ROFL they don't have 1000s of people voting rofl at best there may be 500 active players and that's being kind. These guys think they own HB/2K or someone has a god complex. You're a strange wee fella, aren't you? It's quite amusing that you think it remarkable that a forum full of experienced online gamers, might have an opinion on what is best for a game they have played competitively for coming on 10 years... Do a bit of digging. Check a bit of history... you'll see that quite often, forum feedback has resulted in change (sometimes reasonably significant) to the game we play. It's not an unusual thing, this developer feedback loop. Far from it in fact. Said it before, and I'll say it again - if you don't like being part of the discussions (some of which I'll admit, I find a bit out there), you're free to leave at any time. ROFL. Don't feed its multiple personalities.

It can be.. but not to what degree. My point is that we allow the grid on the green. If it's easy to tell, why have a green grid? I can't help but think the lie grid is off because that's the default Master setting. Didn't we have lie grid on old TGC master? The lie grid is off because TGCT, with votes from thousands of members, decided it added an extra layer of uncertainty to help keep scores in check on certain flights. Nothing more than that I believe the lie grid was always on until the switch (due to red fast nerf) to Pro difficulty on the tours. Totally get why the decision was made back then since they had to inject some more difficulty with the Pro swing, but if we're shifting back to a harder swing, it seems like it would make sense to make that switch back. There's a lot of people and a lot of opinions.... and we all know what they say about opinions

Well, I had a variable event to say the least. I teed up in R1 expecting the worst and was -8 at the turn, which was amazing to me as my best round in career mode up to that point had been only about -4 in total. I stopped after 9 holes because it was late and I was tired, and when I picked it up again the next day I played the back nine in +1. Night and day.
I left it a few days before R2, and I had played quite a few more career rounds by then so I felt I had a better handle on the game. This proved to be semi-correct in as much as I played much, much, MUCH better, and whistled round in -15. This therefore also proved to be semi-incorrect as such a low score was completely inexplicable to me, and an absolute outlier.
Nonetheless I was of course delighted, and immediately pushed on into R3. After 5 holes I was +5, and ended up on +1, then followed that up with -1 in R4 to finish the event at -22 and definitively prove that I know nothing whatsoever about anything at all.
I've tried some rounds on master and my tempo was laughably poor, so if (as expected) TCCTours goes that way then I am in for an extended nightmare of very high scores. But it's a learning process. Theoretically.

Event/Difficulty: Elite/Masters Swing type (analog/3 click): PS5 analog Thoughts on how it played (frustration/fun factor): Loved the first two rounds and didn’t like round 3 (greens too slow which ruined my putting) and hated round 4 (rain is a distraction and makes everything look dull).
-11, -14, -4, -5 (difference all down to putting because I find faster greens a lot easier)
Still love the game and Masters settings.

Thought I'd share my thoughts for admin.
Event/Difficulty: Played all 4 rounds at Platinum / Legend and 1 round so far at Elite / Masters
Swing type: Analog
Thoughts on how it played: Since purchasing the game I've played on Master and enjoy that level. I feel like I have control, yet it's not simple. As I get better I score better but I'm not close to double digits under par...yet. On Master I can feel when I'm fast and slow so that helps me understand it was me who missed, not some game issue, and that increases the challenge and fun.
On Legend it's a different game. The round is constant scrambling and my scores are reflective of this. I enjoy playing on this level but find it so challenging to get "Perfect" that I start to believe it's got randomness built-in...when that's probably not true.
When I swing it's a challenge to get perfect tempo but also to get a straight line like I see some streamers do, so it's penalizing when I miss...hence the constant scrambling. Having said all that I believe Master will soon be too easy for the best players and we'll see very low scores. Legend may turn out the same but I think on Legend you're going to see a great difference between the top players and even 1 notch below, while the CC level players may get very frustrated.
I believe some of the enjoyment that comes from a society like this is the ability to compete near the top of a leaderboard from time to time so the trick is probably to have enough tours that everyone is competitive at their own level. Unfortunately, I understand there are administrative limitations to this. I'll offer up my support if there's anything I can do from a computer, but I have limited time on the PS5 daily...just enough to play my single round at 5am, prior to heading to work.
Overall, I really enjoy the game. Is it perfect...no. But the physics are good, and I enjoy playing, learning, improving and competing. Whether I end up at a level playing on Legend or Master I'll still play and enjoy it, but if it's up to me (it isn't) I'd prefer not to play every week simply hoping to make the cut and ultimately finishing 30-40 strokes behind the leader. It seems societies with 100 players max would help resolve this issue, but that may not be feasible. I'll be happy regardless and look forward to the year.
Sprinkled a few rain rounds in these events - if you get one and notice frame drops/lag please let me know here as well. No issues for me. I don't see a reason to play in the rain often...maybe at tournaments based in certain climates, and just for a round.
Thanks everyone.

