Planting is awesome man, and sounds like it's painful to do Glad it is showing up WELL worth the effort. A big part of it from my experience is also the choice of textures underneath, and you are nailing it. Which heavy rough is that because it is just TASTY. I love the clumpy, chunky, brownish tufts with the plants and rough you are using.

I'm pretty sure it's texture 12 heavy rough but it might be texture 10 - will check next time I'm on the designer - wish they had more browny, natural textures as they've got about 2 pages of luminous greens!

How's Hankley coming along? Had a break from the game for a month or so as was mega busy with work, still chipping away at Hankley but am also now working on a LiDAR version of Wentworth West which I'll start a thread for soon, I've got nothing against the one we currently have but the planting is "off" as not a pine tree in sight which always annoys me a little when playing it! plus I think it could be a little bit better all round with background detail, clubhouse etc. Probably opening myself up to the firing squad with this but Oh well!

Interesting course the Lidar 2020 data of Wentworth, spent a Couple of days just adding the tee's and making 4 pins on the greens, plays totally different to the current version but The file is too large for me to work with even with good masking inside and on the outside, glad your taking it on a new version. Current version a little dated with how many bunkers they removed.

Current version a little dated with how many bunkers they removed. This was my thoughts exactly, luckily Bing maps on OSM is right up to date so I've got a good match to the LiDAR data so all good on that front! The plot is just ridiculous and file size starts at 32% so it's something I'll have to keep tabs on, luckily not much long grass around the course, only in a few spots. The biggest challenge will be filling in all the open space and hiding background areas but I have a few methods I used on Brookline that could work quite well. I'm just replacing all the LiDAR trees at the moment as I use these as a rough height and placement guide before deleting all of them, once I've done that I'll start a thread for the course. Should be a fun build!

That's where i get confused with The lidar and OSM stuff,I put the 2020 data in and the course came out pretty well,Same old blending issue's around the greens with some of the bunkers but it came out well found it tricky to pin it for 4 pins at 187 but it suits me just learning the layout.

Agreed, OSM isn't great for bunkers but it gives you an idea of the correct shape if you use the measuring tool to mark out all the mapped spline points and then re-do the bunkers with a small brush which will hopefully give a more "jagged" look which is what they're like IRL. Greens are definitely too tricky at 187, I always design at 187 before toning down and it's true that it can't be published at this speed for the reasons you just mentioned, would limit pins vastly

I'm hankering for Hankley! Is this common? Any update on this heathland beauty?

I'm hankering for Hankley! Is this common? Any update on this heathland beauty? After struggling for motivation in the designer of late I've just started work on this again - won't be coming anytime in the next month but hopefully I'll be enthused enough to get this done as you are right, it will be a great addition to the game and certainly a unique proposition design wise with the wide open areas
