The game will be out in October or failing that an April release. EA's game is a live service game so won't have a new release so no worries about a release clash in April. Also it will be current and previous gen. Also if you lock out previous gen you also lock out part of the PC market with lower spec hardware.

I don't doubt there is a new game coming, but it must be a way off. The community survey they did recently suggests they are yet to make the big decisions on the structure of the game, and until those are made we won't hear anything. Those decisions may include next-gen exclusive or not (the longer they wait, the more likely this is, bear in mind that next gen becomes last gen in 2027 probably...), how they are going to monetise, microtransactions etc (please get rid of the stupid balls) and (deep breath) whether to keep the designer or not. I know that the designer is central to the USP for this franchise, but the poaching of EA's team is worrying, as the way they build courses is just not compatible with an in-game designer. I think it is certain we won't see a game this year, and Spring 2025 is now very optimistic. I predict announcement in Spring, release October 2025. Game will be called 2k26. Tiger will be dropped as will have retired! I am totally fine with what we have now. If they happen to take an extra year or more it's not a big deal to me. Just get it right upon release. Just because a developer takes longer doesn't mean a game will be perfect. Look at last year Forza and more recently the EA's College football. Just read their recent update notes. Wow that game had at least 5 years of development. Lets hope 2K HB gets it right.

A couple of more months to perfect drop zones is good with me.

There are people in our community that know if the game is coming out this year or not...they just can't say anything due to NDA. I'm guessing there would be a game since they signed Tiger Woods to an extended contract with 2K...wouldn't make much sense to me to pay him and not make a game to try and earn some money based off his name??

I Thought only one went to HB/2k that was Justin Patel, checked his Linkedin Account and a month ago posted HB are looking for another Producer to join there Team. Can't remember his name the other Guy from EA went to Facebook for there GolfVR game. There was another EA dev they hired, but Patel was the big coup. The dev that moved to Golf+ from EA is Craig Penner, I believe, who was basically the face of EA golf during it's release and life cycle. He did all the videos with content creators and was on most interviews about the game.

Let's hope the guys from EA keep their hands off the game itself and only have input into things like career or cross platform stuff. Since 2k developed Top Spin for last and current gen I would be surprised if they don't do the same for the golf game. The amount of time they take to get the game out has nothing to do with whether they put this out for only current or for last gen too. The game doesn't sell that much and the installed base on last gen is just too large to give up. No designer no sale for me. The things they need to include this time have been mentioned already. More assets and the ability to bring courses over without deleting planting and such like they did with 23.
I can do without the pros doubt they do that but please enough with the Barstool guys and other non pros.
About time we got a chance to choose other swing styles too.

I just hope it's Called Tiger Woods 2k25,And unless they have serious worked on career mode Dump the PGA Tour Brand.
Love to play something based on Tiger's career and challenge him that way,it seemed to me Tiger was so underused in 2k23.

Tiger will be dropped as will have retired! I agree with pretty much all of this. I think the EA staff joining is a clear indication that they want to (finally) change the structure of the game from ranked / societies and have more options dailies / weeklies etc. and tbh I think that’s one thing the EA golf game did very well and would add to this series. I’d be surprised if they look at EA’s short tail and think ‘we want some of that’ though and are bound to have an idea of what makes 2k stay popular for so long in comparison. Designer and responsive swing obviously. Imo it definitely won’t be next gen only though. Whether that’s NEXT gen or current/ next gen (lol) something like 40% of players haven’t moved on from PS4/ Xbox One as of a few months ago. And the vast majority of those players (I imagine) are more geared towards, for want of a better word, casual sports games like these that are pick up and play. I’d be very very surprised if 2K effectively block tens of millions of players from being able to give them money. I guess on the plus side they seem to actually be taking time to change up the structure of the game. So here’s hoping. (Watch out for an announcement on two weeks that it launches in October exclusively on next gen and PC now 😆) I hope the EA guys have nothing to do with the online structure. Society play is fantastic and can be improved in every game, so much potential. 2k23's ranking matchmaking and everything that was part of EA's online game have zero interest from me. Hopefully the EA guys work solely on the career PGA part of the game, TV like presentation etc. That is the one aspect of a golf game where EA Excell. Gameplay on HB series of golf games plays much better than any EA Tiburon PGA game, the whole swing/putt mechanic their games use is poor. I know some like EA's latest offering but gameplay wise it has hardly improved from Rory. To think Rory was out at the same time as TGC1, 2K23 is a massive improvement over TG1's extremely basic swing mechanic. The putting was the best thing about that game and it actually having a course designer which gave the game longevity.I checked on Steam and I put in about 550 hours on TGC1 and I hated the golf swing in that game, a testament to how good the putting was and the great community courses.

The EA devs could really be key to adding depth to the game. EA PGA Tour's best aspects IMO are career mode and the plethora of Challenges you can complete. They even added more once they brought the Ryder Cup and then Jack Nicklaus into the game. Since 2K has Tiger locked into a long-term deal, I really want them to utilize that license and let me re-create moments in Tiger's career or something like that, just like EA did with Jack and the Ryder Cup. And 2K also has the licenses to use pros and the PGA Tour, so getting the most out of those seems like it should be a focus for them.
I do prefer 2K's gameplay to EA, but 2K lacks quite a bit in the way of multiple rich features and game modes that could really take the game to a new level. And since it appears that they're sticking to the current engine once again, it's things like in-depth modes that will draw customers to choose 2K25/6 over just keeping 2K23.

I am all for a better career mode better tournament presentation which in itself brings more immersion. EA dropped the course designer which made their Tiger games so good in the 2000's if we have no course designer I will not purchase the next game. This is a community golf game and without a CD it loses everything.30 odd courses simple can't compensate for the amount of great and free content the HB golf games had. The official content wears thin very quickly no matter how well presented it is.

I'm thinking in a whole different direction. When they released 2K23, they did so in October on the heels of the ending PGA season and the beginning of the new PGA season. With the changes made to the PGA format, where the current official season starts in January, I'm thinking 2K may want to try for a launch in January along with the official season start.

With the changes made to the PGA format, where the current official season starts in January, I'm thinking 2K may want to try for a launch in January along with the official season start. Definitely see the logic there, but I do wonder if releasing in January is the best move. It means they miss having the game out for the holiday season, and are now counting on consumers to spend more discretionary income on a golf game in the dead middle of winter, after just racking up bills buying gifts and such. Still doing an October release means it would be out in time for holiday gift giving. Releasing the game in March means it would be dropping at the time when excitement for golf (pro and real-life) is at its peak as spring weather approaches, courses in cold parts of the world begin to open, and the Masters is right around the corner. I personally think they choose one of these two options, just as others have said before. No matter what, hopefully we find out soon!

Was there any type of news before the release of 2K23? By this time 2 years ok 2k23 was listed in the take two pipeline and had been for 3 months. Unless business practice has changed there will be no 2k25 this year.

Hopefully 2K26 will be using a new engine. My guess they are rebuilding the game from the ground up using Eco-Motion from 2K and dumping Unity. Can you imagine the course designer using the new graphics engine? Should be amazing when it goes live.
