So, basically, now just aim left and swing slow... If you want to cost yourself 25-40 yards on every drive, I suppose.

where one door closes, another door opens Yep. Some of us did red slows for right to left cross breezes already to make the aim easy much like red fasts for left to right. Well, they heard I was playing red fasts for one week and decided enough was enough apparently. Of course last night I accidentally clicked advance into round 3 of my plat rounds with my red fast clubs so this will be an adventure The bigger question is what effect this has on pitch shots. If a fast pitch turns out as bad as a slow pitch, we are screwed.

I think that was the problem with red fasts. To me, red fasts completely took the "slow" miss out of the equation. Now, it seems you could just repeat slow swings, and take that very fast miss penalty out of the equation, too. Interesting to see...

As one of the few who moved from exclusively perfects to using tempo to shape shots this is kind of a 'your way of playing the game is invalid' kind of thing. I certainly recognize that I'm in a tiny minority of players, but it doesn't feel great to know that all the work I put in to be able to hit any tempo on demand is (half) wiped out. I suppose I have the advantage now of having been used to playing slow tempo to hit cut shots and that will be the meta very quickly, but my toolbox for shot shaping just got sliced in half. Sure, there's the shot shaper, but IMO it's very checkbox like, whereas shot shaping via tempo was more art. I imagine they'll do red slows next, but it probably will take another half a year.

I'd hoped, but didn't think they'd actually do it. Well done HB.

Are you going to give out demotion marks this week? Some players will have got 4 rounds in before the new update. Some will need to rebuild their swing which will take time. I played a red fast and it was NOT CHEATING. Some might say hitting a perfect line(which appears easier on PS) does not happen in real golf. I for one will be considering what to do now and despite being in the promotion positions after r3 on h, will probably end up with demotion marks.....what a joke.

That will definitely be one of the main factors to consider. But I have to say, losing 25 yards on a drive and eliminating the very fast swing sounds better at face value than trying for a perfect, hitting a red fast or very fast, and potentially only carrying the ball 220. Editor's note - I play for perfects, and I don't really play much on tour, so I don't really care one way or the other.

I applaud this change, as I found the "Red Fast" to be more of an exploit than an art. It always sort of cheapens the tone of a multiplayer match when somebody uses it, at least in my eyes. I feel like I need to take a shower after I've been beaten by someone using it in matchmaking. I guess it still takes skill to perfect it, but it takes away about half of the possible shot outcomes. It will be interesting to see how this affects scoring averages.

If you made the cut, you can’t get a demotion mark.
