It's a very nice looking course except for the bunker sculpting Really? I thought that the bunker sculpting here was really well done, so natural looking. Regarding the course. I think it's an outstanding design. Yes it's very difficult and hole 14 is borderline unfair, but you can still shoot under par if you play smart. Just don't expect to shoot 62 around here. You have got to accept that you'll be getting some 40-50 foot putts for birdie on some holes if you don't work the ball perfectly into position. It's nice to have courses on tour where the winning score won't be in the -50's. I think that this week the winning score could be less than -20?

Bradley is 100% correct when it comes to getting 40-50ft putts. You just have to put up with them and try and make one or two.
I played the first round of the PGA for fun (on euro tour this week) and i played really well but still finished over par.

I played the first round of the PGA for fun (on euro tour this week) and i played really well but still finished over par. I played a round last night on PS4 with Ian Sweeney. I said more or less the same thing to him. I said "It's a course where you can play really well and still shoot level par". Just a little break here and there and you can shoot 5 or 6 under, maybe even lower? or it could go the other way. I was -4 through 9 after being +1 through 3, then I parred the next 8 and doubled the eighteenth for a round of -2. The cut could be the highest so far here.

So Brad - your basically saying that it plays like - don't know if I dare say - a golf course?
What a novel idea....

4 to 6 under is very possible but in my opinion you won't see any better than 6 under. There is just too many things to go wrong for the round to be error free.
Now watch and see someone prove me wrong haha

This is the PGA folks. We shouldn't be out here shooting -50 every week. Making long puts will be the key to low scores this week. Only 1 Par 5 and a Par 4 reachable in 1 with the right wind.
I think the course is awesome. Personally wished we played 1 like this every few weeks.

I would be shocked if someone shoots -30 this week

I love challenging courses, but I am not a masochist. This course is just too much in every Aspekt. Ok, I seem to be a Masochist as I registered for this tournament .
Player two rounds yesterday with a certain strategy. Played -5 without a bogey in round 1 and +1 in round 2 with 4 bogeys. I would take a -4 for my first two rounds anytime. Alas, I played at my friends place as a guest, so the -5 round is not in the record books .

Many players will have to break from their typical style this week to score well. Just because you have a long par 4 doesn't necessarily mean driver is the play. It's best to put yourself in the right approach position. With firmer fairways and greens distance should not be an issue. For example on hole #1 if you've got a left to right wind, unless you can hit a strong draw with the driver, the play may be a 3W to stay out of the right rough. Then approach to the center of the green with a cut towards the pin to avoid the bunker. You'll still have a longish putt up the hill for birdie, but it's makeable. Certainly leaves you in good shape for par. If you go straight at the pin and end up short and in the bunker then you're scrambling. There are other holes similar to this as well. And a longer putt up the hill can be a lot better than a shorter one down. Sometimes you have to change your target from the pin and use the slope to get into position. One thing I really wanted to accomplish with this course was that feeling of exhilaration from getting a birdie or even a par. To me that's what the U.S. Open is to players. A grind of not only golf, but emotions. Obviously, this is not the U.S. Open, but that's what Harbour Pointe's purpose was.

Played 1 practice round just now...triple bogeyed the first hole, but then came back and finished -1. You just have to take what the course gives you...there's no such thing as an easy birdie here. Looking forward to my tournament rounds.

Well now I'm sad that I skipped the pond to play in my first Euro tourney. I love challenging courses, and I haven't played this one yet. I liked my position in the FedEx rankings and I liked the Euro purse this week, so I thought now was a good time to crossover. I'm missing out on a fun one sounds like.

I restarted a practice round about 20 times just to figure out the first hole. I birdied it ONCE in 20 attempts!
This is going to be the toughest test yet.

In my opinion if you enjoy shooting -50 every week there is usually a cross over event to play. I personally don't care for the uber easy courses as you have to shoot a ridiculous score to win. One sub par round your toast. Also if you feel you have to shoot -50 every week you can go play EA's Rory in 10 days.
This week you shoot E in a round or a couple over par I feel with 3 really strong rounds you may be able to contend. That's the big difference.

Just played this. Love it generally - feels like an actual golf course. ie middle of the green and 2 putts is just fine on most holes. But a lot of the pins are accesible and birdies are possible.
14 & 15 are the only holes that are too much IMO.
I need all the Euro money i can muster so no crossing over for me sadly
