Well my main problem was how you're penalized by hitting the middle of the green. On almost every hole with a tucked flag, if you hit the middle of the green, you have a putt with a foot of downhill slope in it and you can barely get the putt within 5 feet.

I need all the Euro money i can muster so no crossing over for me sadly Same for me, otherwise I would have crossed over pretty sure. Hopefully I'll find the time next week to play this tourney just for fun and to see how I would have competed.

Hopefully I'll find the time next week to play this tourney just for fun and to see how I would have competed. Could have needed some euro money too - but Haboir Pointe is too good to pass on and I just can't bear the birdie-fests anymore. Deep double digits under par for the cut just loses any resemblance to the real game and imo is not worthy for highest level tour play. Par should be the normal score - not birdie. The sad part is that many of the push over courses are actually really good designs that could have been great tour tests with a set of tournament tees and pins. Desingers are far too nice with pin placements in general.

I like this course hardest I've played if u take away some of the ridiculous courses that are out there. Only one criticism wheres that much needed respite of a par 5 on the back 9 ?

Course record is 64 (-6) on PS4 as well. Already played the W27 four rounds and it was a battle. Failed to get to double digits under par. My original goal was to shoot -3 to -5 each day. Have to birdie the 4th hole. No questions asked.
I predict the winning score will be -18 to -22. Someone will average 65 all four days.
Certainly not me.

Love it generally - feels like an actual golf course. Wut.

Love it generally - feels like an actual golf course. Wut. I'll re-phrase. It actually feels a bit more like you feel when you play golf for real. Standing on the tee knowing any score from birdie-double bogey is possible and par is a decent score. In that sense it's far more realistic than knowing if you're not -6 through 9 you'll probably miss the cut and being absolutely gutted with a 59, which is how it is most weeks around here

As a CC-E player I'm proud of my 83 on this course which included 7 pars and 1 birdie in 13-17mph winds

So who's the joker that decided Harbour Pointe for the John Deere Classic? Did they not know that the JDC is synonymous with the term "Birdie Fest"?!? In the words of the old Knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade:

Yeah, in terms of scoring it's more realistic.

Lol. I actually agree with the commish despite being a huge proponent of harder courses. The John Deere is a massive birdie fest, and I think the TGCT courses should mirror the PGA events as much as possible.
There are a bunch of tougher tracks on tour where this course would be a more appropriate surrogate. Off the top of my head you've got Quail Hollow, Riviera, Firestone, TPC San Antonio, or it could even be used for the PGA or Tour Championship.
I realize I complain a lot here, but overall the TGCT does a great job and it is the reason I play as often as I do and will likely continue to play far longer than I otherwise would have. Any criticisms I have are just suggestions for making it even better.

My biggest complaint about "tricked up" courses is pins on humps or on the edge of a giant slope. I hate it. This course isn't bad, just a couple of holes I think are borderline. I signed up this week, looking forward to the challenge.

As the one who was largely responsible for choosing Harbour Pointe for this week, feel free to vent your frustrations with me ...however, I stand by my choice. I love Harbour Pointe and enjoy the challenge. In my opinion, this course does a great job in walking the fine line between tough and unfair. Other than some tucked pins, I don't see alot of "tricked up" going on here. With the winds you guys are experiencing, it is playing very tough. I agree, it doesn't fit with the John Deere Classic vibe, but it wasn't something I had considered when choosing this course, but it is something I will look at more closely in the future. Picking courses is very difficult..we get complaints when it's a birdie fest, and we get complaints when it is difficult. I also know first hand how difficult it is to create a course that plays difficult without being "firm/fast". I'm not sure of any courses that could produce realistic winning scores of -30 with medium firmness (however the wind fix could change that)... if I find one, it will find it's way onto the tour very soon. So, grind through the week as best you can, aim for the center of the green and hope your putter is working! Be happy when you make par, instead of feeling like you threw away a stroke!
