Well played to every single participant in what has turned out yet again to be a fantastic Cyder Cup, and huge thanks to the press pool for their entertaining coverage of the matches!!!
Messengers, I salute you. It was an honour to be part of the team.
Roll on Cyder Cup IX!!!
3 matches for 3 wins. It was a privilege to have you on the team Bear 🐻.

CCVIII is done. Here are the final scores: Congrats to the Mercury Messengers on finally winning back the Cyder Cup. Most Outstanding Player could be Kevin Everard, Chris Grzesik or Captain Ross Nixon as all played nicely and garnered full points for the winners. But the MOP is none other than everyone's favorite grump, the lighthouse train man himself, Les Sangster. Commiserations for the Aspall Assassins, you lot put up a fine fight. Get training to try and take the Cup back next time. Now time for some RUMble! Onward! Totally agree with the MOP award 👏. My mate from Crocodile Dundee 😉 was an inspiration from start to finish.

Fantastic to get my first Cyder Cup win as Captain. That makes it 1 a piece under the new names. Firstly congratulations to Sean's Assassins on a fantastic battle. It's amazing how every time it comes down to the last couple of matches. You were awesome opponents and look forward to the next battle. Next, thanks to Mark IGolfBad and his "crack" reporting team 👏. Honestly you guys had me in stitches with your hilarious write ups. The new guys were awesome. I would also like to thank Ben SkyBlueBen and the Golden One Art Vandelay for the running of this edition of the Cyder Cup. Without you guys we wouldn't have a Cyder Cup. Lastly, and definitely not leastly, I would like to thank my team. The thread was awesome and the standard of play you provided was fantastic 👏. Special thanks to my Vice Captain Nigel Wutpa for helping me out throughout the tournament. Our time difference worked well I thought. I love the Cyder Cup. It's been a privilege to be your Captain and I can't wait to lead you into battle with Freddie by my side next time. Onwards Messengers 🍻

Cyder Cup VIII - The Final Interview
[Press Pool Offices]
Mark Lawrence sits in his big executive chair in the Press Pool offices.
[ML] Ken, get in my office now.
I enter with some trepidation and sit on the little chair opposite him.
[ML] Thanks for your efforts, Ken.
[KW] All good, boss. Another Cyder Cup done and dusted. Thank god they are only every six months or so. It will give me time to dream up some more nonsense ideas for the next one.
[ML] I can’t wait. But, I have one more request.
[KW] Fire away.
[ML] I’d like you to do the Final Interview with the two team captains
[KW] It will be my pleasure.
[The Interview Room]
Ken: I have the two Team Captains, Ross and Sean with me. Congratulations on the victory, Ross. The Red team’s first win since Cyder Cup II.
Ross: Thanks Ken. I know you like looking back at the past when you were a Blue team captain but, more importantly, it’s one-a-piece in the new Messengers vs Assassins era.
Ken: Sean, it looked so promising after Day One when the Assassins were 6-3 up.
Sean: It did, but credit to Team Red. They stormed back on Day Two winning the day 6.5 to 2.5 to lead 9.5 to 8.5.
Ken: Ross, your boys and girl edged the Singles 5 to 4 on both Day 3 and Day 4 to take the match 19.5 to 16.5.
Ross: They did great, but there were so many close matches it could easily have gone the other way.
Ken: I don’t think we have ever had more close matches in a Cyder Cup. Thirteen matches were decided on the 18th hole and another nine matches were decided on the 17th hole. That’s over 60% of all matches going to the last two holes.
Sean: I didn’t realise just how close it was. Great for the viewers. Anyway, congratulations to Ross and his fellow Messengers. Hopefully we get you back in Cyder Cup IX.
Ross: Thanks Sean. I really want to thank you and your Assassins for putting up such a strong fight. I also want to thank all the people organising this. Without you, this would not be possible.
Ken: Hear, hear. Until next time. Goodbye.
[Roll End Credits]
Many thanks to:
Set Designer - Thomas Petrocelli
Location Managers - TGC Tours
Head Writer - Mark Lawrence
Director - Art Vandelay
Producer - Ben Tough
[Cut to End Easter Egg]:
Voiceover Guy: NEXT TIME ON THE CYDER CUP ...
[In a darkened, nondescript room]
KenW is chained to a desk with a typewriter in front of him.
A screen in the corner of the room shows the Mercury Messengers celebrating their win.
A second KenW enters the room.
[??] My cunning plan worked, Ken.
The second KenW peels off his face mask to reveal … Ashton Fox
[AF] I finally made sure that the Red team won another Cyder Cup. All thanks to my sabotage. It was so easy pretending to be you and making sure you lost every one of your matches on the 17th or 18th holes. Those three points made all the difference.
[KW] You didn’t have to murder John McCarthy though.
[AF] Collateral damage, Ken. Now keep typing or else. I need those reports to give to Mark.
[Fade to Black]
CYDER CUP WILL RETURN

Great fun as always. Kudos to Ross asyoudo64, Sean prowse00, Nigel Wutpa and Paul Harveydog500 for leading their respective teams and very special thanks to the Press Gang led by Mark L IGolfBad who make this unique among pixel golf tournaments and make it proper special. And finally massive thanks to Art Art Vandelay. I know what a hell of a job it is to score this and keep everything on track. It was seamless which is a measure of his skill and commitment. Glad we did it for Freddie!!

Want to thank all the members of the Brew Crew for another exciting Cyder Cup! You all make it fun to report on and being gracious enough to let the Press Pool make a little fun at your expense for the entertainment of all just goes to show what great sports you all are. Biggest kudos to the reporters: Carol, Ken W, Mark B, Ben, and especially rookie Marcus. All of you always bring your A-game and I’m always proud of your efforts. Marcus, you have a gift that you should always share, my friend, so keep being funny! Cheers to my writers and thanks again to all the members for another great week!
