Thanks mate! love your work also! Appreciate that. Right now I'm spinning my wheels because I just can't seem to stay focused on one project. I think I have 8 different courses I'm messing with at the moment, including a Pete Dye gem that I just started today. Yup. Know that feeling!

Despite a lack of an update I have been busy with this, I've now planted all trees directly in play and will do the large perimeter woodland a bit later on as it bores me! Built the clubhouse and did some work on the raised beds and 1st tee also. Next is getting my textures dialed in and I'm currently on the fence with the light rough look as the lines are just so abrupt, I'm experimenting with a few ideas though. This is also the largest plot I've ever worked with, b101 would be having kittens about the looseness of the routing if this weren't such a good course!

Haha yep. It's crazy how much room they have there. Such a good course though, can't wait to see it.

It's a mad piece of land and a course I can only imagine playing for a while. Oh well. Looking good so far.

My only concern is how much meter the heather is going to use, used 4% on first 3 holes and it’s only sparsely done and there’s some large areas plus lots of scrub in the open areas, will be a challenge for sure!

I’m working on a heathland course at the moment and having similar issues with the meter. I’m going for a relatively open look so fairly sparse on the tree lines which means it’s taking about 5% meter per hole to get the heather and grasses down. Finding the right balance between really dense areas and filling relatively clear areas is a real challenge. I’ve got the advantage of being able to route fairly tightly with it being a fictional course but would have no chance managing the meter on something as vast as Hankley looks.

It's going to be tough for sure - I'll probably make sure the immeadiate playing area is pretty comprehensive and then use what I have left at the end to fill it out more. We always seem to get more meter and memory every new release of the game so even if this version is a bit limited, I'll be able to ramp it up on the next release so it won't be wasted time. Looking forward to seeing yours! have you got a WIP thread I can follow?

I feel like I've got my textures nailed down now so should be full steam ahead, decided to go for Texture 10 as my heavy rough, fairway and green whilst I'm using Yellow / Orange light rough for background heath and then I'm painting in some light brown surface 2 and dragging a bunker brush around to give me a wild look, here's a sample for what I'll do;

I had 2 holes planted a week or so ago but took it all out as it was going to be a killer on meter so had a re-think. Started laying down some new planting yesterday and think I’ve got the look I want broadly there now. Getting the right balance between the rough textures and the heavy grassed/heather areas is a really challenge. Will tag you in the WIP thread when I do get it going.

Probably not an update you want to hear but I decided to replant the heather yet again haha! decided the purple plant looks better with just the tips exposed and lower to the ground so I deleted all and started again! luckily it was only three holes.
At least this is going to look good when I finish it in 2025
