Handicap Event 35 RESULT - BLACK KNIGHT OPEN
Another week, another first-time winner!! Tio.montour grabbed the honours in only his second tour appearance, but only by the narrow margin of two strokes from another relative newcomer, Pecchia89, who claimed his first podium finish and who also produced the best round of the event, a stunning 58 (-14) in the third round. Six shots off the winning total was Charlie, but that was still good enough to end the tourney in third spot.
Les Souter, Money List leader for several weeks, finally paid for his recent poor form by being toppled from his lofty perch by previous leader Bobfletch, but the difference between them is a mere $15 so their personal battle could go right to the final event in six weeks' time!
Thanks to all who took part and we hope to see as many as possible in Mauritius this week for another lovely course in a beautiful setting...

Handicap Event 37 Preview - THE WARRIOR CHALLENGE at Channarong Tour - starting 5th October 2020
Welcome to the gorgeous Channarong Golf Club, a name that is translated to "experienced warrior" in Thai. The par 71 course is brand new, and is located at the start of the spectacular mountains of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. The course plays very long (7,555 from the tips), and is a championship course that will test even the best players. It offers plenty of risk and reward holes, most of which have spectacular views over one of Thailand’s most beautiful areas. Around the course there is a mix of small huts, luxurious villas, and 5-star hotels.
This has to rank as one of my favourite courses, absolutely stunning, incredible views and detail, and it plays superbly well also. A big thanks to Eskil Walnum, the designer, I must check out some of his other courses! Enjoy!!

Handicap Event 36 RESULT - LANGER'S LUXURY CLASSIC
Whew, what a tough week that was - for me personally and at least a couple of others! Not so for our podium finishers though! Pommeman claimed his second win in only five starts by a crushing eleven-stroke margin, and he emphasised his superiority on the final day by posting a super 59, the best round of the event. Ian finished in the runner-up spot for the third time this season to leave him still chasing that elusive first win, while three strokes further back was rmblsb, ending his fourth tourney with his first top-three position.
Strangely, the top two players on the Money List finished in the bottom two positions, and they are now seperated by a mere five dollars! Ian moved up from 5th to 4th but there is still plenty to play for. Remember, when the tourneys finish - and there are only six left - we will have the play-offs! They will be in a matchplay format and details will be announced in due course on the Old Goats Forum, so keep an eye out for them in a couple of weeks or so!! They will be very exciting!
A big thanks to all who participated in Mauritius, and we hope to see you all in Thailand next week!

Handicap Event 38 Preview - LORD OF THE RINGS at Taiheiyo Club - Gotemba - starting 12th October 2020
Japan’s Olympic National East was the intended venue for this event, hence the tournament name, but it failed the Old Goats Course Standards Test so has been replaced by Taiheiyo Club’s Gotemba Course. Taiheiyo Club operates 18 golf courses in Japan and Gotemba is its’ flagship course. The World Cup was held here in 2001, an event won by the South African team of Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, a formidable partnership.
The course was completely remodelled in 2018, in consultation with leading world player Hideki Matsuyama, and is a beautiful, tree-lined parkland course featuring many greenside ponds. Selected as the No.1 course in Japan by the country’s leading golf magazine Par Golf, golfers around the world agree “you haven’t golfed in Japan until you’ve played Gotemba.”
We hope you enjoy your Japanese experience here, but go easy on the saki…

Handicap Event 37 RESULT - THE WARRIOR CHALLENGE
And yet another first-time winner!! This time it was rmblsb who emerged as the victor on what was a very difficult, but beautiful, track at Channarong in Thailand. He held off the challenge of Randy G to edge home by just two strokes, while tio.montour claimed his second podium placing in four outings a further three shots back from Randy. The best round of the event came on the final day, with bobfletch carding a very nice 65.
Bob stays top of the Money List, while the top four all moved up one position, including Ian (RWP) who just can't seem to find that first win.
Thanks again to all who made the trip to the Far East, and this week we hop over to the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan, for the next test, so good luck to all who make the journey...

