Very excited to follow this one - I've played the course a good number of times and love it. Not a weak hole there. Interested how the empty space translates and hope you can get the heather working like Dan did on Saxondale.

Looking forward to this one Pat. Course looks great and I've thoroughly enjoyed every course you've done. Your Brookline courses are at the top of the list of my favorite American courses I've played and the UK courses have been top notch as well. On top of that I'm a James Braid fan. Keep up the great work.

Oh Hankley... yes please! Would be nice to see more love given to this incredible genre of golf course. Another one for the playlist for me and better looking than Walton Heath IMO.

Interested how the empty space translates and hope you can get the heather working like Dan did on Saxondale. Couldn't agree more, been doing a lot of messing around with textures to see what's possible and have definitely used Saxondale as reference as it's one of my favourite fantasy courses. I'm not using light rough around the fairway so that opens up options with the yellow / brown texture of light rough as a background option alongside scorched earth and the pale pine needle texture. I'm just quickly getting all the trees in the right place currently but once that is done I'm going to fully dress a hole and will post here to see if yourself or any other designers can elevate my ideas further. One thing I was going to ask - for the heather areas, would you recommend lowering the ground by a few inches before burying the bushes so it sits more level with the fairway?

BTW how is St. Georges coming along? It's on hold for now as I've been waiting for AGES to get Hankley LiDAR and now I have it I just need to get it out there! Someone well known on here is having a look at the course file and if he decides to take it on, it'll be a masterpiece. I'll let him decide if he fancies it before saying who

Here's what I've been messing around with for the heather, I'm still trying a few methods and would obviously chuck some long grass into their as well, if anyone else has a game changing idea on this speak now! P.S. Ignore the tress, they are temporary markers and will be replaced

Ok, I like the bush colour there. Works well. If you combine that with some shrubs (and if plant meter allows) it could look amazing!

It's definitely something I'm mulling over as there's a few areas where the heather is super well maintained and there's not much else growing in there apart from fescue but in the more wild areas around the perimeter theres all sorts of bushes growing like gorse etc.

Going to have to tag PithyDoctorG for this one. I think he used the purple global plant mixed with some sparkly grass and green bushes?

Thanks Ben, I’m happy with how I’ll do the heather but was just curious whether you or others have tried lowering the area to be planted by a few inches or whether you’ve just gone straight in on the surface?

I think I have 8 different courses I'm messing with at the moment, including a Pete Dye gem that I just started today.
