Nah I’m all for old Liz now, nice being part of something bigger than myself or my country. They may cost a little, but when you offset that with their donation of crown land to local councils for income purposes through the Commonwealth is made up somewhat. I voted for Oz to become a democracy when given the chance, but I’m glad we stayed.
Yeah we’re a wicket or two in front now. I think the boys would be ashamed not turning Smiths heroics in a W. The question now is can someone from England (or NZ tee hee) step up from here to match or stymie Smith’s efforts.
Note - tee hee is only acceptable when questioning another’s heritage and or masculinity 😎

Almost 30 people were slaughtered by a stranger with a gun. Who kills strangers? Seriously??? Dead set cheat codes. This has gotta be like it was watching Bradman.
4 down, 210 in front. 45 overs left in the day. I suspect we’re going to see about 12-15 overs at the England openers before the end of the day, depending on how quickly we can score from here. I think we need a lead of 300 at least, if there’s minimal rain to take time out of the match.

Can't help but feel the Aussies declared 10 overs too late... but in truth it's unlikely to make a difference.
Some rain predicted tomorrow, but not sure enough to save us. Need a massive defensive effort!

We won the first in ‘05 by plenty.
Birmingham ‘05 - second test - you won it by two but we remember it as a great test. I think for different reasons (Smiths heroics) this will go down as a great test as well. Don’t be disheartened by a freak performance.
Now I need to be an as5hole Aussie and celebrate a bit. I’ll see you in a bit if you’re looking like drawing it, other than that I’ll see you for test 2.

Jimmy's injury may be a blessing in disguise, Archer may just be the man for Smith. I can't see Ali keeping his place either, he has been awful with bat and ball. I'd quite like to see Rashid in for Lords. England have let dominant first innings positions slip away with both bat and ball. Australia didn't return the favour in the second innings. I worry a little bit about the damage to morale this last couple of days will have done. |

Fair call on damage to confidence, could go either way. Either harden them or they’ll break.
I wouldn’t like to be an Australian batsman having a net this week, Starc is going to be G.A.S to get his spot back. We need to keep Smith out of his net lol. He’ll go in for Sidds I think.
Honestly - Well played, bowlers did their bit on day 1, probably weren’t backed up by 5,6,7,8 in the first innings when you batted - those guys had to deliver when you got the lead.