Flowering native and exotic trees and plants abound, while ornate bridges cross the abundant watercourses which feature on all but the 10th hole so pack a few extra balls!

Handicap Event 38 RESULT - LORD OF THE RINGS
On what seemed to me to be a very deceptive course at Gotemba, TIO.MONTOUR finally emerged as the handicap winner this week, notching up his second victory in only five starts. He won this tourney in Round 3 with a stunning 62, the best of the week, and hung on to finish three strokes ahead of bobfletch in second. Bob produced his best performance for a while, and extended his lead at the top of the Money List. Ray (rmblsb) was a further three strokes back from Bob, denying GeeTee his first podium finish by a single stroke.
Thanks to all who played, we hope you enjoyed the course, I know I did, and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for our next event, in Queensland, Australia.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST COMPLETE AT LEAST 2 OF THE NEXT 4 EVENTS TO QUALIFY FOR THE END OF SEASON PLAY-OFFS AND HAVE A CHANCE OF BECOMING THE OLD GOATS HANDICAP CHAMPION OF 2020!!
Good luck everyone!!

Event 40 Preview – Tasmania Test – starting 26th October
Important – this is the second of the last four regular tour events, at least two of which you must complete to qualify for the end of season play-offs.
The Dunes, Barnbougle’s original course, is a Links course unlike any other in Australia. Meandering along Tasmania’s dramatic North East coast, it’s where breathtaking scenery and thrilling golf truly come together. Golf at the Dunes is a game of strategy, where each shot requires tactical thought and a little creativity can be rewarding.
Fairways are wide, wider than most golfers will have experienced on traditional courses. The greens are lively; rolling with the natural undulation of the dunes and with the 4th hole boasting the largest bunker in the southern hemisphere, this course is designed to challenge.
Barnbougle Dunes has achieved numerous awards and currently holds the following rankings:
• #1 Public access course in Australia (Australian Golf Magazine 2013) • #2 Golf Course in Australia (Australian Golf Magazine 2013) • #34 of the world’s top 100 Golf Courses (U.S. Golf Magazine 2012) • #20 Golf Course outside the U.S. (U.S. Golf Digest 2009/2010) • #11 Golf Course in the World (U.S. Golf Digest 2014)
Good luck, and try not to get too frustrated. Also, a word of advice - when on the tee, press 'E' to check for OOB areas!!

Handicap Event 39 RESULT - BOOMERANG BLAST
Well, well, well, old Daddygoat himself, Les Souter, finally found his form again to capture his third trophy of the season in Queensland. Not since his shared victory in July at the British Goats Open, his second, had he tasted the sweet flavour of success, but he fought off strong challenges from both paul.ldc (Paul) and rmblsb (Ray) to finish the tourney three strokes ahead of the chasing duo. In fact, it was these two who recorded the best rounds of the week, a 63 from Paul in Round 2 and a 63 from Ray on the final day, so well done to them for those fine efforts.
Not much change in the Money List, although Les's victory now leaves him just $25 adrift of the leader, Bobfletch, who could only manage 8th spot last week. Welcome to Pocastrancas, our new member, all the way from Argentina, we wish you luck in the final tournaments!
Thanks to all of the 13 who completed the event, all of whom now only have to complete one of the three remaining events to qualify for the Play-off draw.
Next stop is Tasmania, our southernmost World Tour venue, and the tough Barnbougle Dunes, so good luck to everyone who makes the trip!

