A male pregnancy......the miracles of modern science......
Seriously though - congrats both Ben and Dax.

Sad to hear that you're hanging up your clubs for a while Dale. It sucks that it's come to this, TGC2019 is an absolute mess to be honest. I had to change my swing technique when this game came out; I was warned pre-season that if I continued to swing the way that I did, I would likely get picked up by the api from time to time... After at first feeling totally cheesed off and angry with the whole situation; (afterall, all that I was doing was swinging just how I had done with TGC2) and after some bad words with Jeff SmilingGoats (for which I apologized and we moved on from that), I decided to suck it up and learn to swing in a new way. Since then, I've never had any kind of consistent swing - at times I really struggle and I'm hitting lightning bolts and fast after fast, but sometimes it feels pretty good and I can compete. I hope that you change your mind and try to relearn the game, I know that it's not an easy thing to do though. It's not an ideal situation and many of the top players just refuse to compete because of the state of the game: that's totally understandable, but this place is much better with you, than without you.

This is really an excellent post! Thank you for posting this. I have been wanting to add something from my own perspective to this recent debate but could never find the right words and I think you covered a lot of what I wanted to say.

Ooh I can see it now. No playing with your fingers only and not your thumbs. I can see the complaints lining up. "It is like straight edging with a mouse by using a ruler as guides, or rubber bands on a controller! That isn't how a controller was designed to be used. We will be migrating to controllers that require a thumb print on the joystick in order to register the swing! Only 99 bux ! I’m a thumb swinger left stick left thumb not going to change now

Well I don't know why someone would give up playing just because he has to change his swing and considers it a chore and not enjoyable. To me, trying to keep the swing in the cone is a big part of the enjoyment. The tension of standing on the tee with water or O.B on the right and knowing I must produce a good swing or potentially drop shots is one of the things that keeps bringing me back. If producing a good swing is a chore then what about all the calculating, distance, wind, lie, putting etc. Those things for me are a chore but they're all part of the game. Imagine a new golf game arrives with brilliant graphics and gameplay but people avoid it because they can't use their funked up swing. All seems a bit strange in my opinion.

Yeah man but it's his opinion. We aren't all coded the same way. You might like football and he might like basketball. Everyone has different views lol.

Well as far as the tournament so far. I was able to shoot -13 and -11 in the first 2 rounds thru the grace of the TGC Gods. I actually didn't swing too terribly. Sadly I'm the only XB1 guy to make the cut and I've been playing pretty badly lately so hopefully this is the start of me finding some of my rhythm again. I would like to see some more XB1 guys making the cut and competing and there will be. We have some good guys out there! To weigh in on the recent Fair Play email. I know there are many guys that are having to retool their swings to ensure they are playing within the Fair Play Standards. However, I think if we look at it from the perspective of the admins and folks that made this decision, they are just trying their best to make the game as fair for everyone that plays it that they can. If you are forced to change your swing, maybe try looking at it as a new challenge and maybe once you get your new swing down you may be even better. It could happen. I know it's a pain for some and if you don't see it that way, that's OK too. I'm just hoping that everyone tries to understand the decision from the standpoint of the admins. I mean I'm trying my best to keep my swing line inside of the blue cone as I can and I always have. I'm not perfect and I miss it sometimes, and if that is a problem or causes any issues in the new Fair Play rules, please let me know and I'll gladly try to address it. It may be hard to change the swing up or try to perfect keeping the line inside the blue cone, but honestly isn't golf supposed to be hard? Wouldn't that make it a more realistic challenge if you had to try to keep it inside that swing line and live with those results. If it's harder for everyone, it's possible that the higher resulting scores (-35 to -50 as opposed to -50 to -65 or better) would make more folks feel like they had a fighting chance at competing and could possibly enhance competition more. I'm always trying to find a way that it is a silver lining. I know not everyone will see it that way and that's perfectly OK, but it may make it feel more enjoyable if you look at it more as a challenge than a drawback. I don't do anything special with my swing but if I can assist anyone in what I do, I really don't mind working with someone. If we work together in this community to make it better for everyone, we'll get a lot farther than complaining about the state of things. It'll never be perfect, but I can't imagine a golf society that's any better than this with being as inclusive and responsive to the thoughts and responses of its members. Good luck to all moving forward in this tournament and in the season! Hopefully you'll see me up there competing

Could be because I actually HATE the game. I've had fun here over the years. I'm not going to teach myself a new swing to play a game I hate. The admins have spoken. I might give it one more try, but I'm pretty sure I won't. BL3 and RDR2 sound great with my new fancy surround system. 😎😎 Edit: Also, the only thing I see as "strange" is you voicing your opinion and then telling me in a roundabout way that my opinion is "strange". 😏😏

I would say if you really HATE it then you're better off away from it. No way I could have played for a year and a half if I hated it. You did well to hang in there. Cheers

Cheers Yes, thank you. 😊😊 I tried really hard when it first came out to hit straight and was always raging because I would hit those pulls. I finally gave up and played for it. I've gave the straight shot a chance again and it brought back the MJ Cry Face meme out of me. 😂😂 I hope the next version of video golf isn't FUBAR from the get and we can all thank Baby Jesus or whoever ye please. 😏😏

Gave it the old "college try". Must say that I quite hate it. Zero fun for me. I didn't care about me score. Was really, really trying to stay in the cone. Shot -7 in R1. To me, personally, it's more trouble than it's worth. I quit middle of R2. I put so much effort into hitting it straighter. I think I would've passed the API. However, it is making me hate the game more than I do to try and "stay in the cone". Some lines were good and others were...LOL. Not worth me putting in the effort to be honest. I get zero enjoyment out of focusing on "staying in the cone". I think this is where I hang it up and wait for a new game. That's ok on my end. I've had a blast this year. I have no shame in stepping away for a bit. I can go play other games. Besides, we've a baby due in June! I'll miss you guys! I'll check in from time to time. Thanks for the fun! I hope the next iteration isn't broken and we can all play the same game. I'll still be in awe of y'alls straight shots as you were of my boomerangs. Hit 'em straight all! See y'all next game! 😊😊 BCT would love to have you Dale!

I'll mull it over a bit more.
