It's a short trip over to Northern reland for our first Major of the year, "The British Open" at Royal Portrush. Players will start with conditions being wet and soft for Round 1 so if this is the opportunity to post a great opening round score. Over the next 3 rounds the course will get progressively firmer and more difficult with strong winds forecast on the final day.
500 Coin Bonus is added to the prize fund.

British Open Recap
With so many new members there was a last minute decision by the tournament committee to soften up the playing the conditions. with rain and soft conditions it was a day to post record scores snd oh they did. Jolls797 and X-Bretwalda-x shot mind boggling 53's on day one. -18 is unheard of for a major on the GGT Tour. Conditions gradually got more difficult with only the 4th round proving challenging.
I hope you enjoyed the experience because the next major is in Georgia and the Tour Committee will not be embarrassed again. Expect the hardest possible conditions on all 4 rounds.
Congratulations to our Top 5 finishers:
1. Jolls797 -42 2. X-Bretwalda-x -39 3. Alkitts81 -37 4. Dxenormous -36 5. Byrd1009 -34 5. ChrisGreg10 -34 5. Sedas-das -34
We are off to the northern most links course in the world Lotofen Links in Norway. The course is fairly short so low scores will be plentiful. We return tothe USA after that for a special tournament honoring a donator to the Society with 750 coins added to the Prize Fund
We then will begin having a Gold 7 Silver Tour where the top 25 in points/earnings plus tournament winners will play in the Gold Tour and the remaining will play in the Silver Tour. Promotions will be done after each event and regular participants on Tour will have plenty of promotion opportunities. The Gold tour has bonus coins added to most events.

Arctic Shootout
The tournament lived up to it's name thanks to playing from the forward tees in Round 1 and the absence of the prevailing high winds.
Congratulations to our Top 5 finishers:
1. Jolls797 -29 2. Byrd1009 -26 3. Dxenormous -24 4. reneg1986 -23 5. tluck27 -21 5. Vladdrac80 -21 5. Slake_Moth -21 5. Haydensmi -21 5. ufgatorkyle -21
Chambers Bay is the next stop on the list, a controversial course that you either love or hate. Opening Day is the day to post a great score while the second day will be more about surviving and avoiding the big number holes. For variety I am often using different tees and winds are often in opposite directions in each round. Remember you can see the exact course settings for each round by clicking on the event then course settings. It's a little cumbersome to navigate but with practice you will find it.
Next two events will also be in the USA (Acadian Bluffs & East Lake) before we truly go global with tournaments in the Middle East, Japan, Canada and then Australia before returning to the USA for six in a row.

RikVogel57 Invitational Recap
Due to Rik's generous contribution we had a tournament in his honor with an added bonus prize.
Chambers Bay was the host site and it's controversial reputation was proven to be true. Although the playing conditions did not differ much from Rounds 1 and 2 the scores certainly did. Round 1 the players moved up to he middle tees with the prevailing winds out of the west. Scores were in the low 60's and 50's because many of the Par 4's were drivable and all the Par 5's were easily reachable in 2 often with a mid iron 2nd shot. round 2 the winds switched to come out of the east and we played from the championship sees.
Oh what a different course it was. We had a small handful of players break par and we had many players shoot 10 or more shots higher in round 2. One nameless player shot 19 shots worse on day 2 and went from a title contender after Round 1 to a fixture in the 19th Hole where he was last seen talking to himself as he had his 5th beer of the afternoon.
Top 5 finishers were:
1. Nobackcheck_12 -21 2. Lerrdaddy24 -19 3. Reneg1986 -18 T4. Omme800 -16 T4. sizzlean_74 -16 T4. GoPack2017 -16
We are now in Michigan playing a resort course which may have the widest fairways in golf. Take out your longest hitting driver and swing away.
This is our first event using the Golf & Silver Tours which we introduced in the TGC2019 version of the society.

Great Lakes Amateur Recap
We had our first tournament with Gold & Silver Divisions and I am hoping that it will be as popular as it was on TGC2019.
Our Gold division winner was long time member chrisgreg10. Well done Chris!!
Top 5 were as follows:
1. Chrisgreg10 -17 2. ufgatorkyle -16 3. reneg1986 -14 3. Vladdrac80 -14 5. Djhaak -13
Winner of the Silver Division was Suicid3l-Cow in a very tightly contested tournament with 87 entrants in the Silver Division.
Top 5 were as follows:
1. Suicid3l_Cow -24 2. Slake_Moth -23 3. Carpgiro -22 4. Pex_1961 -20 4. fcgreen45 -20 5. Rikvogel57 -19 5. JISH88 -19
People are wondering why the Silver Division has lower scores than the Gold Division. The main reason is that there are many new members who are clearly good golfers and they have not played enough events to earn the points needed to qualify for the Gold Division. The other reason is that the Gold Division plays slightly more difficult conditions and the Silver Division played one round on shorter tees.
We are going to play the next 2 tournaments with the current allocation of the Top 25 in Earnings and Points plus Tournament winners qualifying for the Gold Division. However, I will probably increase the Gold Division to Top 50 and winners beginning at the Tokyo Rose Tournament.