Handicap Event 41 Preview - KIWI CHALLENGE at Kauri Cliffs - starting 2nd November 2020
Important – this is the third of the last four regular tour events, at least two of which you must complete to qualify for the end of season play-offs.
Kauri Cliffs on North Island, New Zealand was designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants, Orlando, Florida. The par 72 championship golf course measures 7,139 yards and will challenge every skill level. Fifteen holes view the Pacific Ocean, six of which are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea. The beautiful inland holes wind through marsh, forest and farmland. Kauri Cliffs is currently ranked #37 in the world by Golf Digest Top 100 Greatest Golf Courses in the World.
This a wonderful venue for the penultimate regular event of the Old Goats World Tour so good luck, pack plenty of balls, and try not to get too frustrated…

Handicap Event 40 RESULT - TASMANIA TEST
Our winner by five strokes last week was tio.montour, his third tournament win of the season. Trailing behind him in a tie for second place were RWP (Ian), still searching for that first victory, and Bobfletch, the latter extending his Money List lead over Les Souter with tournaments running out. Les, who finished fourth, carded the best round of the week in Round 3, a scintillating 60, and he also recorded the best score in Round 2, but to no avail.
After finishing two of the four qualifying events for the end of season Play-Offs, nine players can now look forward to being included in the Last 16 Draw, and they are: Les Souter, Ray (rmblsb), Randy G, tio.montour, Ian (RWP), Bobfletch, GeeTee, Gaupaz, and Terry (Terbal). I really hope we can fill the remaining seven slots up for grabs and avoid having byes.
Six players have completed one qualifying event so will need to complete one of the remaining two tourneys to make the Play-Offs - they are: paul.ldc, Pocastrancas, Pecchia89, der_machine, Charlie (cer1940), and Pommeman.
This week we're in New Zealand, so good luck to everyone making the trip to Kauri Cliffs...

Handicap Event 42 Preview - HAWAIAN HEAVEN at Kapalua Plantation - starting 9th November 2020
Important – this is the last of the final four regular tour events, at least two of which you must complete to qualify for the end of season play-offs. We have 13 qualifiers so far, and the remaining 3 places can only be filled by STEVELO, DER_MACHINE and CER1949 – but they will have to complete this final event to qualify.
Our final regular event finds us in Hawaii and, in particular, on the island of Maui at the fabulous Kapalua Plantation course, the host of the PGA TOUR's Sentry Tournament of Champions each January featuring an elite field of the previous year's PGA TOUR winners.
Normal yardages go out of the window on this course, with the huge amounts of roll and elevation changes. Very wide fairways and huge greens await you, as well as spectacular views, so enjoy your experience here and try to find a special way to end your season – if you’re not involved in the Play-offs of course!

Handicap Event 41 RESULT - KIWI CHALLENGE
Old Daddygoat himself, Les Souter, brought home the bacon for the fourth time this season thanks to four consistently good rounds at Kauri Cliffs, his Round 2 score of 58 being the best of the week. Les finished with an eight-stroke winning margin from paul.ldc who claimed his second runner-up placing in four outings. Newcomer simone1chef2b, in his debut appearance, leapt into third spot courtesy of the best round of the final day, an excellent 59. Les's victory sees him leapfrog bobfletch to head the Money List with only one tourney left to play. Can he hang on to his $165 advantage in Hawaii?! Four more goats qualified for the end of season play-offs - paul.ldc, Pocastrancas, Pecchia89 and Pommeman will now join Les Souter, rmblsb, Randy G, tio.montour, RWP (Altaedm), bobfletch, GeeTee, Gaupaz and Terbal in the Handicap Matchplay competition which starts next week. If the remaining three slots have not been filled after the final event, byes will be allocated accordingly. Good luck to all in Hawaii...

Handicap Event 42 RESULT - HAWAIIAN HEAVEN
He's only gone and won another tournament! Les Souter finished the season with another convincing victory, this time by eleven strokes, at Kapalua to clinch top spot on the Money List, so many congratulations to him! Charlie and Pecchia89 shared the runner-up spot and Charlie actually posted the best scores in rounds one and four, but a poor third round cost him dearly. Now we turn our attention to the end of season play-offs which will determine the Old Goats Champion of 2020 - the first round draw to be announced later ready for play to commence tomorrow...
