the tyres I has on qualified for q3 to put in a quick run. I didn't realise I would start the race with them! I put a solid lap in and got to 7th place with a fresh set. When I took a look at strategy for the race I realised what I had done. I would start with well worn tyres. I would have do a two stopper on a 15 lap race. I started well and was 5th coming round the last corner. My tyres were shot though and I went for an early stop to put mediums on. It was great timing. The virtual safety car came out the same time. I still came out of the pits in 19th place. I worked my way past a few and more as drivers started to pit. I was back up to 5th fighting it out with Hamilton and Vettel and losing. I should have pitted earlier, I lost 10 seconds trying to get more laps out of the tyres. I finally put softs on with 5 laps left but I was in 19th place. Everyone elses medium tyres were old and I was way quicker. I quickly made my way through the field. I got to 11 with a lap to go and I was 4 second behind a point. I was so much quicker, closing the gap with every corner. Could i get that point? I was 1 second short in the end but the whole race had been thrilling. I need to sort out tyre wear and strategy! Onto Russia and a new circuit for me. Loving the game still.

China is particularly hard on tires. That first corner and then a few more near the end of the lap. Having said that I struggled to at Barahin and Australita too but safety car saved me!

I don't quite get the current rules on tires... Is it that you must start the race with the tires you qualified fastest with? Does that only apply if you make it to Q3? Or does that apply no matter how far you get in qualifying??? I've lasted about 4 weeks into the schedule in Career mode (Expert), but without a wheel and pedals, I'm getting hammered by my teammate. Tried a single race (Quick race) in Medium - Much more enjoyable. Qualified 5th in Montreal, powering a Renault in the golden glow of the late afternoon sun (lighting quality in this version is astounding). Can't remember what % length it was, but 23 laps. After a relatively early pit stop for fresh rubber after 5 laps on my slightly used ultra softs, I 'd dropped back to 11th. Worked my way back thru the traffic on softs, and when the front runners finally pitted, I found myself in first place on lap 14. Then the safety car comes out when Botas' engine goes up in a massive blue-grey plume of smoke on the back straight - just before the chicane. The SC finally peels off into the pits with 3 laps of racing to go. I'm leading Hamilton by less than a second with two laps to go, and we trade positions three times over the remaining distance -- the final pass coming in the hairpin on the final lap before I edge Hamilton by .700 to win it. A total rush! One eye on the circuit ahead, and the other fixed firmly on the side mirror, with Hamilton filling it. What a blast! I'm loving this...

If you make it to the Q3 you must start the race with the tires you used to make your fastest lap in Q2. That's why the top cars try to move out of Q2 using the hardest possible new tires and with as few laps, ideally making just one fast lap. If you don't make it to the Q3 you can start with the tires you prefer. That sounds like a fun race, well done!

Thx for clearing that up for me Pablo! Where you been Treewood? Youve missed alot of Costanza races! warrior009 has taken over as pit chief and things have gone off the rails I know... I've missed being there too! Fall's always a bit tough at the beginning. Lots going on with kid's soccer season starting up, school events to volunteer at, work's been busy... I've kinda missed out on what your racing schedule is now. Do you have set evenings / days? I saw you raced last Saturday morning. My son's home games are Saturdays at 11:00, so Sat morning is a write-off for me. Let me know your sched for the next couple races, and where you'll be racing at. Will try to work out some setups!

Well, if you've squirreled away enough cash to afford it, I'd say you'd be nuts not to! Seriously, it's a pretty good racing sim. Some minor issues, for sure, but overall still very enjoyable. If you could package together all the best elements from Codemasters, Crammond's GP3, and add a dash of the best from Nascar Thunder, you'd have a truly awesome game.

Never pay much attention to F1. Watch the Toronto Indy (not really F1 though) when its on because it's local to me. Been watching Canuck stream a couple times and its pushing me closer to going for it. Most likely will, once I get something in my mind I can't get rid of the thought until I just do it.

What's the secret to pit strategy? I'm losing races in the pits. Last two races, I've been in the top 10, pitted with the car in front of me but come out of the pits in last place. My pit crew seems slow.
