Dear TST enthusiasts,
Second and final week of testing before season 10. This week we play Helsinki, to see how we handle Legend on tighter fairways. Feedback still very welcome to help us decide on Master or Legend for seasons 10 of TST.
Have fun!
Frans

Will play anyway to compare to last week.
First round was -13 and there's someone else on the Xbox leaderboard that went a bit crazy I see on round one 👀 my god!
What a course Helsinki is. Love it. God knows how many times I've watched that plane circle a green over the years.

I was thinking I was swinging really well for a few holes then realised 😂 It's easy done mate lol You’re not THAT good… Played round 1 myself and shot -9 with speed golf. For me, it’s now clear I prefer Legend. Beautiful courses like Helsinki require me to set it up with silly conditions to keep scores down. On Legend it gives me much more options because the trees will take care of bad swings. I realise some people would hate a switch to Legend and numbers might take a hit but we are very seriously considering going for it anyway. We feel TGCTOURS needs a tour where scoring -5 represents a good instead of a bad round. And yes, par is a relative thing and it’s a game and all… but still. Anyway, we’ll make a decision later this week and we know we won’t please everyone whatever we decide; just hope that if we go for Legend people will give it a proper chance. Personally, I feel it plays so much more like a simulation of golf instead of a console shooter game than Master, especially driving, pitching and chipping. On Master a chip within 15 meters is basically a must make, whereas on Legend it turns into a try to get it close. I’ll stop rambling now… 😂😂😂

On Master a chip within 15 meters is basically a must make, whereas on Legend it turns into a try to get it close. I’ll stop rambling now… 😂😂😂 Can't argue with any of that. Especially the first sentence haha Yeah for me Master on 23 kind of feels like Pro-Am tempo on 21 with pro swingplane. Whereas legend feels like master tempo on 21 with legend swingplane. It's a really nice balance imo. I struggle with focus on master. I have no attention span whatsoever so in a weird way the forgiving off tempo shots still leaving birdie looks makes me freewheel far too much. I don't have it in me to force myself to dial in. Whereas on legend I don't have a choice because I know I'm missing a green or short siding myself. For anyone a little apprehensive about sticking around for legend IF they go that way I'd say PLEASE give it a few weeks and you'll adjust pretty quickly. With a tiny adjustment to course management it's really playable. I'm far from the best on this version but happy to give some tips on those settings if anyone wants to fire a message across.

I am not arguing that some people that play on TST are more suited to master and will find the switch frustrating but I think more people here will enjoy it much more because of the added challenge. I know participation is always brought up but TST could bring in a few looking for more of a challenge. This is the SIM tour of TGCTours so it should have a good challenge tee to green and you should certainly not be able to just casually thow out double figure rounds under par. It gets more difficult if you play a long tight course like Bedminster. I set it up for the Legend Tour last week and we have a few of the top dogs playing there and the winning total over 2 rounds was -6. I didn't use difficult conditions either, moderate speed greens resulted in very realistic scoring. That course's length and tight fairways was it's protection. Like you said Frans TST shouldn't be tricking up greens especially pin positions because master swing is quite easy tee to green. It's just a shame you don't have Skoader and his superb flights anymore as this would be perfect for legend on TST. Last week I actually played well tee to green on TST. I was just hitting putts way too hard all of the time. I played the course in practice without marker and had no problems with lag putting at all. Does anyone know if and how much effect marker has on putting distance. I didn't move it back or forth so assumed the intent would be the same a no marker. but still my putts felt way too pacy. I will skip this week as I don't play master anymore but will be back if there is a switch to legend. 🤞

I personally only play TST to support the society and real life issues have taken that time away from me recently. I'm a casual player, I speed golf, I can't fathom the putting (some of it down to eyesight issues), I never shoot double digit under par but at the end of the day I'm not the kind of player TST wants or needs. I fully understand the wish to change to legend to make it tougher. Some players on here are just too good. So good in fact I doubt they even need the marker Sure I'd find it too frustrating to even dip my toe in next season but I back away with good grace and hope TST continues to thrive. The work you all put in to make it happen is phenomenal. Onward as Golden Balls would say.

Well I was going to give Legend a real try this week because I didn't really have much of a chance last week, but of course as my rotten luck would have it, probably won't get the proper chance until the new season... I suppose. Doesn't seem like a lock yet but wording choices that have been made has certainly made it seem like it...
I'll give the first week of the new season a shot before going forward with any decision of continuing should it move to Legend, but I'm personally not thinking participation on the long term or every week basis like I normally would on this tour at this time. Not for the reasons of the difficulty change (even though I personally don't like the idea of jumping around in difficulty, I much prefer keeping things to just one) but lots of personal stuff lately. Haven't had nearly as much time and energy lately and putting myself through the ringer of Legend every week with limited supply of those two doesn't sound too appealing right now. But hey, who knows currently. Even I don't.
For what it's worth, it was perfectly fine to me before as a true mid-tier person hanging around top 25 zone most weeks last season and not shooting anything super great. I see points for and against the change but no matter where things go, I hope things will take off for this side of the tours. It might not involve me but I won't say no yet until I get to actually give it a shot first.

And your good shots will still be good shots. It's just those slight misses each side instead of being a fifteen / twenty foot birdie putt will sometimes now be a thirty five / forty foot putt or chip / splash. Honestly a few rounds and it becomes second nature. And I'm sure Frans will adjust course choice and setup in line with the change in swing difficulty. If you want to try it out before it possibly is used in here, Tough As Nails (TAN) and True Sim: The Legend Tour both use those settings. Two nice courses in them currently too.

fransslabak if you need a ranger or anything to run an eye over some courses this season I'd happily spare some time btw. I saw that general post but would probably be more suited to trying out the TST ones. Only if you need a hand with it obviously. Buzzing for the new season now. I hope if it stays legend some people are pleasantly surprised how well they do and how much they enjoy it. And if it goes back to Master I'll stick around and really try to focus on going low and getting tight into pins. Does anyone know if you can revoke your main tour card? I am just going to play TST and some societies because I'm really gripped by Starfield, and Forza is out soon. Would give someone a chance of a promo if I could back out of the mainline tour. I used to click the beer league option to do it but obviously that's not possible now. Thanks!

As far as I know holding a Tour card but not using it has zero effect on anyone else’s chances of qualifying or earning promotion marks. All calculations are based on the weekly active players. You can hold a card indefinitely once you’ve earned it until a new game comes out and everyone has to requalify.

That's ideal then I can dip in now and again and not clog up a spot. Appreciate it 👍
