I play mainly golf but have started to try MLB The Show. Baseball is my favorite sport so I figured I’d give it a try. I don’t know much about the game modes but have quickly played a few BR which is a lot of fun. I’m also playing Ranked Seasons. I’m slowly figuring out the hitting. I’ll take my lumps for now but my interests is the ranked seasons. I don’t even recall how I even got my lineup as the two modes are mixing up in my head. Am I supposed redraft for BR and not sure what to do with regard s to my rosters in Ranked Seasons. I see in ranked seasons teams have over 200 games played with their record being shown. How long is a season or how many games is played. Ranked seasons in MLB The Show last for a predetermined amount of time, if I remember correctly - something like a month. You can play as many games during that timeframe as you want. Diamond Dynasty mode follows a different format than the actual MLB season. The team you use in Ranked Seasons is the one you build using the cards you unlock in packs, win via the market, or as you play and complete challenges.

Apparently it will be included with Gamepass on day 1. Don't own an Xbox so I didn't read past the headline so I can provide no further details beyond that.

And just an fyi, there are weekly Dev interviews on youtube at the San Diego Studios MLB The Show 21 channel.

Any tips for New players? What game modes are the best? Anything that can a noob pitch or hit better out of the gate?

Any tips for New players? What game modes are the best? Anything that can a noob pitch or hit better out of the gate? That's really a hard thing to say because there's so much on offer that will cater to so many different tastes. The game of course tries to steer you towards Diamond Dynasty which is their version of EA's Ultimate Team where you open packs of cards to fill your roster. Even though they want you to spend real money on cards they give you plenty of opportunities for free packs, so I would steer clear of buying stubs unless you're desperate to stock up quickly against online opponents. It does have standard non-DD online as well, so if you prefer real rosters you have that. Franchise is there if you want to play the full games along with managing every aspect of your team. As with all non-online game modes you can mess with the settings to set it up how you want. Only want to play the games and let the CPU do everything else, you can. Only want to do the front office stuff and let the CPU play the games, you can. You can mix and match everything to do as much or as little as you want. Be A Pro is the career mode where you play as a single player from the prospect showcase to the minors to the big leagues and eventually retirement. This is great when you have less time to play as you only focus on the actions of one player so depending on the position and settings you choose you can get through a game in a couple of minutes. You'll always be in charge of hitting but if you don't want to deal with base running or fielding you can turn those off. As far as hitting or pitching better that will once again be up to you. There's a bunch of difficulty settings that you can choose from along with a dynamic one which will change based on your play. Everything else is up to you, and you will be overwhelmed by the choice especially as a new player. You could easily spend a week or two playing around with things until you find what you like. Old school button press controls are there. Analog controls where you swing using the stick are there. Meters more similar to old 3-click golf games are there. These apply for for pitching, hitting, and fielding and can of course all be set separately. Hitting and pitching also have all sorts of other tweaks that can be done to make it as easy or hard as you want. Hitting for example can be set up to just be timing based, so as long as the ball is coming through the zone at the same time as your bat then you're probably going to make some kind of contact. You can also change it so you have control over where specifically you're swinging your bat so then you have to get timing and location right. I could go on for hours and it's very likely that you could spend your first few hours with the game entirely in the settings menu. There's a reason this game has been a system seller for Sony for years and even moderate baseball fans love it. It really is a sports game done right that can pretty much be whatever each individual player wants it to be.

As a Brit with absolutely no knowledge of Baseball but looking forward to the game as I have an XB, Game Pass and heard so many good things about the game I've decided to learn some new skills!! Your information will be invaluable.

I'm usually a dabbler in settings out of the gate, play some games, and adjust until I find my niche. I've been playing NBA2K games since 2K19 and sounds a lot like their options, where there's the myTeam where you get packs and develop your own roster, and myPlayer where you control you from pre-draft to retirement, and then the front office and team modes. I'm not interested in competing or playing online out of the gate...so i'll take my time in the single player modes to see what really clicks.

I have been playing the beta version for a month now on my Series X. I'm not much of a baseball fan IRL until the playoffs come, but this game is so well produced and presented that it takes that minimal amount of interest and turns it into a passion for the video game. I've been playing The Show 2014 on the PS4 up until about a year ago. I'll say this, if I'm as juiced over this game with the standard version I'm playing now on my Series X, I can't imagine how pumped I'll be over the Series X enhanced version at 60 FPS! It's the highest quality team sports game I've ever played... PERIOD!
I'm a Ultimate Game Pass subscriber so I should be able to get the game free on launch day as part of that package. What I've failed to look at though is whether that Game Pass availability applies to the Series X/S enhanced version or not? I better start doing some investigating... anyone know for sure about this??