Southern Classic Recap
The South is suppose to be genteel but East Lake is anything but that. I rank east Lake along with TPC San Antonio as the two most challenging "official" courses on 2k21.
We had our second tournament with Gold 7 Silver Divisions and we ended up having the same issues other Societies have experienced. Many entrants who were eligible for the Gold were not able to access the proper division unless they antered through the Event Schedule rather than the home screen. There is also an issue where 2k21 does not update the statistics immediately following the event and they are done 8 to 12 ours later which causes more confusion. We will monitor it for a few more events and if it continues to be an issue we will return to having just one tournament.
Our Gold Division had only 4 entrants due to the previously mentioned issues:
Congrats to our winner and 4 finishers
1. UFgatorkyle -9 2. Reneg1986 -4 3. Vladdrac80 -3 4. GoPack2017 +5
Top Silver Division finishers were:
1. Slake_Moth -17 2. Haydensmi -14 2. Stupid_Smooth -14 4. Forex4Life -13 4. Johnny_Ringo_SOL -13
We are now in Dubai and unless the winds are blowing it is going to be a low scoring shootout.

Arabian Sands Invitation Recap
Narrow fairways and persistent cross winds made for challenging scoring conditions for all but one player. It's a rarity on the GGT when one player wins by more than a few shots. Byrd1009 won by 4 shots shooting -23 while the rest of the top 10 averaged -12.
Some members have asked how we handle situations where there is a lopsided victory. We do monitor the play of participants and if we feel a player's skills greatly exceed the majority of the top participants we do ask the player to play at another Society. To date we have only asked one player to leave the Society.
Top 5 Finishers:
1. Byrd1009 -23 2. Johnny_Ringo_SOL -19 3. Diego777Lobo -14 4. Cinchman25 -13 4. AdamSquires11 -13
We are now at Pacific Dunes for a single round tournament to test the new settings following Friday's upgrade by HB/2K. It looks like the settings have worked properly so we will be back to our regular events with a 5000 coin Bonus event at what is considered the finest course in the world....Pine Valley.

Pacific Dunes Test Tournament
We ran an impromptu test tournament to see if the recent upgrade solved a few issues plaguing society tournament:
1. Would society default difficulty settings work? 2. would Main & alternative events allocate players properly?
Yes the settings issue has been fixed but unfortunately the allocation of players remains unfixed. For example I was able to enter both the main and alternative events even though I should have only been able to enter the main event.
Winners of the divisional events were Reneg1986 and Iaannozzo24 with identical -11 scores.
We are now playin the prestigious and very unusual Pine Valley GCC in New Jersey. Recent rains have made the course soft and scores will be low. From there we head to a brand new course in Japan which is unrated then to the Scottish Championship at Royal Dornoch which can be a bear of a course when the wind is blowing. October in Scotland is well known for wind and unpredictable weather.

Really enjoyed my time here but these next 4 rounds on Challenge Circuit might tip me over +20. I will tee it up until then of course. 🙂
Well I played ok and finished -26 for the 4 rounds. Happily though my Hcap actually went up a bit to +16.9. I'm hanging in there...

Jersey Shore Cup Recap
Pine Valley had one of it's rare tournaments and it was a treat to play the course that is considered the finest in the world. It is an amazing lawyout and there are no other courses that come close in terms of uniqueness and unusual holes.
The tournament was out closest ever with a three way tie for 1st. place and a total of 9 golfers within three shots of the lead.
Our top 5 finishers were:
1, Vladdrac80 -18 1. Ufgatorkyle -18 1. Johnny_Ringo_SOL -18 4. Slake Moth -17 5. Iannazzo24 -16 5. Stupid_Smooth -16 5. Omahaak -16 5. Reneg1986 -16
We are in Japan at a Pete Dye designed course called Olympic National East. The course is extremely narrow with tricky greens however with most unrated courses I set the greenss at only moderate difficulty to give people a chance to shoot some low scores without adversely effecting their handicaps.
Royal Dornoch is next and the conditions will be challenging because it's October and it's never nice in Scotland in October.

Dungarvoner_12 Invitational Recap
A special thank you to Dungarvoner_12 with his generous donation for our tournament in Japan. We played thebrand spanking new Olympic National East course and since it was unrated my nrmal policy is that it's the perfect time to shorten up the tees, soften up the greens and have some fun shooting some low scores. We may revisit this course and I will firm up the greens and increase the wind. My guess is scores would be 6 to 10 shots higher.
Winning score was an unbelievable -30 hot by UFgatorkyle. Even more unbelievable was the fact that I actually finished in the top 10!!
Top 5 shooters were some well known names plus one newcomer:
1. ufgatorkyle -30 2. reneg1986 -27 3. bradmc6 -25 4. Vladdrac80 -24 5. Slake-Moth -23 6. Parbuster1962 -21 (shamelessly throwing my name on the list)
Late breaking news....ufgatorkyle will be tested for "putting performance enhancing drugs" before the tournament in Scotland
Scottish Championship is next with a 4000 coin bonus. Conditions will vary and lets just say that the final round will be quite a bit more difficult than the 1st Round. Variety is the spice of life.

Big Announcement
Global Golf Tour (Pro Level) Society
We have now added a Pro Difficulty Level Society to the franchise.
The tournaments and format will remain the same as the Pro Am Society with 2 changes:
1. Pro Level Swing Difficulty 2. No Handicap Limit
You may play in both societies if you so choose.
Reason we are adding the Pro Level Society is because players are improving and I have had a few requests to offer the same type of Society but with the Pro Swing Difficulty.
To join the new society search for "Global Golf Tour Pro" and join the society.
Season 1 will be short and fun with a mix of real courses and member designed courses plus we will try a Main/Alternative event format to see how that works.
Then when we start the new Pro Am Society Season #2 the Pro Society will begin it's Season to coincide so they run side by side at the same venues.
I am scheduling the Season 1 events this weekend and play will start on Tuesday.
Our first tournament will be on a member created course.
Questions? Email me Parbuster1962@gmail.com or post and I will respond.
