+7 after 1? Compared to my +4 after 7 holes I’d say you’re doing ok! The wind is kicking my behind and the greens aren’t helping much either. I had to stop for the night, hopefully when I pick it back up my tempo is a little better and I’m a little closer to the pin for these putts.

I’m not completely sure how many it takes though 5 marks and you get demoted. If you make the cut, you won't get demotion marks (if you miss the cut, you still might not get demotion marks, but the bottom 15% of the entire field get marks). Keep playing and you will improve. Play conservative (e.g. don't use the driver if the landing zone is narrow and a 3W or even a 5W will have a wide landing zone; don't go right at the flag, land in the middle of a safe zone on the green; if there is OB or water, shoot well away from that, even if it lands in the rough it is better than the water; just a few examples) and take practice swings every time until you are comfortable with your swing. Good luck!

Ok .... first round 80 not so bad. I did my second round ... o my it wwas bad. I had a 90 !!!! So so so so so bad. I had a lot off problems with putting this time. I see 3 moving arrows ... but the ball goes straight because i was to fast. So many times way to hard ..... and when i'm close i hit the post and it jumps out. Well .... I did play 4 rounds and the other ones where all bad ...... I ended with +55 ...... More practise is all I can say ...... In normal pro mode I go around in about Even par .... but without the powermeter I s**ck

In normal pro mode I go around in about Even par .... but without the powermeter I s**ck When putting, trust the computer is a good beginner technique. I find on the downhills it is too strong (by a bit - 1-2 yards often) and for the uphill putts I typically leave it alone. If you are hitting too hard becuase there is no swing meter, that is harder to fix. I do practice swings to see where in the animation I should go for. I find 2 "poses" get most of my shorter (20 or less feet) putts. Just barely cover the top of the putter grip with your arm is about 10 feet and the putter grip "filling" the handle down to the hand is about 20 feet for me. I fine tune from there based on what I see in the feedback section during my practice putts. For longer putts I use clubhead position or some body part position. BTW, default with the flag out when putting - I have seen several clearly good putts bounce out with the flag in, so I never use it when putting. Double BTW, without the power meter, I try to always hit 101% on my swings so that I am not trying to partial shot it. Then all my swings are the same timing (except pitch shot) and I just need to choose wisely and execute the shot. Have fun (the most important thing), it will come!

As you realize, practice is the main thing. I personally am terrible at this game, and I have been in your shoes. When I started, for a long time, they would do the promotion events where everyone in the whole league would play and people would have the chance to move up, but not be penalized. So you are talking about the entire population of 6000 or so people in one single leaderboard. And I would not be in the bottom 15%, I would be in the bottom FIFTEEN people. Now when you are talking about thousands of people and you are in the bottom 15, it hits you how bad you are. hahaha.
But I enjoy the game, so I keep playing, but the main thing is to enjoy yourself and have fun.
Practice is the key to me. I have found that if I don't play at least one or two games every day, I can't maintain that muscle memory. I have 150+ hrs in the game now, and still, I am in CC-L but I can at least make cuts now.
Best advice I have had for putting is this- The speed that you swing your stick does not matter. Its the distance that you pull it back that governs how hard you hit the ball. So I actually pull it back slowly, then I slam it forward, all the way to when it hits the other end of the plastic on the controller. Its the equivalent of following through your swing in real life. When I started putting that way, it helped immensely.
good luck!

Josia, you made me curious so I went and looked. 474.1 hours playing! Man, I should be way out of CC-K by now!!!! Still having fun though, so all good. Leaving for a very long trip (I hope - trying to hike the Appalachian Trail starting 3 April - if I go the whole way I will be gone 6 months), so you will see me drop off the net for quite a while. Only 25% make it all the way (who try to go the whole way), so if my hiking is like my golf, I may be back soon! Scott

First Tourney since playing in TGC 2 on Xbox. +44 and got 2 demotion marks already. Guess I need to practice - close shots chips are a nightmare on this game for me. Putting seems good but not feeling it like I did in TGC 2. So if I understand this correctly I can expect to miss the cut on the next 2 tourneys - lose my TGC card and try to qualify again - rinse/repeat......
