I play with an almost 'blank' HUD, so I have to admit that I rarely look at the 'maximum putt" number unless I find my normal putting stroke is extremely long or short. If I haven't figured out the speed by the 4th hole or so, that's either on me - or I'm lucky to be hitting so close I don't need to know, lol. It would be cool if they implemented a practice green that was 'course specific' that you could hit before a round, with the same green speed as the round is set for. Then I'd think it would be fair of them to eliminate any reference to 'green speed' or 'max distance' while playing. I STILL don't 'feel' any significant ball-type difference in putting under 50 feet, or downhill rollout, but that's my lack of stick skills, perhaps ... and only a half dozen rounds with low-level consumables to judge it by, as well. Wasn't it in TGC2 where from the event screen you could go to practice and, I think but don't quote me on it, the putting green was course and round specific speed. I don't understand why they removed being able to go to practice from the event screen. Having to back out to practice then quit that and manoeuvre back to the society or career area to start your event is long! I think so, it was definitely in one of the games. A great and pretty obvious idea which in typical HB fashion was not carried on. I sometimes wonder if they ever really think before they do what they do. The instant replays, awful, the endless feet shuffling ghosts do, terrible. So easy to fix!

I have 3 each of the epic aviator and redline. How did you get your hands on legendary, if I may ask? Used VC to "buy" them. Seems they're "on sale" now too.

Sam Snead smoother than Els. Maybe but Ernie's in his prime was poetry in motion. Just loved too watch it. Who is Sam Snead??? Oh you mean Humphry Bogart. Now i will admit he was smooth but not Ernie smooth. He did know how to win.

Freddy was silky. I’d take his swing now!

I played a round in kinetic yesterday with two ghosts, one of them had a green speed higher than me and the other ghost which were the same as each other. I'm assuming he had a roll fitting or skill set on his putter. It increased the speed number by 2 metres/6-7 feet. Obviously likes faster greens 😁 There is a skill that increases roll, why anyone would apply it is beyond me

Freddy was silky. I’d take his swing now! As an ex instructor I’d take Hogan all day long. He was ahead of his time with regards to a one plane swing (Kuchar, Garcia, McIlroy, Scott, Rahm, Tiger post 2005). He realised keeping the clubface square to his path for longer meant less face roll / rotation and therefore required less timing to be consistent. Furyk did this incredibly well through the hitting area (waist high to waist high) but just went a little bit rogue at the top!

Shows how much attention I apply to skills 🤣

In saying that it'd be handy at my real course 😂, they've been bloody slow lately compared to what they're usually like and I'm not a fan.

where do you sit with Moe Norman? that dude had some impressive stats. Arguably the best ball striker that’s ever lived. One of my old bosses met him by mistake in Canada, he was out representing the PGA of Great Britain at a conference and was hitting balls on the range and he noticed there was an old guy who was hitting a telegraph pole at 150 yards pretty much more often than he missed it. Went back up to the club later and asked who that guy was, they told him “oh that’s Moe Norman” and told him his history. This was before the internet etc so my boss couldn’t believe what he was hearing about Moe!

There are that many stories I’ve heard through the grape vine.
He hated flying so only played Canadian opens. Won more than he lost. One day he’s on the range hitting balls. After about 100 balls some one says, why haven’t you adjusted the tee your hitting off. Response was “you hit the ball not the tee”
In an event with Snead they faced a creek running through the hole that Snead layed up. Moe had driver in hand and Snead said he had too much club. Moe’s come back, “I’m going to hit it at he bridge is that crosses the stream”, surely enough…