If I get another lag in my backswing that causes me a stroke again… I’m done with this game. It happens to me just playing MyCareer and it’s really frustrating.

Probably 95% of my rounds have been in Career and I don't know if it's the mode, the courses, or something unrelated. At first I had noticed some stutter while my putt was rolling, but then also when fast-forwarding shots and on occasion at the top of my swing. Not sure if it's the tournament objects or what. I don't think I've managed to come close to hitting the green at Scottsdale #16 once.

Event / Difficulty: Elite + Kinetic / Master Swing: Analog (on PS5) Archetype: Used Powerhouse (Elite) + Rhythm (Kinetic) No fittings yet (don't want to waste VC until I can work out where I eventually need most help, which is currently everywhere )
Been on Kinetic, with odd short Elite stints, for past few seasons. Played Master from the start assuming TGCT would use this or Legend. I'm struggling with consistency on timing although moving to Rhythm helped a bit. Only 3 of the 8 rounds under par (just), rest just over par; on Master a poor shot at the wrong time can be severely punished. Unlike Master on 21 this time each poor shot I could tell what I had got wrong (just got to work out a way to fix it now). Frustrations just with my poor play.
Rain rounds no lag / stutter for me.
Looks like Master is suitable for the Tours this year to me, probably with various aids on/off on different tiers. I've played a couple of rounds on Legend and maybe this is where Platinum ends up.
The different ball physics, particularly bounce and roll on greens, is the biggest impact for me. After playing rounds at different green speeds it seems to me that speeds over about 145-150 play poorly particularly for ball roll out. Had a (rare) perfect wedge into a normal green on 161 speed; first bounce ok, second checked a bit then rolled 40 yards off the green with only some mild yellow slopes. Also trying to hit a short put (under 10ft) on 160+ greens the putter head only moves marginally back to get the pace, too scared to try anything over 170.
On 2K21 Master we had a number of aids on that were turned off in the switch to Pro to try to make it tougher. With the new ball physics and swing changes in 23 maybe some of these need to be back on (probably depending on tier). With the way the ball rolls on green slopes I would like to see Aim Marker back to On rather than Marker only so we can see elevation changes better to gauge putts, particularly for those of us who regularly have long putts.
Looking forward to see if my scores improve in next weeks test events.

Thanks for the feedback everyone - still another couple weeks of exhibition events on the horizon. Went in and brightened up the next round since there's no point in testing more rain/overcast/light cloud. Keep the feedback coming. Should note the next round of events should have lie grid on. I am looking to have this back on (it'll likely be set to open) for the season since the game is much tougher this go around. If you have it off by default, might be good to switch to on if you want to make use of it. I'm going to assume it's not OP and most people will enjoy it back on but feel free to give thoughts on it as well. Will look to dial in the settings we'll use for the upcoming season following the 2nd week of exhibition events and then have at least one more round of exhibition events on the settings we'll run with.
If everything is ready after that, we'll fire off then - if not, we'll have to tread water until all ducks are lined up in a row!

Are we definitely leaning towards a minimum of Master on the main tours Doyley ?

Last season CC-C player, but been playing master since the game came out, played 2 rounds on the Kinetic test, shot -2 on both, loved the masters test as it kept the round engaging, and the scoring felt more realistic.
Pro is just boring swinging with no thought, only way to make pro interesting is to dial up the settings on every round, or playing tricked up courses which will get boring quick also, and the same as last season scores will be stupid to make a cut.

Thanks Doyley - no strong feelings on it overall, but do feel that for the higher tiers, it adds a level of engagement shot to shot (not just fast forward and check your lie, you need to watch your shot finish and understand the lie), and a level of imprecision with regards to it's uncertainty on DH / UH lies (more than side hill).

CC D player last season. Played 4 rounds Kinetic at +1. Was at -5 after 3 but I wasn’t prepared for the putting speed on the last round. Master level seems right to me. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment when it goes well.
