Just putting an update here, based on my own situation, and my original post.
My DS5, while wired, does great. I rarely get a "very" anything, and when I do, I know I did it, and why it happened. Most of my tempo issues were solved, when I replaced my Xbox elite with the DS5.
That said-
I wanted so bad to run it wireless as I hate cords.
My first issue was that it wouldn't even connect on Bluetooth. I solved that by getting an external Bluetooth thing to plug in USB from Amazon. It worked, but the DS5 still wouldn't see it. I got a USB extension cable, and put the bluetooth thing where it had line of sight to my chair, and it worked perfectly after that. I did not think Bluetooth needed line of sight, but hey, the proof is in the pudding. The adapter is less than 5 feet from where I sit, and moving it up above the desk by only 3 foot higher solved that problem. The desk is wood, not made of lead. LOL
Now that bluetooth was working, a second issue then was realized. I could not keep the controller charged, without plugging it in the USB. So I ordered a DS5 charger, and just kept running it USB for the time being. It was before Christmas, so Amazon said they were out of stock and would be about a month. I got the charger about a week before Christmas. Put everything on bluetooth, and the charger worked great.
But- Running my DS5 wirelessly, over bluetooth, which was not functioning perfectly, made a mess of my game.
I have no idea why, but when I run my DS5 over bluetooth, I suddenly went back to XBox style tempo issues, perhaps EVEN WORSE. I mean, I was getting random very fasts and very slows again, and all the time, and no idea why. Totally messed up my game.
So I have consigned to turn bluetooth back off, and am just playing the game with a DS5, hooked up with a USB cable. Once I did that, tempo went right back to perfects and the grey area, blacks here and there, "very fast or slow" only when I slip and know that I've done it wrong.
Not sure why, but thats what my experience with this has been.
Could be a problem with the USB bluetooth dongle, I used an official Sony one for ages before I got a motherboard with WiFi and BT . There also could be something interfering with your bluetooth signal, it is more sensitive because the polling rate is much higher over BT (unless you have overclocked over USB).

Great thread, loaded with good info so thanks. Designing is brutal on a controller, both my Carbon Black and cheapo PDP have drift really bad so I ordered a DS5 thinking I'd try to get the highest score in CC history ... Patiently waiting for the USPS man to get here.

I'm on pc, ds5 wired updated to the latest firmware and overclocked at 4ms 1000hz. I can get 1ms only at 8000hz but I've seen more people who manage 1ms at 1000hz don't understand why I can get 1ms only at 8000hz? I can get: 4ms at 1000Hz 2ms at 4000Hz 1ms at 8000Hz Somebody else? Same here, I am at 4ms with a 1000 OC and 1ms with 8000 OC. Not sure of any difference but I know I am getting many slows and very slows as compared to my Xbox controller

You can tweak the rumble there and I set mine to "legacy" level and the ds5 vibrates wicked hard.

I always felt my rumble was a bit lite in 2K23, but legacy definitely increased the intensity.

I can Feel the Vibration but i cant swing forward at the Vibration Point. You definitely have to swing a bit after the vibration starts. I see the vibration as built to tell you when to start and gives you that split second to then react.

I've been using dualsense on my pc for 1 month and actually I've always felt very little vibration, you can't change it from the game and not even from steam, I didn't know this thing about the DS4app . Are there various increment steps for the vibration or can you just choose legacy only? Should the DS4app be held open while playing? thank you

Word of warning;
Thrustmaster eSwap Pro - been a great controller with Xbox layout and PS like tempo, no faults there.
The interchangeable thumb sticks DO NOT LAST VERY LONG. Had the controller 4 months and now they are drifting badly and it's unplayable. Not sure I want to pay £20 for new thumb sticks every few months.
Just something to consider if you are looking at this controller

I assume that’s why they’re doing replaceable thumb sticks, reoccurrence revenue

This thread is a good read. I've been playing with the Elite 2 for about 10 weeks now. I play with the tension set all the way tight and right. Love it and hit a lot of near straight and perfects with it and refuse to calibrate it ever. Just plugged it into my pc and played it right out of the box and never even looked into the options screen. I always play wired but it appears that it doesn't matter for this controller according to this thread. But I do run into a couple of WTF Dark Grey Slows every once in awhile and that makes me wonder about the input. This conversation about 125/1000/8000 ms or whatever is intriguing. Guess I'm gonna waste 300 dollars on the Wolverine and Edge controller for testing/experiment fun. But I highly doubt it will make me a better player or shave strokes off my average. Fingers Crossed.
