The pitch inspection had the Shy Blues players cracking out the speedo's, sunnies and a few bottles of Factor 50. Picnic hamper with 2 sandwiches and 522 bottles of Stella duly packed they were off to the beach. After a great deal of persuasion they were finally dragged back to the changing rooms and into the famous Sky Blue introduced by the legend, Jimmy Hill, in 1961. This team were used to finals with appearances in The Checkatrade Trophy and League 2 play off finals in recent memory. But they were wary of the tough quarrymen and coal miners of East Fife who were making their first final appearance since 1954 and determined to put a little place in Scotland on the map.
City came out of the blocks flying, using a whole season's luck up in the first 20 minutes, but would it be enough to open the scoring?

The Sky Blues became a little more edgy as the 1st half wore on with a few shots ending up in Row Z. The Ten Bob boys of Fife were starting to put a bit of pressure on as you would expect in a Final of such magnitude. We may not be the Champagne Charlies of the Premiership but we can still put on a show!! No VVD here but when your facing a centre back with the strength of Hamish McTavish who pulls his kit on after a day of breaking rocks for fun you know you've been in a match!! We get to half time with the Sky Blues strikers checking they still have both legs attached. Cheese and pickle batch washed down with Stella and the boys will be ready to go again....

Turns out I massively underestimated the gulf between myself and the Legend. Probably the most frustrating round of pixel golf in 6 months. I shanked four putts inside 5ft. At least half of my shots were 20 yards off line. It's hard to believe that I only found the water once in this miserable twenty minutes of my life that I am never getting back. Round One 77 (+5). The only slight chink of light is that this will probably seal my relegation from the morass that CC-B has become. It is unlikely that any more competitive rounds will be played for a day or two.

Just dropping by for a moment as I was pointed here by Ben and Dave K upon asking after some of my old mates over in the thread for the kiddie tour.
Simply wanted to say hello to Greg, Frans, Kevin and any other ex-Dirtbags/DPS competitors that have managed to master (pun intended) 2K21 to the point that a drop to the level of us has-beens has proven unnecessary. I miss playing with you guys and I hope all of you are well amidst this ongoing pandemic. Wishing you all a fine dram, a string of birdies, and most importantly - good health and happiness.

The Sky Blues started the 2nd half a bit rocky, probably the effects of the half time Stella's but hung on for dear life and steadied the ship as the half wore on. Will it be enough to lift the Cup though? The questions will be asked. Would the team have been more potent had Godden been fit? Was Wilson the man to keep the Fifers out or should Marosi have been between the sticks? Did the lads have too many half time Stella's? Whoever knows, in the lap of the gods but the players gave it their all.

Just like to thank Greg for creating something really different and enjoyable and a good focus for the CC rounds and to all the other players for really chucking themselves into the spirit of things. Enjoyed reading the match reports almost as much as the pixel golf.
