On the whole, of course ghosts can provide an advantage. I think anyone here would be silly to argue that that is not the case. However, the solution you proposed is, in my view, ludicrous; it would only serve to alienate the majority of this community while solving a relatively minor problem. Ghosts are also, in my opinion, far from an "unfair" advantage. Everyone is perfectly free to use them (except maybe Andre, with his Dawn Patrol), and the fact that you choose not to use them is only putting you at a disadvantage to those who do. It'd be roughly the same as refusing to use the lofting mechanism because you object to it for some reason. At least RL pros do have playing partners; yes, the system is TGCT is not the same, but there is a precedent there.
Pros of ghosts: -- You can see how your playing partners attack a certain hole, including where they play their tee shots, where their approaches land, and how their putts roll on the green. Roughly half the time (if they have the honor or are farther from the hole), this is completely legitimate (because that's how real golf works); the other half, it is not. -- You can more effectively figure out the course conditions (if you haven't practiced). -- You may be able to feed off your opponents' good play. Perhaps seeing them score well can improve your confidence and positively affect your play. On the other hand, seeing them falter may motivate you, especially if you enjoy schadenfreude. -- Seeing them get bad breaks may make you feel better about your luck. -- You can more closely follow your opponents' scores with ghosts turned on. -- Playing with ghosts may alleviate a feeling of loneliness, if that matters to you.
Cons of ghosts: -- Approximately half the time, you can obtain an unfair advantage (with respect to how the real game is played, anyway). Having all ghosts play before you in every situation is flawed, no argument here. -- Being able to figure out course conditions from their balls is far from ideal. Once again, no argument from me. -- Your opponents' good play might demoralize you and make you play worse. On the other hand, seeing them play badly may drag you down to their level. -- Seeing them get good breaks may make you feel worse about your luck.
As far as I can tell, people could take issue with seeing how the ghosts play certain holes (definitely not right when they shouldn't have played first anyway, but only an issue about half the time) and getting a preview of the course conditions (which they can do by playing practice rounds or even just one practice hole on each setup). These are issues, no doubt. Fixing them would level the playing field somewhat, but you're never going to make it "perfect," especially across three systems. What you have proposed is a gross overreaction to a small problem, at least in my view. Ghosts can be removed, for all I care. In fact, at this point, I can't wait for them to be changed for the better.

Ghosts are certainly an advantage. You can play with someone in real life and get an idea about a shot or putt, but the ghosts in this game are way different than that. Lots of ideas about how to make them a better experience, such as no ability to zoom in and watch them land, only having them be turned based, etc. Again, nothing in the rules says you can't use them, which means they are available to everyone. Some use them way more than others, some don't use them at all.
You are of the opinion it is somehow cheating. That just doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

I play too early to use Ghosts (except Andre's) but still I refuse to use them for one reason only and that is I think they will drag me down seeing them go berserk e.g holing putt after putt, flop in after flop in.
I have nothing against people using then at all and people should have the right to do what they want while the ability is there.

Yes you in fact are one of those I'm referring to Griffin. Thanks for joining so I can call you out legitimately without my post being removed. You exploit it. You've told me in a message that you do. What is your response to the community? To the fact that, you in fact wait to play with the best ghost balls on xbox week in and week out. That you use this exploit every week, that other tours have had to make agreements to keep it fair and only use one ghosts/tourney, etc. Im fully engaged in this thread now God, you really are a douchebag.

If it's not against the rules of TGC, it's not cheating. That simple. Want the rules to change, fine. But you can't call what you want to change cheating.

One could argue that even though it's not against the rules, it's not in the spirit of golf and if it's not in the spirit of golf then it could be considered a rules violation. Now... I'm not saying this is the case and that officials would interpret things as such since its in the game for everyone to use, no possibility to restrict and no way to police. I'm just saying one could argue the case. Sorry for adding the fuel. I still think tee times are ridiculous and I don't see this whole ghost thing as a problem. I do however think not using ghosts or using them turn-based is a more honorable way to go about things.

Well doubtful, I would argue they are not an advantage because often what you are seeing is not at all what actually happened. This causes you to try and repeat that outcome, then sit in wonderment why that outcome did not occur. This is a well known problem with the ghost balls as the way the data is stored then recalled is flawed.
As you full well know, it's is far better to gather all the required information you need through practice rounds and the scout camera.
Call me silly, no problem, but thems the facts.

And it's all relative to the wgr.
You all can call me every name in the book but it doesn't change my stance on this issue. Especially doesn't disprove my theory.
I had no idea so many were pro ghost. I thought it would've been the opposite. Comes as a shock and a disappointment honestly.
Travesty at best.

I don't think that many are pro-ghost. It's just accepted at this point, since it is not against the rules, that people use them. You might not like that or feel it is honorable to play with ghosts. Plenty of people have that opinion. Instead, you made accusations about a well respected member of this community and made claims that without ghosts, he wouldn't be ranked high.
So it's not a pro-ghost thing. But it's certainly becoming an anti-splittailace thing.

He'll be wringing his hands at this imagining Doyley and co panicking about the trouble he's causing. Whilst in reality Doyley has had a quick glance, muttered "that !%$# again" and got on with his day.

Accusations against that member because he used to be on my friends list until I came to find that he was using ghosts(he admitted to me).
No I do not comprehend the view that it isn't an advantage. Wouldn't have started this if otherwise. Boom boom all you do is insult buddy. No substantive posts in this entire thread from you.
Ultimately I am the minority in this discussion so I doubt anything will change. Which is unfortunate. And we'll just keep on going along with the way things are now.
Those who have to play early will remain winless and held down by this issue. Good game members good game

If ghost balls are a problem, instead of causing a hassle for everyone and stirring up stuff, why not just play on the tst where they don't allow this stuff... And all the other "exploits"?
This thread is the most frustrating thing about this tour/forum... Why people can't just enjoy the the tour for what it is for things like this that aren't going to change

Here's my 2 cents This game has no correlation to real life whatsoever thus those arguing it is are dilussional Irl i can hit an 8 iron x yards my bro can hit it y yards totally different ,this game allows us to hit it exactly the same therefore if i see player a,b or c hit a shot i know i can replicate it ,this is not the case in real life . Ghost balls subsequently r a most definite advantage wen uv not had to take the chance (ie over a hazard or risky line) off the tee or see the amount of roll out on a green including the way to come in from . So if ,imo ,iwant to wait til thursday to play my rounds there will b a dozen or more ghost balls to choose from not the 1,2 or 3 irl and if im not happy with my first choices i am able to delete add more .This, through common sense, has to b seen as an advantage .
