Yeah I'm guilty! Unfortunately I didn't find it much fun competing on tour on this version. Do lurk and support alot of the design side of things though. I kind of agree though, I'll drop out of these.

I could be part of the 90% also if someone didn't realize I used to post in the other sections a lot a year or more ago.

I don't play TGCtours anymore, I just play NFL stableford and thats it.  But I still like the people so I lurk around in the off topic section mostly.

The original question was whether anyone was participating in the protests. It's basically a yes or no question.

Someone started a thread, conversation is going to, fairly naturally, expand from the initial question. No moderator stepped in until now.

Are you honestly expecting 10/20/30 responses of "yes" or "no"??

I will happily stop if asked to by a moderator, but as none have stepped in until now, we seem to have self moderated.

Much like the covid thread (which also touches on politics fairly often,) I'd suggest the self moderation has gone pretty well so far...

I'm a complete dolt for expecting people to honor our policy without specifically asking every time.

Your continued condescension towards is beginning increase my disdain for your membership here.

There was ZERO "condescension" in what I said.

I didn't realise you had "disdain" for my membership here, I'm sorry to hear that.

I realise we had some disagreements when you sent me angry messages telling me to stop "needlessly" reporting posts of somebody who's subsequently been banned 3 times in a short space of time. I'd suggest that shows maybe I had a point. I then replied angrily that nothing had been done when I reported being sent abusive private messages.

But I thought that had been the extent of it, and some time ago.

And then in this thread, there was a full page of political comments before I got involved, but the "disdain" comes my way, hmm, ok...

I think the covid thread has been a great example of how people can self moderate, personally.

Anyway, I've had my say. I don't like people feeling disdainful towards me, so I'll do you a favour...

The no politics policy is absurd because literally everything in life is political.

If the admins don't want anything other than golf discussed here, as is their right, perhaps the best thing to do would be to bin the off topic board altogether.

ps - every time i dip into these threads my admiration for LKeet6 only increases. He only ever calmly puts his view across, and yet has his place here questioned. Meanwhile several people who have posted in this thread have in the past been openly abusive and hostile. One of them has done enough to be permanently banned 5 times over, and is still here....

Always find it interesting the manifestation of "power corrupts". And really this is a big part in BLM.... along with a fair amount of structural racism ofc! Easy to see the parallels in this place - mods who should be impartial and patient with the membership - stepping over the mark into personal attacks. Just a few bad apples maybe...

Everyone has a personality and many people dislike many other people. These are givens. Have a rule and enforce it.... but sideswipe ad-hominem attacks from admins always look pretty weak to everyone except the hardcore sycophants.

Ok, I think this thread is done. We have a policy for a reason. I came here to remind everyone of that policy and was responded to with what I considered a condescending reply (my interpretation as such was heavily influenced by past interaction) and responded accordingly. If that makes me corrupt power, and the equivalent of a structural racist, well, how bout it.

Having given it more thought, I wish to apologize to Leon for expressing my disdain for his membership here. I did/do find his interactions with me to have been condescending but I should be better than to reply in kind.

Not that I want it to be an excuse but it has been a real strain, of late, for the three of us to run this site. It has gotten too big and too time-consuming. At the end of another long week where I've questioned the number of hours I've devoted, I admit that it got to me when I was treated less than I thought I ought to be.

I still prefer to keep the thread closed as I think it has run its course (and there's an entirely separate forum for political discussions). But I think the final post should be an apology to Leon for my reaction and comments, so Leon (LKeet6 ), I apologize to you...not because I have to, but because it's the right thing to do and I owe it to you. I'm sorry.
