Hard to answer all those questions right now. I am just so glad the 1st round is over with and I did very well for my standards. I had an out of body experience on the first 10 holes, before I knew it I was 8 under and didn't really know how it happened. I missed the next fairway, hit into a bunker, and had to scramble for par. It was then I awakened and struggled through the back nine.
Just glad I did a lot of practicing this course over the last few days, it really paid off. Oh, and the 5 mph winds didn't hurt either.
Very good start for getting my Tour Card. I was worried I would be playing from behind after day one and now I have some confidence, but I know there is a long ways to go and anything can happen. But it is nice to have started well.

R1 - Yeti - 63
What was the highlight of your round/tournament? After finding a small bunker off the drive on the reachable par 5 17th and laying up to 45 yards from the pin - I flopped a PW in that played the grade perfectly, coming to rest with half the ball over the edge of the cup. Unfortunately, it didn't drop!
What did you think of the course? Course played great in the wind I had. No easy putts out there!
How are you feeling going into the second stage? I'm pretty confident after posting a bogey free round. I left a few shots out there but didn't hurt myself either. I'm happy with a 63 and will be looking to go low in stage 2.

•Bill Macatee from CBS Chris, mind if we ask you a few questions? Sure.
•What was the highlight of your round at Whispering River? Shooting my best score ever, was in the zone.....I think the planets were aligned.
•What was the low-light of your round? Having to stop playing the course after 18 holes.
•What did you think of the course? Loved it, the set up plays to my strengths.
•How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat? Wasn't trying to beat anyone, was looking to see if the birdies would keep coming.
•Are you going to now go in to get something to eat, go to the range? What's your plan? I'm going to go eat. I'm starving.

Jeff Botkin will now take questions after an opening round of 67 at Mt Yeti.
What was the highlight of your round/tournament?
I was able to birdie holes 15 and 16 with solid putts at about 25ft.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament?
A 3pt on the par 5 17th hole hurt as I put it on the green in two. Thankfully I was able to turn it around and knock in a birdie on 18 to boost me back up.
What did you think of the course?
The course was solid. Very challenging with firm greens that were difficult to hold at times. I liked the setup. A lot of risk/reward opportunities.
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat?
My goal in this Q-School is to finish overall top 50 at the end of the school. I'm in good shape so far, I believe 67 put me at a T-35 at this point after round 1.

Stage 3 Copper Creek
I just could not wait, playing this in plus 11 winds up to 18 or 19 is insane, 2 hole outs for eagle though turned a decent round into a great round of 62.
•What was the highlight of your round/tournament?
Definitely the hole outs for eagle on both 15 and 17, that helped a ton.
•What was the low-light of your round/tournament?
Hitting into the water on 1 of the par 3's 13 I think, maybe, cannot recall, but I had 11 from 10 oclock in my face and hit the 170 club, and it splashed, rechecking my numbers and standing on the tee again with the same wind, I hit the same shot, but this time it stiffed, so walked away with only a bogie.
•What did you think of the course?
OMG I think I'm going to have a heart attack. That course should be outlawed, just kidding, the designer gets a massive kudos from me, what a freaken track, no matter how many times I play, the more I play it, the more and more I love that place. Many courses, many rounds can get my frustration level up, but this place gets adrenalin levels up every single time, this being no exception.
•How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat?
I did not see anyone that was close from the overall board, I assume they are taking a break, so I'm on my own out there.

R2 - Whispering - 58
What was the highlight of your round/tournament? I was able to minimize my mistakes and scramble from the rough. I should have practiced a bit more as I chose wrong clubs on 2 or 3 tees. The putter was on fire though and saved me on a couple of long benders.
How have you fared mentally? There were multiple mental mistakes in my round today. Pulling out the wrong club on the tee cost me a few strokes as my ball rolled into the heavy rough. I had a 70 yard approach shot that I pitched by accident causing me to overshoot the hole an extra 15 feet. Luckily, I made that putt to save birdie. Will have to buckle down on Copper Creek as mental mistakes there cost you more than most courses.
What did you think of the course? I found the course to be very receptive to approach shots. Should see a lot of low scores from the top players here. If you're not getting under par here you're missing out on a good opportunity to get ahead on the leaderboard. Visually, the course was stunning and played well in the low winds I was served up.
How are you feeling going into the third stage? My goal was to fire in the 50's and I accomplished that. Looking ahead I'm now moving into the tough section with three difficult courses in a row. Feeling good about my chances but rumours swirling about some real low scores will have me on my toes for the next few rounds.

