Pixel Golf Football is back for a third season.
this is the link to the score sheet
With all the upheaval in gameplay and Tour participation the League will stay pretty much as it was in terms of number of participants. The Premier Division have lost Season One Champions Burton Albion and Barcelona who were both relegated, replaced by Celtic and Bristol City. Coventry managed to avoid promotion by a single shot in 515. Chelsea left and Northampton didn't complete enough games so they are replaced by Carlisle United and Leeds United in the Championship and Juventus will also participate there.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will see that the Championship has eleven teams in it and this means that each week at least one side will be playing two matches (their rounds counting that week in two fixtures). It's messy but just bear with me on this one. All fixtures will use the PGF scoring adjustment as will the Sweet FA Cup which will debut in a couple of weeks.
Premier Division
Ajax Amsterdam - fransslabak
Aston Villa - avjpfc
Bristol City - Giraffe72
Cassino Calcio - cassinochips (reigning champions)
F91 Dudelange - up mup kupen nup
Glasgow Celtic - Celtic Wolf (championship winners)
Liverpool - crushtastic
Manchester United - jason755
Orlando Pirates - Art Vandelay
West Ham United - rob4590
Championship
Barcelona - mbuenger
Burton Albion - LEFTY79
Canterbury United Dragons - statelyowl
Carlisle United - Riotous
Coventry City - SkyBlueBen
East Fife - me
Herne Bay - sid snott
Hyvinkään Palloseura - Tombanator
Juventus - FutureBuckeye11
Leeds United - xcltaff1980
Tranmere Rovers - thetaffman
All the usual stuff. Play the first half by Wednesday night if humanly possible and report your score in the thread. Even if you miss the cut play the other rounds as it avoids complications at the end of the season when people can lose a shot at promotion because someone gifts a win to a rival.
Week One sees a lot of old rivalries renewed such as Liverpool and West Ham meeting for what seems to be the tenth time. Newly promoted Celtic travel to Amsterdam to face playoff winners Ajax, whilst the other new boys Bristol City, face a tough start in the Italian mountains at the reigning champions Cassino. There is a heavyweight bout in Brum where the Villa host David Bowie's favourite Luxembourger side, All the Young Dudelangers. Man Utd visit the Mayor's office in Soweto for their opener.
Relegated Barcelona have the chance to get off to a flyer with matches against two of last season's strugglers in East Fife and Tranmere Rovers. They will be looking to get off to a good start, as will their fellow demotees, Burton, who host Coventry City. Most people in the know are tipping Juventus to do well/walk the Championship but the Finnish part-timers Hyvinkään Palloseura have the first chance to throw a spanner in the works of the Grand Old Lady. Leeds United will probably not have tasted the hospitality of Herne Bay but will soon learn that they have more shots than a firing squad. Delighted to welcome the refined Sam Pond back to the fold as he takes Carlisle to Canterbury, though the Cumbrians may be looking forward to a coach trip, that's Canterbury, New Zealand.
Play well, have fun and see you all at Marriot Oceanview.
