I’ll buy the game because I like golf games but I’ll mainly focus my attention to where the TGC Tours is and with some of the societies I am part of. But interest will force me to buy the EA game. But no course designer and only 30 or so courses? But competition is good and usually brings the best out of companies.

If this gives us some real good physics and as it says, some unique, fluid swings, then I'm game! You know EAs animations are usually sound and great graphics with these realistic shot outcomes, that's not too shabby at all. Will of course hold judgement until I see some official stuffs and actually see some gameplay. I did that with 2k23, thought it was average and yet still purchased. What a waste that was. And this could be a huge waste too with no course designing and 30-40 courses. I don’t care how much better the game play, graphics or whatever you want to say is compared to 2K. It will get boring and stale fast. But again, competition is good.

If the gameplay & online components are flat out missing or not engaging then I’ll put the controller down after a round or two. Never got bored with an EA golf game with the exception of Rory they have been excellent for enjoying competitive live gameplay & I’m sure they’ll bring it with this £100 deluxe version.

The problem for me with EA's golf games is it is mostly the same PGA courses that we have been playing in golf games the last 2 decades. Though I think that TGC1 was a pretty bog standard golf game with a great putting mechanic it was because of the course designer that I put in over 500 hours into that game. It was so refreshing to play European and other different courses from around the globe. Even local courses from close to where I live, not about endless but about more variety. I don't design but some of the courses in these games are the best RCR's I have played in video games. I wouldn't even put any official HB course in my top 20 favourite courses. This game would be dead without it's CD, people would just lose interest sooner than later. I have owned every EA golf game but very rarely play them for a long time as it just get boring playing the same old courses every year.

Not a fan of only having those 30 courses in the deluxe version of the game. The standard version should have 30 minimum. Looks like this will be a costly golf game if you want a reasonable amount of courses. One of the the reasons EA will never go back to having a course designer in their games again. When did EA have a course designer? Played from Tiger 99 - Rory. I don't remember a course designer.

What's funny is that everyone is saying that EA's game will get stale...interestingly enough, I feel 2K23 is very stale already and DOES have a designer. The designer itself is basically the same it's been for years, with very few new assets added since 2014, no new clubhouses/buildings, less functionality for PC designers, and a host of bugs and glitches. There's a reason good, new courses are still coming out at a snail's pace. Most of the courses we've played here to this point have been 2K21 ports. The main addition to the new designer is splining fences, and people are already complaining about designers using that feature too much...
2K's career mode is hollow, and you have to play on basically all the same courses in there anyway, since they never update the curated list with any new user-made tracks (Torrey Pines North has been the only add to it). So if EA can make an immersive single player career mode with some of the best-known courses on the planet, you're likely getting a better single player experience than 2K can offer, and that's why it's of interest to me.

What would be nice if you could take your character from a junior player up to the senior ranks.

What would be nice if you could take your character from a junior player up to the senior ranks. EA's game is going to have the US Amateur, so that might be how they go about career mode. Not sure about the senior side of things. EA will also have the LPGA in it, according to their website.

This game will be a half price purchase to me but only if it gets good reviews. I have no tolerance paying full price for two niche games that have a ton of issues that are never addressed.

Agree with you completely. TopGolf? Takes a half hour to find a match. Where did they put Divot Derby or was that removed too at the same time live ghost in societies was destroyed? Playing career mode at 120 green speed is just silly. There's no personality to it and what little there is, it just feels all canned. To add to your point, the game also feels stale due to very few people actively designing. I feel this is due to HB/2K completely botching the most important area, their bread and butter.........the course designer. Yes I know the designer is still there but they need tools for functionality and efficiency and they've been given VERY little. So, I get the impression many of them have moved on. That leaves us with ports that don't play well on the current game.
