Was there any type of news before the release of 2K23? By this time 2 years ok 2k23 was listed in the take two pipeline and had been for 3 months. Unless business practice has changed there will be no 2k25 this year. Thanks, I knew that but the fact of the matter is with ZERO news of any sort of new game coming soon, we all just speculate and hope.

Hopefully 2K26 will be using a new engine. My guess they are rebuilding the game from the ground up using Eco-Motion from 2K and dumping Unity. Can you imagine the course designer using the new graphics engine? Should be amazing when it goes live. If this were to happen, I could see the designer being a whole different subject matter and 2K charges for the usage of/we can buy it for XX dollars? It would make them some money.

Thanks, I knew that but the fact of the matter is with ZERO news of any sort of new game coming soon, we all just speculate and hope. The announcement trailer for PGA 2K23 dropped on August 22, 2022. So while it was mentioned in reports, it wasn't "officially" released, with a release date and some feature details and everything, until 8/22 of that year. If next week comes and goes without any mention of a new game, then I will start to assume that the next game is likely coming out in Spring 2025 at the earliest. I could totally still see a game coming this October, since my assumption is that it will still be on the current engine, releasing for last-gen consoles along with current-gen ones, and is likely going to have some minimal improvements...with cross-platform societies being the biggest add to 2K25. I'm really hoping for a new engine, but seeing other 2K sports games like TopSpin still using current engines and releasing across all platform generations available, I'm not sure that's gonna happen. And knowing that a lot of folks still play on PS4 and Xbox One, and seeing that PS5 sales are actually down year over year and off the pace that PS4 was at this time in its lifecycle, I'd assume last gen sales are still gonna to be important for game companies in the foreseeable future.

No way they are dumb enough to charge people who create content for their game. I can see them shutting down servers for the older games to force a sale of the new game. Don't see them doing that either yet.

There are so few designers that charging us to publish would make no sense. Trouble is, this is a tough game to monetise. They tried to monetise with the balls, but they have been a disaster for the game, ruining the green/putting physics and I can't imagine they are still selling. Having DLC courses isn't going to make much money when this community is publishing courses to such a high standard for nothing. Maybe they will look at some sort of subscription model for the online features (including community courses?).
I'd be very pleasantly surprised if there is an announcement next week. Would love some new assets, and more than anything, better bunker sculpting options!

I agree with everything you say. golf ball monopoly has to go away, i have enough to fill my apartment , If they get rid of course creator the game will be dead in water. Swing mechanic needs tweaked , tempo needs fixing also. Last thing is the wind please fix it also.

I'm thinking in a whole different direction. When they released 2K23, they did so in October on the heels of the ending PGA season and the beginning of the new PGA season. With the changes made to the PGA format, where the current official season starts in January, I'm thinking 2K may want to try for a launch in January along with the official season start. Definitely see the logic there, but I do wonder if releasing in January is the best move. It means they miss having the game out for the holiday season, and are now counting on consumers to spend more discretionary income on a golf game in the dead middle of winter, after just racking up bills buying gifts and such They might if Christmas brought consumers Steam giftcards and the like.

Paying for a designer is the way corporate heads look at this game. We players say, nay to pay for but in the end, these companies have to make money, and I don't see golf as the company headliner.

So let me get this straight. You(2k) want me to buy a game with say 30-50 courses. In order for me to play courses designed by the community which you by the way do not pay for I have to pay you a fee. If I want to design courses for the game from which I get no monetary reward I have to pay you. Nah I don't think that's a winning business model. Golf is a niche game they'll never make much on it and I am sure with the $hitshow that was EA's offering 2k is in no hurry to change things up much. But with no course designer this game is DOA.

Paying for assets for the designer might be the way to go. Since release we have had quite a few added free assets imagine having 10 times that amount. The thing is if people pay for these things the more the Devs will produce. Yes it will hit the designers in the pocket but it will also improve the designer to have unique trees andbuildings etc. I don't design but would be more than happy to help fund great designers to have more creative freedom. The better the designer the better the game and more assets makes the courses better. Consumables balls is fine as long as I can turn them off, but would like the opportunity to turn virtually every aid and any acade nonsense like the studid skills. They shouldn't force arcade rubbish on those who want a Sim golf game. But arcade sells to the masses so having a mix of both is what we need.

I truly hope that you are right, I would love a new game. Facts remains though, not a word from the publisher or the devs in ages so I wouldn't count on it, but there's always hope.

Facts remains though, not a word from the publisher or the devs in ages so I wouldn't count on it, but there's always hope. Since 2K has taken over it has been always been very quiet until a couple of months before release. October or April release but most certainly a new game is coming. You don't sign a contract with the most famous pro golfer of current times, hire new people from EA's golf franchise to totally drop your own golf franchise.I think the plan is 2 year release cycles but it could be delayed to spring next year for many reasons. Not a bad thing to release the game next year I feel. My worry for every HB golf game is will they sell out and concentrate on a more arcade game for the masses and sell out a bit. Will they break the great parts of the current gameplay, will they drop the CD. I always worry about a new game so if it's released next year I can stop worrying till then.
