I think this was a difficult course for this type of play test.
Anywho, can't remember the last time I went in a water hazard and did so here on the first tee shot. Then did again on 18. I think it was 16 (long par 5) that I put a rare drive in the fairway and found myself 400 yards out for the second shot. Another hole I was 15 yards off the green on the side of a steep hill and took four shots to get it in putting distance.
Ultimately, ended up +7 for the first. Will play the rest for science, but this brought up a lot of bad memories. 😄😄
Edited to add: finished up the four rounds, with some improvement: +10 overall. Rounds of +7, +2, -2, +3. FIR: 42.3%, GIR: 31.9%.
Level of fun overall? Pretty minimal, although my tempo generally improved as I went along. But a big number always seemed to be lurking if a tempo miss was untimely. Again, I think that course was a difficult test, it felt like even small misses were punishing. Hoping the next course is slightly easier.

Managed a 63 first round which was about what I expected given I haven't played on master pretty much all season. Back 9 was a bit better once I got a bit more used to the more narrow timing window. It probably feels like a bit much of a jump from pro, somewhere about 50-75% between pro and master would probably be the best trade off between difficulty and enjoyment level, for me anyway. But I may have a different view once I play more rounds. This sounds like you don't like Master and was too much yet you hit a 63!! This just seems crazy to me. Not sure what par is but this is at least -7 and you're not happy? Not so much not happy, just not used to getting such wildly different tempos from "swings" that all feel pretty much the same. I did get better at it as the round went on however, and I enjoyed the challenge of it when it was used for the tours. I felt it was too easy to hit perfect on pro, but at least I could feel when I missed it. When I hit slices or hooks in real golf, most times I can feel that I've stopped rotating and thrown my hands at it or turned it over too much, or lost balance or whatever, but I can rarely feel a difference between a grey fast and a grey slow in this game, that often give similar results. If I miss red I can feel it though.

-22 to finish. Two poor rounds in the middle (relatively; -4, -4). Hard to make a call on how I feel. I'm pretty sure it would prefer Master as that's how I play on all my true sim societies but one note I would make is these kind of tricked up courses with tiny landing zones on Xbox on master can get really old really fast. It turns into splash city where it's really easy to make par but you're hitting 30 yard splashes as your next shot every time you miss tempo because the greens just run off into almost vertical uphill lies in heavy rough everytime. I much prefer designs where an off tempo shot leaves you with a tricky putt from 40/50 feet but maybe that's just personal preference and maybe in hindsight this was more of a platinum set-up having played all four rounds. Maybe course choice will be a separate conversation if we go back to masters. Anyway, week one down. I enjoyed the swing difficulty, didn't like the course in the end but a useful exercise for sure. Looking forward to Frans fat fingers getting TST trial event set up for next week... 😉 As always, thanks for trying something different again Doyley and trying to keep things fresh and challenging. I agree about the greens Craig. Not CC standard. I hit many, stayed on very few. And it just keeps rolling and rolling. I can’t say in the end it was a lot of fun but I wouldn’t expect to see those greens on CC next season. With this being for all they can’t have CC level type courses as the Pro players would rip it to shreds. Data collecting. It is just 4 rounds per week. I can play a round in about 15-17 min. Ben, how fast can you play a round?

If I miss red I can feel it though. Isn't that how it should be, as the grey tempo and white boxes are very small (on long irons and woods especially)on master there is a fine line between a great or good shot or average shot. It is small timing difference we have with a quick push of the stick.Tbh with shot feedback off you worry less about whites, greys, reds whatever and just worry about your ball flight for how well you have struck the ball. I couldn't tell you if I hit a grey or perfect but I know when I got a great or good shot or average shot. So much more immersive and if possible to switch off for society play on 2K 23 TST should definitely switch shot feedback off. Way more fun.

Out of interest is the data being collected API-based as in how many perfects etc. are achieved by platform, stats-based stuff like FIR, GIR or simply scoring by platform? Or all three?

Not sure how turning off haptic feedback would make anyone less concerned about grays and reds - the end result is still the end result.
Moving to Master settings alone might make some players jump ship (depending, of course, how these levels play in the new game), removing haptic feedback would probably add more. Especially on the XBox side.

Especially on the XBox side. He means the shot feedback not the haptik feedback. Watching the ball flight rather than focusing on a tempo wheel for feedback. Edit: That said, and I know Hammersman agrees, if we could remove Haptik feedback for all it would go a LONG way to levelling the console disparity. In my opinion that would be as relevant as swing difficulty if it's lockable in the new game.

Bit gutted to see TST exhibition is still Pro. No worries, back to career mode. As explained in the forum and on discord; that was a bit of a fat finger incident… We’ll have some Master exhibition events in the next few weeks. Sound. Look forward to it. May have to play this tourney on TST settings in the meantime.

I always saw it as a training wheel aid for beginners. I never used it as I don't want the game helping me out with my distance control, same goes for that stupid practice putt distance feedback. I think shot feedback switched off and marker off pretty much takes away the problem of haptic feedback and practice putt feedback.

Defo have a feel when I shoot a bad shot without worrying about perfect and red/grey fast/slows. Feel is a lot better offline though. Sometimes that feel goes AWOL online, usually on a Sunday night when the servers are at their busiest.

And if I had to guess, there's a high % of CC players that use it. Not everyone wants this to be close as possible to an IRL experience. It's the reason we're playing a video game.

Of course it is more important on the greens as when you set the marker it basically tells you how hard to hit your putt. It isn't that hard to work out the distance with a little practice (the game has been out 2 years) but using an aid to tell you that distance, how are you going to get good at putting? Also mouse users can't use the aid so bit unfair there I think. Also I am sure it would be locked off on TGCTours if they had the option to. TGC 2019 didn't have this aid so why do people think it's needed in this game.
