Damn that's amazing. Hopefully they made perfects a touch easier/consistent. And by a touch, I mean just that.

Based on this franchise's mechanics since TGC2, the designers intended players to execute the swing "perfectly." The RF removed a large chunk of the tempo challenge and made "swing poorly but score well" the norm. Getting a RF was (and still is) much easier than a Perfect. The RF made the whole experience backward in light of the game's other elements. Kudos HB on this positive step. The game was sooo close already.
Time will tell if the change still leaves a window open for tempo sidesteppers, but I view this as a clear message about how the game should be played.
Poor shots can and should be expected during a challenging golf computer game. If automatic birdies is your bag, there are other difficulty levels in the game waiting!

Now that I've stopped laughing for a second, I wholeheartedly applaud this move by HB/2K. I have never had anything against anyone using the red fast as a stock shot. It was in the game, it certainly was not cheating, it was a swing mechanic exploit there to be used and I didn't let it bother me. I know plenty of others who were very bothered however, to the extent that some have stopped playing these tours. Where I did agree with them was that it didn't feel like the right way to play, so I and many others never have. So apart from our bad shots now being worse, this doesn't really affect those of us who chose to play for perfects and use the shot shaper. I think I would have preferred to see more variation in the line of your shot than just taking 50 yards off your drive, but still this is a big step forward in my eyes. It will be very interesting to see what happens to the status quo on these tours. The top players will always be the top players, but the rest is a very large group!

Yes, I think it will make game harder for all. Especially on wanting to take on a forced carry or not. I will play a rare evening round to see what difference it makes. Thinking red fast miss hits will make fairways in reg easier with the misshit. Top players from last game playing red fast will adapt and be good and competitive again just maybe not top tier,

Well, goodbye any progress I had made at getting decent at this game. There is a lesser difficulty level called pro.

I've never played the red fast, red fast played me. I've always tried for perfects but had a real struggle (at times, dependent on my rhythm for the day, some days were terrible, some great) getting them.
After a quick 12 holes or so I found this change just perfect for me. So much easier for me to hit perfect or a grey. Love it. Tempo seems just right for me now.
However.
Had a 29'ish pitch shot onto a green. Before if not hit properly it would blow over the green into the water. As an experiment I just left it, smashed a red fast, came within a couple feet of the cup, the nerf knocked 20'ish yards off the pitch shot.

This is awesome. Long over due. The disparity in the results between fast and slow were too great.

So I headed to the practice range in game during my lunch break, and I got to witness the 220-yard duck hooks with my own eyes!
However, to see what else may have changed, I tried to consistently hit very slow drives. I was able to replicate with pretty much each swing a very slow shot with 101% power. I am using the Titleist driver that's the max distance - the one you get for reaching level 75 of the latest clubhouse pass.
With that very slow shot, I would get a carry of 285 yards on each drive, with a roll out to about 310. This was with a light 5-7 mph breeze at my back. So it seems that slows and very slows were not touched at all (I mean, I wouldn't have expected them to, but it's interesting that very slows aren't penalized the way very fasts are).

As someone who was benefitting from red fasts, I'm annoyed but will learn to adapt and hope to transition to perfects.
However, the fact that tournaments are 100% unfair depending on when you played this week is an absolute joke.