Well Johnk or should we call you Thrangar?, and how do you feel about Mt Yeti? Johnk is fine, and IMHO Mt Yeti is one of if not the best links course to date for this tour.
Any complaints? Yes I really wish TGC Tours would enforce better rake etiquette on the courses that are privileged to be host.
What was the highlight of your round today? It would be looking at a 7 mph wind off the first tee, and then looking up at 10th hole and finding myself -5 to that point
Any shots you would like to have back this round? Yes the three bogies on the back 9, just gave those shots away
How do you feel about your round today? A little disappointed, having good winds and a very good front 9, I feel I didn't close the deal.
How did you fair on the leader board, and who were you trying to beat? Having tee'd off very early, I was just playing myself, and was aiming for a -6 round, the -4 I shot left me wanting.
What is your game plan for the rest of the tour? Trying for my PGA card, if I can keep those bogies at bay and post sub par rounds for the rest of the tour, I feel the card will be mine.
Thank you for your time , and comments , any last words?
You are welcome, and yes I would like to say a big Thank You to TGC Tours for all their efforts!

stage 4 Son Gual
Wind was great here, desert usually is though.
•What was the highlight of your round/tournament?
My putting was especially good, missed a couple makeable ones made couple bombs though.
•What was the low-light of your round/tournament?
Ridiculous bounce on 3 or 4, after landing a short iron short of the green and it rolled more than 90 feet by, anyone following my ghost will be yelling and reporting, I pitched it, 90 feet is just beyond my ability, sorry. I have practiced up to 60 feet, 90, I have no clue. I stood there considering the shot and went back over the rules, so I went with the up and down pitch knowing I was not violating any rules.
•What did you think of the course?
I went low, but it was hard, needed to make some real bombs for putts. I'm not a big fan of this course.
•How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat?
Definitely Taste, he was going low on this tuff track, so he lit a fire under my butt for sure. I did not load his ghost up, I was just watching the leaderboard after the score, I did not catch him till 18.
•After stage 4, how is your game plan holding up?
Going low on Son Gaul was not expected, was playing conservative, but the putts were dropping from everywhere, so much better than expected.

Not sure why you want to interview a 65 year old that sitting around 100th place after an opening round of 75 but here goes.
What was the highlight of your round/tournament? Just competing with the youngsters.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament? Four putting two greens cost me a subpar round. DOWNHILL PUTTS will do me in.
What did you think of the course? Great course but don't get in the wrong place on the greens.
What are you expectations? Realistic! No chance for a top card, but if I play well enough, could get a Web.com card. Will be fine on the champions tour if thats how it ends up and will have a ball!
Here's hoping for mild winds the rest of the way.

*Sits Down at Microphone disgustedly, No Question has been Asked*
"Rounds 2 and 3 were downright disgusting. Whispering River? I expected at least -6 and I was flying high when I made the turn at -4 with two lip out birdies and an inexcusable 3 jack bogey. Turns out the putter was frozen solid on the back. I had 2 FOUR putts on the back and before I knew it I was +1 and irate. Was able to steady off than capitalize on the closing par 5's to limp away with an under par round, but leaving not only my pride but my PGA Tour hopes out there as well. As for Copper Creek, some really dumb play from me had me +3 in a flash. A hole out birdie from the trap on 9 kickstarted the round but the highlight shot was from the fairway on 18 that had to be carried out over the water on the right due to the strong winds. Was able to get in at even which normally would make me happy but I should have been -3 as I tripled one of the Par 3's on the back with lag in my backswing causing a 90% shot and ending up back at the tee box for my 3rd and ultimately poor play led to a triple. This is not how I intended Q-School to go and am disappointed in myself and extremely upset at my play.
*Abruptly Leaves Press Tent Leaving all 2 journalists that cared about an average player completely bewildered*

Mr. Wildman. Brian Ellingwood from GQ Magazine. Who are you wearing today?
Oh, thanks for asking Brian. My hat, shirt, pants, shoes, and glove are all designed by TGC…just like everyone else out here. Next question.
What was the highlight of your first round at Mt. Yeti?
Hard to pick one. I holed out for eagle from the rough at 150 yds during my practice round. Would’ve been hard to top that.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament?
The only bogey of the round was a missed 4-footer. It was not a proud moment, as I yelled at my putter (controller) and kicked by caddy (kitty).
What did you think of the course?
The course played fair today. I’m used to having winds over 12mph and I was between 6 and 11 for most of the round. I always enjoy coming back to Mt. Yeti. Try the chowder. It’s delicious.
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat?
When I first finished I sat in a tie for second but since then I’ve moved to 10th. I’m really chasing Scott Doyley in Q-School, as I am trying to wrestle the Tim Horton’s and Crown Royal sponsorships from him. So, you can tell him that Wildman is gunning for him.

Uproar here in the TGCTours press tent, as rank outsider - SMorris from the UK, ran past reporters and photographers swirling a pair ladies black shorts above his head, shouting "In your face Whispering River" .... It's believed his personal best of 1 over for the course & a bet with a fellow golfer sparked the unprecedented scenes.....
Unconfirmed reports suggest the shorts belonged to female American competitor; Sassy Lady...... More on this as we get it.
