UNBELIEVABLE, we now go into trial mode on tst and it's called Practice1-Master swing but couldn't be bothered taking the marker off to Practice without the marker . The devs do a fantastic job running tgc tours they really do but it makes me think the boys like the marker on so it helps with they partial pitches and vibration it's a shame as its a big assist so the naming of the society in brackets shouldn't read True sim tour should be called TGCTOURS (Semi sim tour)

We’d like to see whether people would enjoy Master level. We’d like to offer something fun to bridge the gap to 2k23. We don’t like to offer something we already know most players will not enjoy.

In the new game the scrambling will be much more challenging especially as a lot of chips shots will require partial shots. The big argument is that marker off makes it harder to use vibration as an assist for putts and partial shots. I remember when TST went marker only there was uproar because many used to sweep the green with the marker for elevation info. But Matt made the right decision and people got used to putting by actually reading the greens visually. TST should not be TGCTours other tour minus a few aids. I know people use ghost balls that play out of turn for putting feedback, vibration feedback to help distance control, which are not in the spirit of sim play If HB studios do not put vibration assist in the difficulty options next game at least marker off will make it harder to use. Otherwise maybe bring back the power bar then at least mouse users can get the same distance assist. As these are test tournaments so having it off for one tournament couldn't hurt that much even of the TST pitchforks come out for one week.

Would there be no scope to try it for one week amongst the trial? If not, I understand completely; if you guys know that no-one would play that way it's a no-go from the start. Thanks for explaining anyway, Frans. Appreciate it! Hypothetically if vibration is positioned within difficulty options in the next game would this be something you guys on TST would consider disabling on the tour? Or would it be largely the same decision as with the marker?

Ah come on, hammers1man and Craig / Hendomedes, you're not supposed to ask nicely - that's not forum etiquette... Okay, okay, I'll ask my fellow admins if it's okay to switch off the marker for one week and see how people respond. But only if you both promise to play and tell others to do the same! Deal? As for vibration: if it's an option to switch it off in the new game, it is something we would discuss, and probably test, for sure. However, I don't expect switching if off to be an option in the new game - do you?

I’m not a fan of marker off as you can’t ‘walk the green’ unless I’m missing something? Willing to give it another go but never have liked it because reading greens becomes a lottery if you can’t walk the green and see the line from multiple angles.
I have no idea what this vibration thing is, have never used it.

In controls, you have vibration which rumbles on your back swing to tell you to push forward once your set power has been reached. It's a distance control assist.

Just need to find time and access to my console. Damn this decorating malarkey!

You're a legend fransslabak , thanks for taking it on board. I'm realistic enough to expect it to be pretty unpopular but I really hope it surprises some people just how enjoyable it is (and how nice the game looks). Thanks again! Although if it's a one-rounder on Bay Hill default I take it all back lol On the vibration question. Honestly, I think you're right, I don't think it'll be under difficulty although I really do think it should be. And again, I'm realistic enough to know the vast majority have played with these settings for two years now and it's the norm for many. Personally I absolutely hate that setting but everyone is different. It's a massive plus of this game that it's so customisable but it makes you guys jobs on here an absolute nightmare. You'll have people wanting this or that disabled or enabled regardless, usually with me amongst them. It's a thankless task! It is tricky to try and put forward some ideas without sounding petulant, or in the case of the Xbox stuff, like you're making excuses but I do try to be respectful of the tough position the tours are in of trying to balance everything and maintain a happy playerbase. I hope I succeed more often than not, and in my experience all the admins try to accommodate tests and trials where possible. Watch me shoot miles over par every week of the master TST trial now...

Not very immersive. I must have turned it off two years ago and forgot about it as I can’t remember ever using it. Yeah, I use the marker to walk around the green and flick the camera back to look at the line of putt from that angle. Without the marker you won’t be able to do this, surely? I’ve never been able to when switching marker off and I get frustrated at not being able to read the greens from whichever angle I want to.

However, I don't expect switching if off to be an option in the new game - do you? Who knows? I bet many thought they wouldn't go down the route of making chipping more challenging and basically forcing you to play partial chips which is the best update to the game for me. A few of us did bring it up with HBKeith who was the most vocal of the HB devs on their forum just after 2K21 release. It is an extension of the putting meter so it makes absolutely no sense that it can't be locked off in society play as well. The single thing going against marker off is big downhill putts, you can't push the camera far enough behind the hole. You need to change club to get green scout cam but still can't really get that camera low enough. Not ideal so I really hope they fix this also for next game. The new game is very positive for a more sim scrambling experience for TST. Like others here I'll be testing the new game with different settings, so early 2K23 practice tournaments on TST wil be interesting

You can still kind pivot around the fixed point (presumably where the invisible marker sits when it's disabled) and move around that way using putting and approach can. I think people call it 'worm cam' maybe? It's not hugely different once you get used to it aside from on 1ft or more drop downhill putts where it is a bit messier. That's interesting to know though, I'd never heard of using the marker in that way to greenwalk. Every day's a schoolday!

If it is not in the difficulty settings again we all really need to test the impact of using it with marker only and marker off. The big problem if it is a big aid now with chipping new game it is cutting mouse users out, though I think a lot of TST players with controller wouldn't use it also. It is good to test these things before the new season starts.

I do apologise Frans for going off a bit by saying couldn't be bothered, I absolutely love this game and was just a little frustrated that the marker was on We've got a few true sim society's on xbox with say a regular 15 to 20 , it's just would be nice to try it without marker on the best organised society about . I've been a true simmer for years now and it's a fantastic way of playing the game , just wish peeps would try and be patient not give up after 1 event, as like I said best way to play this game in my opinion, thanks a bunch frans for considering for the next event . 👍

Yep indeedy the camera defaults to the invisible marker which cannot be moved. This is a problem when it's a big uphill or downhill putt because from behind, the camera is in such a rubbish position to be able to see the line - big downhill putt and the camera doesn't even show the hole! They should default the camera to just behind the hole when marker is off like 2019 I think it worked fine. A truck around it I think FRSTDOWN on the HB forums suggested, was to switch to chip and use the cameras for that to see the line. It's OK but still a bit naff.
