Recently got a series S, very enjoyable, smooth 60 and quick loading What display are you using with your Series S? From what I understand, the Series S is designed to deliver 60 FPS at 1440p, but I always wonder if you have to have a display that can display 1440p, natively to achieve that. My 2018 vintage TCL Series 6 HDTV runs at native 4K (2160p). I have a Series X and there are a few games I wanted to try to force to run at 1440p, just to see what kind of performance improvement I might get out of them, but I see no way via the Series X or my TV to "force" 1440p. My guess is that if a Series S, which has a native display res of 1440p, is connected to a native 4K display, it will upscale the output to 4K. I don't *think* that upscaling would affect the frame rate, but I can't say for sure. I haven't played on my home tv yet. Its 4K, I'll see if upscaling to 4K kills the frames, but I'm happy at 1080 even on a 55 inch. I was playing on an old 720 display and it was butter

Are you signed up for xbox early access? I ask because I was part of the delta ring and got a controller update pushed to my elite 2 maybe 2 weeks ago. Totally ruined my swing plane. I literally could not make a 1 foot putt as the line was impossible to control. I then opted out of early access and the previous fw version was reinstalled to my elite 2 and my swing plane went back to normal. Now that you mention it I do recall that I had signed up for XBox Early Access. Yes, I'm pulling 1 foot putts to the left of the hole... it's infuriating to say the least! I was able to force a new update via the accessories menu a few minutes ago and the update went smoother and quicker than before. It tells you to leave your controller motionless during the update, and when I originally did it, I was holding the controller in my hands and may have accidentally moved it while it was updating. I remember I had to back my way out of the update and wasn't confident it had gone off properly. I just redid the update, even though the menu told me no update was needed. I sat the controller on a table and didn't touch it while it was updating this time. It was easier to trace the swing axis afterwards, but it still feels wonked. I'm going to try opting out to see what happens... thanks for the tip! I'll report back with my results...

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Series S for my bedroom, and I'd like to know if I could play it on my 4K TV there at 60 FPS, whether it's upscaled or not. I'll be curious to see what your experience is like with your Series S connected to your 4K display.

Just remember, opting out forces you to re-enter your passwords and codes for apps such as your microsoft account,Amazon prime, etc.

I played today in 4K, it still ran at a steady 60, but honestly I didn’t not see a marked improvement, probably because it is just upscaling it, so I’m just sticking with 1080, I may try more 4K stuff when I unlock developer mode

"I'm going to try opting out to see what happens... thanks for the tip! I'll report back with my results..." Just remember, opting out forces you to re-enter your passwords and codes for apps such as your microsoft account,Amazon prime, etc. Okay, I opted out yesterday evening and then went back into "XBox Accessories" and updated my controller firmware, even though the flag indicated it was current. I then went to the practice range and performed a few swings. I was getting immediate response in my backswing and reasonably consistent response to my entire backswing motion. I then went into swing calibration and most of the tempos felt right, however, I was still getting some inexplicable heavy pushing. I then went back to the practice tee where I could have the swing feedback meter to view, and it was showing a lot of 7 o-clock to 1 o-clock swing results that I couldn't feel in the swing. Overall things are better now because my tempo is at least consistent, but I'm having a hard time forcing myself to alter the physical arrangement of my thumb to the stick & controller, to 'offset' this inexplicable off axis swing path. I'm going to try another controller today just to see if the problem carries over to it. Oh, I haven't been asked for a password yet, but I'm sure it's coming... thanks for the reminder.

When you say you played it in 4K, was the Series S showing the video res was set at 4K? I'm just wondering if the Series S has a "4K" video res setting, since it can't run natively in anything higher than 1440p? I don't think the hardware on the TV takes much of a hit upscaling to 4K, but then again, I see a huge difference between native 4K and upscaled 4K. I will say though that I can detect an improvement of upscaled 4K over native 1080p.

This was what was going on. I missed seeing this yesterday... glad you posted it because I've seen that exact phenomenon occurring over and over again in my game since that controller update. I 4-putted from inside of 12 feet on two consecutive holes last night, and both bogey putts were 1 foot or less! I find that I have to have a much slower paced putting stroke to avoid getting it. It's reassuring to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this!

I was about to contact all the societies that I participate in to tell them I was done. It is impossible to play with that line. That's when I opted out.
Sorry to hear that you aren't back to normal. IIRC I also had a system update waiting for me along with the controller update to get me back to pre-delta ring status.

This was what was going on. Ouch, that is bad! At least you were able to revert back!

The Series S plays UHD Blu rays in native 4k.
