On one hand, competition is good. On the other, we don't need the player base to be divided. Hmmm...

Couple of thoughts
1) they no longer have Tiger
2) Isn't PGA tour associated with 2k right now?
3) 100% guarantee EA will not have a course creator and even if they did it would be micro transactions out the a hole.
4) Get ready for 5 courses at Launch and lots of DLC

Golden Tee also has the PGA TOUR license. 3) You're probably right, but 2K isn't exactly known for their unwillingness to use paid DLC, either...*cough NBA 2K series *cough 4) I sure hope EA learned from the mistakes they made with Rory McIlroy. Although, all of Rory's post-release courses were given away for free, so... That press release was definitely targeted at the areas where people have been a bit negative on 2K21 - it mentions a famous real course by name (Pebble Beach), and mentions you can play against and as real pro golfers. Since HB can't seem to get the career mode sorted out (leaderboards shifting and changing, etc.), perhaps the EA game can. Then I'll end up getting two golf games - one to design courses and play TGC Tours, and one to actually get a quality single player experience.

Bet EA will get DJ as cover athlete. But they can’t get BILLY HORSCHEL! He’s with 2K, right?

Developers finally realizing there are millions of 30- and 40-something gamers who also love golf thanks to Tiger's influence.
Competition in the sports market can't be a bad thing right? Madden's staleness is exhibit A.
Success of either game hinges on a course creator and quality competitive online play. Hopefully there's no currency arms race for the longest and most accurate attributes. Playing as a real-life pro has never tickled my interests but could be fun if different pros had different strengths/weaknesses.
Hopefully next gen brings an innovative and fresh swing system. The one-joystick-backward-forward move hasn't changed in twenty years. Maybe something with both joysticks, the tilt of the pad, etc...?

Simply giving folks an option to play with or against the golfers rather than just the player’s name on a leaderboard would bring in more of the casual players than any other feature they could add.

Competition is a good thing. We see Madden being terrible for years now with nobody to push them.

I can't see both games having the pga and fed Ex licence also I don't think the real courses EA secure being included in 2k it will also open up all sorts of copyright issues if someone makes 1 of the EA courses in 2k course creator

The PGA TOUR can sell the rights to whomever they want. It's like back when there were multiple NFL games, or multiple NBA games. The issues with the course creator, in my eyes, are already being seen. I think this could be why 2K/HB's been going after replicas of Augusta, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, etc. and censoring them to make them unsearchable in game.

If EA could get a proper career mode with licensed majors and other tournaments I would probably be all in depending on game play. Competition is defiantly good, as a baseball fan its something MLB the Show needs is a proper competitor
